      @@KateBrice I just moved and the landlord painted on the countertop with some really gross chunky, grainy paint. It’s literally rough and when you try and clean it with a paper towel it rips the paper towel. Like I have no idea what kind of paint she used but I cannot wait to cover it up!

    That's very hard. Take some hand wash and dilute in water just enough to have little foam/soapiness. Spray the counter with just enogh to slightly wet the surface. Now apply and use squeegy to drive away the water and the bubbles. Advantage is correcting mistakes and also air bubbles.

    WHATEVER you do you, however carefully and slowly you feed it out and painstakingly smooth as you go, will end up with HUNDREDS of air bubbles. Prick them with the tip of a NEW knife blade and press the air out from the outside in, from all sides. When you've been all over it (hours), it will STILL look like a pizza. BUT LEAVE IT, most will completely disappear over a couple of days.

      @KateBrice  Před rokem +1

      Great advice 😊 I didn’t actually get many air bubbles but I very carefully smoothed it out little by little if that makes sense

      It probably depends on the vinyl you use. Mine was pizza but it settled down after a couple of days and I'm happy with it now. Its not glass smooth, but near enough. You have to get right your eyes right down to worktop level to see the few small bumps that remain.

      As a kitchen wrapper by trade your completely wrong. It's not a given that you'll end up with lots of trapped air. Carefully and with correct feeding and squeegee technique you can get them down without any. Very smooth glossy surfaces are hardest as the wrap holds fast and other surfaces such as solid mdf that has been made and prepped properly can be more workable as the air is able to travel better but still allowing the wrap to get good adhesion.

    is thie vinyl 'food safe'? as in, is it treated with any chemicals, that are harmful for food to be around? I don't know if that's a silly question - but I'd love to do a kitchen reno, but have no idea which vinyls are safe and trustworthy

    Hi Kate, how does it hold up after a few months of use? Thinking of doing ours but worries about if it wears,splits or stains easily?

    • @KateBrice
      @KateBrice  Před rokem +8

      Hi Sean, mine is fine after one year. I have looked after it though and there are some sight scratches which is inevitable. It definitely doesn’t split or anything. Like any worktop you need to be careful of curry etc. hope that helps x
