WHY did you leave out the bit about "JESUS descending into Hell" ?

See my reply to Eric Hughes below. It was not part of the original creed.

When reading the creed, he left out the statement "descended into hell", even though it was put up on the screen. Not sure why that was, or if it was even supposed to be mentioned. Other than that, it was informative.

The Apostles did not write this. It was written to push the ideals of Arius out. What it was, is in fact, the binding of the Church by those heading Christianity in the day. It was to keep Christianity pure. It was written in Nicene around 328 ad, and then refostered in the 380's. God be with you...

Not only was the creed not written by the Apostles (it's likely no earlier than late 2nd Century), but the "He descended into Hell" part wasn't incorporated until the 4th Century. Just a late addition people thought appropriate.

Sounds like the speaker is trying to put a spin on it. The the word Catholic means universal. And the holy Catholic church and the communion of saints are not one and the same as he suggested

"descended into hell" doesnt mean want we think it is. It can be replaced with hades or sheol. One is in greek, the other in hebrew. I think hades is better used here for our understanding today.

Twelve disciples, but which twelve? Which 'succinct statement about the faith' is the Judas Iscariot statement? As for "what you notice immediately" is that you completely skipped over "he descended into hell."
