    I’m bummed that several police departments as well as the US Secret Service all dumped the .357 Sig for a 9mm. They all made the .357 Sig more expensive for regular owners of the caliber.

    My old department (LA Sheriff and now retired), issued all of us the M&P 1.0 in 9mm. That gun was so unreliable that my department told S&W to replace the guns or they’d go back to beretta or Glock. S&W took all of our 1.0’s back (12,000 of them) and gave us brand new 2.0’s and for a straight trade-back across the board. It was night and day when it came to reliability. The 1.0’s were junk. Now that I’m retired though, I carry the Glock 31, 32 or 33 (all .357Sig). I love that round! 125gr Gold dots.

      I own 2 M&Ps. A 2014 era 1.0 M&P bought in 2020. I got a new 2.0 .40 4.25" model in 2021. Added Trijicon HDs, orange: later 2023 added Cerakote Storm(Elite). I bought 2 KKM barrels. 1 9mm & 1 .357sig. I do armed security, 🚔 & tote the 9mm M&P 2.0 more. The .357sig is okay but honestly, I carry .40s or 9x19mm far more.

    Bravo Turkey! You explained correctly how the .357Sig actually came from a trimmed and crimped 10mm. So many people wrongly believe that it’s a necked down. 40, but that is 100% incorrect. A necked down 40 case would actually be shorter than a .357Sig case.

    • @yartp
      @yartp Před 10 měsíci +1

      Claiming the 10mm over the 40S&W as the parent brass of the 357 Sig has always been a pet peeve of mine. I go with how it played out historically.
      S&W and Winchester developed a cartridge using the 10mm as the parent brass. Shortened to fit in 9mm sized framed guns and utilizing the common small pistol primer, more than sufficient for the smaller case volume. Four years later, Sig /Federal come out with a shortened, necked down also with a small primer utilizing the 10mm as the parent case to fit in 9mm sized platform known as the 357 Sig. Other than adding a few thousands of an inch to the brass length of a 40S&W, the 357 Sig is a necked down 40S&W. Had the 357 Sig come out before the 40S&W, I would get it.

      @@yartp If I read your comment right, you’re saying the .357 Sig is from a 40 case then???? If that’s what you’re saying, you are mistaken. If one tries to neck down a 40 case into a useable a SAFE ..357Sig case, then that would be just as ridiculous and unwise when trying to stretch a .38spl case into a .357 magnum case. Total fail. The 40. Case when necked down, become too short length wise to be a safely workable “.357 Sig case.”

    • @joshuadeanb

      They wanted it to be 40/9 length, but they couldn’t use 40 brass, so they only trimmed the 10 out of convenience. Claiming the 10 as a parent case is misleading…it’s misrepresenting the length of the cartridge.

      I reload 357 sig made from 40 cases , I still have all fingers and full face. After the close case examination It is clear that the base of the case and walls are the same thickness and depth. Only difference is that the neck has les tension to hold the bullet but if you are reloading for a while there is no problem.

    As far as deleting your safety. I've never done it, a friend of mine did it to his 45. He had an issue after uninstalling it where there was a rattle in the gun. So he tried reinstalling it and the rattle persisted, even though it functioned properly. Granted he's not a gun Smith and probably hasn't done much work on any guns at all even as a novice. I've seen where other people have had the same problem "online of course".

It can(and will) flip on or off with a nudge, sit in a car, walk by a doorframe, etc. Annoying 🤨. My 2.0 .40 has no safety & holds up well. A big - was my front Trijicon sight came off, 😏 but I think the gunsmith screwed it up. My 2.0 .40 has after market Storm Cerakote Elite too; slide.

      SIG Sauer or "SIGarms" T&Eed the caliber in the mid 1990s to replicate the 2.5" K frame .357mag ballistics. SIG wanted a improved .40S&W style caliber to fit existing 9x19mm style hand guns like the P226, P229, P224. Plus the now, out dated P2022 model. SIG got many state & federal agency 📂 contracts. Cops & SAs, troopers loved the .357 bullet. As the 1990s & 2000s went on, more PDs shifted to .45acp, .40 or the +P type 9mm. Some got swept up in the 10mm & .45GAP trend.

    I cannot think of any logical reason to choose not to drift the sights for left and right correction.

      If sights are centered/zeroed its usually not the gun... it's the shooter. When I rule out shooter, ill consider drifting. But I shoot so many different guns with all sorts of ammo , so I expect to not be perfect on any of them without a fair amount of practice to refresh muscle memory. 👍🦃👊

      @@theturkeysopinion if it hits consistently to the right it does not matter if it's the gun or the shooter. just adjust the sights to compensate for whatever the cause is, so it hits consistently in the center. When you bore sight a barrel it is centered. That does not mean a bullet will hit exactly where the bore is pointing. In fact it never works out that way..
