- In this video I'm giving you some tips on how to find the BEST camera angles for your CZcams Videos! Many times people try to use a low angle shot or a high angle shot in their camera angle types and cinematography. Incredible thanks. With no formal background in video, itâs been a blast learning to create spaces to provide the viewer with a certain experience.
As a musician it reminds me so much of a buddy who was excited to play a few songs he wroteâŠthey sounded awful on his iPhone, but was kind. I took him in my home studio and began re-recording a song of his, but professionally.
His eyes just lit up with excitement from the first guitar take.

Awesome glad it helped!
cool. thanks
Youâre welcome!
This quality of your videos is awesome! Thank you, I learned a lot. Do you teach online classes?
I just released my brand new course that you can get here: www.learnvideolighting.com
Perfect. This addresses all of the things that make me unimpressed with my videos. The placement section had me going like....Yeah!......Ooooh! So that's why
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! I would also mention "head space". But as you mentioned, putting the eyes on the top horizontal line should create enough headspace, but it's not guaranteed (maybe their head and/or hair is huge! haha). Too much or too little is what to watch out for.
Yes in hindsight should have mentioned that as well, Iâll hit this topic again in the future tho, thanks for catching that Steve!
@@benjohnsoncreative No problem bro. I just remember getting yelled at a lot starting out as a cam op about headspace, obviously it's ingrained in my brain still, haha.
Your setup is so nice! Trying to get mine together and it's a has been a challenge.
Hey! What was that thing mounted on top of your camera? Didn't look like a monitor, was it a mirror?
Yes! This was before I had a good flip out screen. This mirror is a great hack! amzn.to/3uv6Ump
Thanks for being amazing đ€đ€đ€ with love from nigeria đłđŹđ„°đ
Thanks Emma and Sophie!
Love the current studio setup
Thanks Joseph! Iâm enjoying it too! You can see my set up for it here if you havenât: czcams.com/video/TBcMoR0laxk/video.html
@@benjohnsoncreative watched it last week mate, your teaching is amazing
fantastic! Got what I came for.
Glad I could help!
Thank you SO MUCH. Right now Iâm working on creating a vibe and I feel like Iâm epically failing đŹđ
You got this!
How do you get your background to be darker than you in the video? I might be wrong but it looks like you have white walls. I do as well and they reflect the light pretty heavily. I love the background look but not sure how to achieve it.
It has a lot to do with camera settings as well as the placement and brightness of your key light. This video may help: czcams.com/video/XjexTWJ_D24/video.html
@@benjohnsoncreative Thank you!
A question â
If I am working on SW that has camera in it should I higher the ISO to get more light then reduce the light after I get my photo out ?
What should I increase and what to decrease?
Thanks đ
Thanks
Youâre welcome!
*Thanks Ben,*
*Great informative video as usual đ âš*
*How do you set the white balance for your* *videos?*
*Thanks*
5600k is what I prefer in controlled environments
@@benjohnsoncreativeThanks for your reply
Yes I mean for indoor youtube studio
I'm surprised you recommend to position yourself in the middle rather than off to the side (like in photos). I find it helps to change positions left to right in the frame to reset viewers attention and also helps with text overlays. You've got me thinking about using a corner angle rather than a flat wall where I hang my backdrop...thoughts?
Try out the corner angle, cool thing about shooting in the middle is thatâs typically where the lens is sharpest and you could crop in post to position yourself on either side or leave in middle
@@benjohnsoncreative ok thx for the tip...filming in a corner angle makes sense in terms of using leading lines and adding some depth. Curious about your thoughts of using a colored background (like you have) versus a backdrop such as a wall hanging (which is what i currently use) or shelves? It probably depends on your audience
All of the above, hereâs an example: czcams.com/video/oFX-WBh1hok/video.html
Awesome video! So helpful! What is the screen type thing on top of your camera?
Itâs a lifesaver for Sony cameras that donât have flip out screens haha. Itâs a little mirror monitor: amzn.to/2PbxBKM
@@benjohnsoncreative thank you so much! Just what I needed!
Are you using the Sennheiser MKH in this video?
Hi Ben, with what profile do you record your videos to get that color? C-Log ?, thanks
Here this video talks about it: czcams.com/video/cljkygq8GKE/video.html
@@benjohnsoncreative Thanks Ben âșïžđ
Hey Ben, great vid! Could you share which song you used for this vid from Soundstripe in the intro?
Yes itâs on my playlist page: app.soundstripe.com/playlists/music/238518
@@benjohnsoncreative thank you!! I looked for that Sony forever and found your channel today! Itâs really helpful! Could you do a video potentially on how you would do a product video with a larger subject like a 65â television? Iâve struggled with how to set my camera and lens to have larger areas in focus while keeping the lighting appropriate! Either way, cheers mate, enjoying your channel!
@@CoZChristopher Yes I'll try to cover that in the future in the meantime you can check out this video it may give some ideas: czcams.com/video/l7WjdZBCUJk/video.html
