- Tracker boats typically come with rod tubes in the storage compartments. While they seem like a convenient and great idea, they often create more issues than they resolve. First, the rod tubes are typically pretty crooked, which can cause you to put your rods into a constant bend when stored. Second, they like to bang up rod guides, you still need to use some sort of rod sleeve to mitigate that issue. Third, they eat up a lot of space!
Today we will remove the port side rod tubes from my Tracker 190 TX. I went from comfortably storing 8 or so rods in that side to almost TWENTY! Let's see how it went.

Here I am trying to figure out how to get my tubes back in! Previous owner removed port side. I've really dumbed my arsenal down so 8-10 rods is more than enough for me. Replacing the tubes with the foam is a bit of a pain ha!
You can have mine 🤣
Why would you want to do that? The tubes suck, get rod socks.
I was veering away from any model 2019 and above cuz the rod boxes are dogshit but this mod opened up a whole new world. I can have tackle in center and rods not in tubes on the sides. Gotta love it
It works out better this way
I ripped out the whole deck of my 90
I can now put all 165 rods in my boat...
Your metal plate with the 8 tube wholes seem to come out easy for you after you took the 3 screws out, ? Mine seems likes it's glued in there or is there more screws somewhere i can't see maybe
Were you able to sort this out?
@goodmanfishing not yet. I had limited time, I guess I will have to wait until it's 100 degrees up north here lol
But your idea was good
I’m wondering if you can flush these with water while they’re installed?
Flush the rod tubes with water?
@@goodmanfishing mine have lots of dust and sand in them
I would use a brush and vacuum before soaking the foam in the boat with water.
Where did you get that rod butt holder insert at 5:12? Also, do you think i can fit 7'6" rods in this setup with a 175?
That comes with the boat. Sorry I can't speak for the 175, I'm not sure.
Do you just have the rods running under the deck space? Any issue with them catching anything under the deck or any of the old foam?
No issue, but I always use rod socks, I would recommend that.
@@goodmanfishingso you haven’t had to finish it up with the neoprene sleeve or anything yet?
I literally just got this boat, and put one rod in and was like screw these things, and here i am looking to do away with it, do you have a video of what you did to cover the foam
I've actually not done a video on that. Still glad I removed the tubes though!
