Good stuff buddy
Thanks 👍
System totally on my wish list thank you for this information
Temple is awsome full of knowledge. Happy to hear you spoke with her.
I never knew the squeeze was calming to cattle. I thought it was to control them because they were stressed out. Thanks for a very informative vlog.
Hi..... Thank you 🎥👍👍👍
Your an inspiration to me for my farm that I’m rebuilding, I’m still working on fences, good times!!!
My first job as a 16 year old kid was working as an assistant to a welder who built these cattle squeeze chutes as a side gig. I was in charge of grinding and prepping for paint. Learned a lot that summer.
So much content lately Josh, THANK YOU for sharing. I can see why you are tired but it is greatly appreciated mate. Cheers.
You got a full time job setting and putting together all the stuff you get. You come a long ways in a very short time.
Your a blessed man
I like the Australian name for the equipment "cattle cruncher", sure keeps the cattle from hurting themselves and the farm hands, great for working on cattle (vetting, castration, marking).
Suggest one improvement ? Put roof over work area squeeze chute . Weather in the sun or rain have shade and dry area for working cattle especially if you need to do more than tagging
That’s a whole new deal for me. That was very informative.
That is an awesome cattle system Josh. I am looking forward to seeing it in operation with your cows.
Have a good day on the Stoney Ridge Farm 🚜
Nice system! Last Cow we had worked was lasso and post...lol. I have rented the squeeze chute from the CO-OP each spring and fall. So, if someone does not have the money to buy something like this...it's a great option! I rent the chute for the weekend for $50! Works great for spring vacs and fall worming. Draw back is when you have a Cow you need to get up in an emergency situation...so, the investment is handy sometimes. However, like some have mentioned...there is a fine line of convenience and the bottom line...so, definitely worth the time to budget and research for your own operation. An old Ford Tractor can set out a bale the same as a new cab tractor...although..not as fun and comfortable, lol! Enjoyed watching this video! Good luck this year! Market is definitely looking strong and we all know demand is high!
😆 for a second thought I missed a couple of days and it was tool Tuesday 😆😆 sweet new piece of equipment 👍👍
Have a good day 👍👍👍
Hey Josh 🇺🇲 I can't wait to see you using this 🇺🇲 WOOOOOO!!!!!
That’s an awesome system and great job showing and explaining everything. I can’t wait until you run cattle through it for the first time.
I doubt I ever raise cattle but still was informative and fun to watch. Great job Josh!
Quite the set-up. I can't wait to see it in use.
When your working with many head of cattle, that system is worth every penny..
It takes some planning to design the farm around managing animals .. Even if your starting out small it’s worth putting this system in your farm land layout for future growth.
Josh you’ve got a fine set up. I have the Tartar Econoy 90 sweep for my small herd and I wouldn’t take my money back for it !! I needed it long ago. Those steel sheeted adjustable panels will be my next add on.
There you go josh Things are coming together for you enjoy your journey.
Great video. Great step Dad but Im sure you know that. Im so pleased he let you out of there cos if I get giggling theres tears not to mention stomach ache lol xx
Enjoyed the video. Especially loved how you gave the visual demonstration of how the system works!!!!!
That was a fantastic demonstration. Especially for those who have never lived on a farm or know about cattle crushes (squeeze chute?) and their purpose. I can appreciate that you may have felt a little self-conscious if not slightly embarrassed doing it, but it was well worth the effort.
How cool is this thing. Didn't have this when my dad and I were working cattle.
Hey SRF you might want to grease up all the pin slide points ,and oil up any pipe over pipe hinges and the like , BEFORE use . You just have to learn how to be quick on the head gate. The 2 adjustable panels are a good idea , but can they be opened up in case a cow went down while there?
Thanks Josh. Very informative. A lot of thought and experience went in to designing that. Looking forward to seeing it in action.
Add an antiback up to keep them from backing out this will allow you to fill the sweep with more cows to work without stopping
Worth every penny
Temple approved, Alright!
That's some next level stuff for sure!
Good afternoon! Made it back home, so I’m back in your stomping grounds again.
Your squeeze chute is about the same as the Powder River chute we had, with just a few more bells and whistles. We didn’t have the sweep system, just a Vee-shaped section we could close a gate on off a small board-fenced enclosure that had a large Vee wing fence funnel to it. After the small vee, the board fence curved around so the squeeze chute was not immediately in sight. Dad ran the chute, the vet worked the business end, and I was the designated ‘encourager’ who pushed animals through the system. I’m having PTSD (sorta) thinking about some of those cows. I mentioned once before that ours were a little less used to people being around, and some were very averse to being ‘encouraged’. It will be interesting to see how yours respond for you. Good system you got.
What a set up great job
Love your videos man keep it going ,you reminded me of someone I know , best fruit farmer , your a bad ass farmer mr Stoney
This a nice looking cattle handling system a far cry from the first systems that we used, I will say this from experience cattle have a different attitude when you start working them that's what makes a system like this worth the money, just a thought just in case one should slip through you might need something that will keep them from getting away and put them back in the sweep just a thought, have a good one!
Nice little attachment for that ventrac to grade out the millings for you're driveway
Looking good
good video man good job
When you go through let me know so I can get the hot brander out with SRF on it
You got it to easy our cows are so wild and our places are so brushy we have to rope them
Nice equipment addition. Will be good for the cows and better for the handlers. Pretty red color.
If I only had a cow... LOL. Thanks Josh for the vid.. Blessings.
Not trying to tell another man how about to deal with his business. But I'd have worried about putting gravel down at the crowding tub or pens more than the alley. That's where you'll have em jamming up and have a guy in there pushing/sorting them. Which is no fun and even a tad sketchy when muddy. Looks great though, awesome having an adjustable width alley. I haven't had one like that yet! long time subscriber love the videos man. Keep em coming! 🤙
I have a cattle squeeze , never used the thing . I'd sell it if I knew what it would be worth . Enjoy your videos
Was hear
Awesome video!
Woooooo!
Cool
Helps to load cattle up in the trailer as well. Just back up to the head gate and open it up. At least thats what we do on our farm.
G'DAY Josh,a great start to a set of cattle yards,my advice after building several sets & working in many ( handling between 500-1000 head per day), would be to work into your design a roofed( just flat corrupted iron, will suffice a section especially on your preferred working side, the length of the final crush,as protection from sun primarily and the rain,if it showers,is the difference between getting the planned cattle work done,or especially if you are planning using a vet in an insemination program, the other Must have design feature is a 2' wide ramp walkway on side of loading ramp,to assist when loading trucks( though you being in the giant category, maybe can do without ramp,as always, Kindest Regards, Dave McLaughlin Queensland Australia
I would put some dirt down on top of the gravel it’s hard on cows feet and may cause you foot problems
Wow is that interresting! Totally different from our working with cattle on our dairy farm with Lely milkrobots. I would like to see it in action.
Do you also dehorn them? We have started a few years ago with hornless breeding. Meanwhile more than half of the new cows were born hornless.
See ya next time. Many greetings from Germany.
Farmer Janny
Hi Josh I was expecting to see your father in law tag your ear lol
The girls probably said “AH CHUTE” he bought a chute
Pop such have gloved up and checked the prostrate why you were in there LOLOLOL
Josh , Our Wyoming Life has a cow handler.
Is that the same women that the movie was made about? You met her! Nice...
Yes
He did a video with her. Just search Temple on his video page.
O cool you got a squeeze chute
Good video, but one question, how will gravel keep the cow from seeing its shadow? :)
must be getting close to vet checkup time on the cattle
Hi sis just want to get everything in place did you paint the bottom I love huge with an iron rod to the ground
Had Tarter system until a high-headed heifer bucked her head, hit the mechanism above the front gates which opened the gates and she ran off..be careful with that. Thanks for sharing
Owl ran his kids threw the arrowquip system
Hi Stoney Ridge farmer I have watched your videos for almost a year now or more than a year and I was wonder How do I get money for buying a chicken coop and the chicks and their supplies because I am almost a teen and my parents will let me get chickens if I can pay for them and their supplies and the good chicken coops are expensive
Farm toys for farm boys ( and Ms)
Sweet, still don't how you can afford all these cool toys and equipment but awesome none the less
Sponsors, ads, and business try outs. Not to mention both of them come from a medical background, so not like they were broke before the CZcams lol
👍👍👍
Hey Mr. SR, when and how do you dehorn your cattle?
Our cattle breed doesn’t grow horns my friend
Your gonna find out the hard way that the gravel was a bad idea cause they are understress in the chute so they poop and after working 30 cows in one day there is poop everywhere and will be hard to wash cause the gravel even with a pressure washer
Best is to have a concrete pad
Thanks for the input
Do you have walk in access on the squeeze shoot for the Vet? All I’ve the vets I’ve seen and worked cattle with palpate inside the squeeze shoot directly behind the cow. Never through the side, that would be a great way to break your arm or seriously injure your shoulder if she started kicking or laid down quickly. Just something else to think about. May want to check with your vet on how/where they stand to palpate.
Needs to add a palpation cage to the back of the chute to make it easier to work on the back side of the cattle. A cut off gate at the back of the second section would keep cattle from backing out of the alley also.
Miss your intro music, please bring it back. Thanks👍
Do you bolt this down to the ground or it just all sits on the gravel? The cattle don’t shift it when they get restless in the squeeze?
just sits on the gravel...this is heavy equipment
I would make a winning pen also
You gonna be installing a loading ramp to
You need a few more cows now mate
18:27 You forgot something in the demo, you didn't get your ear pierced...
🤣 absolut!
You are so funny...
Josh do you post videos any other place or is it just CZcams and Facebook?
Where's your new ear tag?....lol
Didn't realize you had property across the road.. how many acres?
150 total
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer yeah I was just curious how much was across the road and if you show it much.
Do you still have the john deere tractor
Yep
How do you afford all this stuff? Your herd looks too small to service all that debt and feed the family? Shoot, you start out with a gravel spreading tractor.
I work hard and plan and build my friend
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer good answer, your a damn good worker
You place and projects rock brother! Love the gadgets too! Keep it up, you're creating a legacy farm. 👍
I personally do not like the self catching head gates
What is the difference between a farm and a ranch
How does he how so much money to spend to tractors and new things for his farm?
Great video but please go back to your original music in the intro! That was you playing and singing: priceless. It's like Vice Grip Garage now! Doesn't sound farmy...
So is raising cattle and selling them going to be your income from the farm? Or are you going to butcher them and sell the meat?
I like the videos Josh but man that beard must go...it's just not Josh!!
That is not your stepdad he is your dad
I can’t decide if the audience you’re targeting is in a nursing home or a daycare
I guess you can decide since you watched the video 👍
