as someone that never played the game it looks like a mix of Lego Fortnite and legends arceus
I hate it. The design of creatures seem like just a mix and match of Pokemon. There are too much similarities. I’m not even a Pokemon gamer I just don’t like this way of making the design. It’s less of an inspiration and more of a copy and paste which is terrible.
People that never played it will say it sucks. People that actually played it will enjoy it for what it actually is. I went in expecting a Pokemon game. I got a survival crafting game with some creatures you can exploit.

Exactly. Nintendo/Game Freak don't own the rights to what regular animals look like. A sheep is pretty much just a ball of wool. Any designs based on sheep, are going to have similarities. Same with that wolf thing.
The thing is, people aren't flocking to Palworld due to the designs. They're flocking because we're FINALLY getting some actual innovation in the genre.

You're just repeating stuff you heard on the internet with no proof because you're butthurt that a small indie dev is shoving it's low budget boot all the way down Nintendo's billion dollar throat.
Ultimately, if Gamefreak hadn't been a mediocre studio for the past decade, failing to innovate or even provide stable experiences, they wouldn't have put themselves in this situation. That's how the market works. You snooze, you lose.
Also, you do know that by your logic, Pokemon is a rip off of Dragon Quest and the original Megami Tensei games, and Ark is just a minecraft rip off with dinosaurs.

It's not "innovating" it's just recreating those 'childhood game with guns' memes and selling it.
Literally all it has is that shock value, the novelty of getting an original game with the classic gimmick is gonna wear off and it's gonna flatline in popularity.

Also, since it's not innovating, can you point me to the other games that successfully mix the monster taming genre with open world survival craft? I've never seen that combined ever before, and so felt it was pretty innovative, but since it's apparently not, I'm now gonna have to check out all the other titles that did it before.
I think a lot of the Pals are drawing from more than one... The cinderace green clone's neck ruff is identical to Hisuian Arcanines, the cobalion clone has altaria's cloud wrapped around its neck... xatu's clone has trumbeak's beak as well as xatu's theme and colouring. Flaafy's clone is incorporating elements of Shiny Virizion.
And the Electabuzz clone is blatantly meant to look like a fusion of electabuzz and Totoro (not even a pokemon!!!)
It's very obvious to me that the Palworld designs weren't similar by accident or by virtue of them sharing an artstyle - They are VERY overtly trying to reference existing pokémon. And if AI was used in the design process its clearly sampling pokémon images to come up with its designs. I don't think you can avoid culpability for blaming the plagiarism on AI.

Everyone keeps comparing Grintale to Galarian Meowth. That is Catbus. Its eyes even light up and its a rideable Pal. It's the pair for Grizzbolt, which everyone says is Electabuzz, but it's just Totoro.
I do find it really funny that they're going after Jetragon for looking like a Lati (Which is a stretch) when SPARROWMON has existed for ages, and that digimon is just a yellow lati with more detail tossed on it.
Also, uh. "That's Lucario." It's... It's literally designed after Anubis. It's literally called Anubis. you know, the Egyptian god. The one with the jackals head. You know, that historical god? That Lucario is slightly modeled after?? Anubis.
The Green bunny is the one i take the most offence at, because it turned out ugly. Taking from a sick design like Cinderace and ending up with a hideous creature is a sin.

When I was playing palworlds and saw grin tail, I did not immediately think of galarian Meowth, I thought of purugly which I also love because the designs are just big hefty cat.
when I saw the grizzbolt and didn't even remotely think of Electabuzz, it's wild to compare two similar colored designs and say they're the same.
The Anubis one makes me so heated because I'm pretty sure Lucario is also a jackel (and I like Anubis' design better anyways), which brings me into the other point of basing things on animals. hedgehogs, deer, birds, and others aren't trademarked by Pokemon? I don't know why people keep bashing on the game, and the ai claim is wild lol

Just to clear it up, I do not hate Pokemon, I've been playing since HeartGold and have been a huge fan ever since, and after pokemon XY, I've been disappointed more and more feeling like game freak doesn't care anymore. Arceus (from what I've heard from my friend) actually did some good stuff, but then they just scrapped the idea. So I think palworlds even in this super early stage is a HUGE competitor for Pokemon. We have to see if gamefreak improves because of the competition.

Most pals aren't 1:1 clones. They're frankensteins of multiple pokemon. The "Sobble" pal is a mash up of sobble, clodsire, and slowpoke. It's not even like you could maybe see those similarities by squinting. It is clodsire's body with sobble's fin and slowpoke's face.
A ton of these are a huge stretch, like the hedgehog, the wolf and the alpaca, like I didn't know nintendo invented those animals
ill just put this out there a lot of pals and pokemon are based on real animals and there is only so many ways u can change a fox or a hedgehog to fit in a fantsay setting. so unless the big N says that only they can use animals as referance or they can prove they took assets. also the cat one looks more like alice in wonderlands

Tbh i kinda miss when pokemon wasnt open world simply cause in open world pokemon games wild encounters are kinda lame. Like old games u had to run through grass and hope u didint get thrown into a battle against a wild pokemon. It made exploration more meaningfull than it is now. Now all you do is... oh, i can see all the wild pokemon. Let me just...avoid them entierly. To where the grass you cant avoid encounters and makes traveling from point A to point B more than just walking around the wild pokemon. Also not to mention the whole surprise eliment of finding wild pokemon is kinda gone too once your able to vishualy see them roaming around at all times. So now you cant be amazed or hyped when you accidently stumble across a cool pokemon dureing your playthrough. Or have that eeger descovery bone in your body that wants to explore an area to find cool new pokemon. But if you know whats out there then it kinda kills the hype. Not even gonna mention open world pokemon not being able to have any cool puzzles cause no HMs or need for any HMs.

@@01devilsmilitia my guy i aint gonna go out of my way to walk up to a wild pkmn and fight it when there just gonna keep respawing. What chu tryna even do at that point besides stall the story out. The whole point of max repell was to keep you from encountering pkmn. But atleast when it wore off there was still no avoiding them even if u wanted too. The whole point of battleing wild pokemon imo is to catch them. But if you already have them in home theres really no point. Unless you just wana grind exp for whatever reason. But candys make grinding pointless too

2. The designs are not an example of two companies taking inspiration from the same animals or myths... Many of Palworld's pal designs are very clearly adaptations of existing Pokemon designs, Look at the Green Cinderace clone or their version of Luxray... These are blatant examples of plagiarism not simultanteous mutual inspiration.

The biggest two reasons why some look the same as pokemon, Palworld is a pokemon-like, the creators have mimicked the style and that is not illegal. If you were to do the same with pokemons own pokemon, you'll find many lookalikes. The second biggest reason being that Palword has based their pals of off real animals, like pokemon... Like, what do you mean the 'deer theme' Does game freak own anything deer related or something now. shadow-beak and Silvally are both based on the design of a gryphon, just because pokemon has a gryphon style character doesn't mean they now own all gryphon designs, like how marvel doesn't own Loki, you can have your own loki design without issue. Imagine comparing a snake character to another snake character, they look the same because they're fucking snakes, but even then, they're different, which is with all of them. Just because something looks the same or similar doesn't mean the people who own the character own all variations of said character, if this was the case, anyone who drew a fox, dog, horse etc, would be breaking copyright.
Of course they don't own all the fox like creature in other games because they have evoli... Problem is that pal world probably used an AI tool to mix 2 Pokemon into one. So many examples there. (PS I don't care. Love pal world. Hope Pokemon gets ruined. Hate that company for 20 years now. Since Smaragd I did newer buy a new game)

ive despised pokemon since emerald/ruby/sapphire, and i dont have any problem with ai seeing i use it pretty commonly. love palworld. got probably 70ish hours in it so far.
but it really does look like multiple were touched up AI generated. theres no proof one way or the other, but you have to be delusional to not see the strong possibility, especially with all the goings on of AI use today. just as possible as using a pokemon model as a base and working on that manually to get the obviously inspired models we have.
just want to reiterate the fact that even if they are, i dont give a shit. if ai helps leads to something interesting/enjoyable im all for it.

The thing is Palworld could've covered themselves better. They made too many similarities that it's hard to not see them as just Pokemon. They're natural super powered animals who have undetermined origins. Primarily using elements. You catch them via "spheres" with a percentage based chance based off their health. I'm not even talking gameplay I'm just talking about the "Immersive World" of Palword's Palmons. There's a team rocket clone. The towers are just gym leaders. Almost everything surrounding the Palmons is exactly like Pokemon.
Digimon is digital monsters. Shin Megami Tensai is using historical mythology and folklore. Monster rancher is an isekai in a videogame. What makes Palmon different? That's how they fucked up

1 the ears and color palette is from leafeon.
2 is skitty/delcatty mixed with purloin and purserker.
3 serperior mixed with primarina color palette and theming,
4 aggron + zekrom with a hint of darkrai.
5 Scorupi and drapion mixed with pawniards face, and heidregon color palette.
6 is indeed garchomp + toxtricity, but that headshape is specifically sceptile, the fur comes from lycanroc.
7 sylvaly mixed with zekrom and corviknight.
8 Sobble, slowbro's whole line, and Stunfisk color palette.
9 Shaymin and togedemaru.
10 braixen with mismagius's hat.
11 could be many many things, but to me looks like pikachu ears, jigglypuff body, covering in wooloo fur and colorpalette.

I’d compare the one you said looks like Natu more to Xatu, the one you said looks like Espurr to the shiny version, and the one you said looks like Meowstic to the male version.
Honestly, the only ones that I think are genuine comparisons are Verdash, Cremis, and Fenglope. The rest either just have a similar color scheme (like Tocotoco and Robinquill), they have the same overal feeling (like Incineram and Orserk), or they are just based on the same thing (like Anunis, Tanzee, Grintale, and Pyrin)
Azurobe gets a pass because it looks completely original on its own, even if they do have similar features to Primarina and Serperior
The Shiny Luxray and Mewtwo comparisons aren't even in the game, so I'm not going to address those

I’m guessing Palworld got the ok for the designs with their legal teams before making the game, but it’s clear how close they are to the real Pokémon designs.

And it's not up to the lawyers/legal team to decide on copyright/trademark/etc.
Usually it's decided by the Copyright office/gov department or something like that.
And plenty of people/companies went ahead with products/works that later are revealed to be copyright infringements anyway and later get hit with lawsuits. That's why copyright/trademark/IP thefts lawsuits exist.
They don't even have a legal team, let alone a creative team. They hired an animator and an artist literally 4 months before release lol

Thats look like AI imagination though, like take this existing idea and change this aspect of it. They resemble what i think an AI image generator would design. Most ppl are smart ebough, when they take inspirtation to not leave the part the copied as it is, but Ai is not.

Eh. I think palworld was pretty intentionally a parody of pokemon to begin with, and that isn't "wrong", it's just derivative like writing fanfic (50 shades?). That said, a lot of these are way off base IMO. Heck if you google 'fluffy cartoon sheep' you might as well say some of the stock images ripped off woolu. At best you can say they copied the idea of having a sheep pet, and that's not exactly groundbreaking. The hedgehog? Half the sticker packs on facebook have characters that look more similar to that than the pokemon than it supposedly ripped off. Electabuzz 'lookalike' is also based on Totoro if anything.
I think everyone is failing to understand where Nintendo got their inspiration for pokemon's "framework". It's from animals... that exist on the planet Earth. It is not stealing if you design a creature that already exists. I'm sorry for all you pokenerds, but its just facts. People draw sheep all the time. Normally they are round, wooly, and small. Cinderace is a bipedal grass monkey vs a bipedal fire rabbit. Also Grintale is not inspired by perrserker. Instead its the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. At least the colour scheme and the smile. Azurobe and Serperior are both serpents. One is water and the other is grass. Nothing alike other than that. Jolthog and shaymin are modelled after hedgehogs. Different types again grass and electric. I could go on and on. Not saying that all pals dont look like some pokemon. Such as the electabuzz thingy and some others. That is their only valid case, because majority of pals and pokemon are modelled after things that already exist on Earth.
Nothings worse than how gamefreak rips off its fanbase.... last few entries looked and performed terribly
51 hours played on palworld, i can name many many of my fav pokemon, but i have no fav pals. some look cute some look interesting but im not attached to any and idk why.

I’ve been saying for years how much I wish Pokémon or someone would make a similar game but geared toward the adults who love their games. Drop the nostalgic sounds and loops that mirror the gameboy origins and modernize. Arceus was an absolute blast and a beautiful game but still only a leap in the right direction when the massive amount of money and customers loyal to pokemon should merit AAA games that are instead pumped out so fast they clearly do not care about customer experience or value and are as a result bound to be replaced by a company that does value us and our investment.
I hope we get a dialga/mewto mix ❤😅😊 and a dragoran/charizard

There's a million pokemon now a days I love how everyone is tryin to make palworld out as a rip off but the real truth is it's better then some of the newer games pokemon has came out with🤣🤣 and that truth scares Nintendo, pokemon, and trainers
This is a fascinating development, because in a way the Pokemon company allowed this to happen by stubbornly refusing to keep their franchise modern in terms of graphics, gameplay, and quality of life for its players. But on the other hand, if these "pals" are indeed a result of stolen assets mashed together using AI, then Palworld's success should terrify us all and I hope Nintendo gets the game shut down; not because I dislike the devs or the product, but because of all the ways this will hurt the gaming industry if it goes unchallenged.
The only way Pokemon could have better graphics is to abandon their deal with Nintendo and put their games on other hardware. I think that would be bad for both companies, but it also takes it out of the reach of much of their fan base as the switch is the most child friendly console.
Scarlet and Violet have their performance issues but remember there are 4 times the number of pokemon in the base game of Scarlet and Violet as there are Pals... with over 1000 with the release of the DLC. Its a huge undertaking just to get them all in the game. And then you have to account for Pokemon home and integration with pokemon go. They're pushing the switch to its absolute limits and they could only feasibly improve on that by sticking to the design of games like Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, rather than the open world style of Scarlet and Violet.
I don't think S/Vs performance issues make it unplayable - far from it. In fact the only issue I've had is the occassional frame rate stutter.
I’m guessing the Pokémon Co will sue for copyright infringement. They force CZcamsrs to change their screen names and that’s just a name, so I highly doubt this is going to go on much longer. I see a cease-and-desist impossible lawsuit in this company’s future play while you can.
They can't. If they did, they would have already done it almost as quick as the Pokemon mod because they've known about this game for years
(This information was released recently) The Pokemon CEO came out to tell us that they have no plans to sue Palworld
People are just angry that it sold a lot. You can't control what people buy.
1. Trailers were there but no one was saying anything but now it sold a lot, that's when people start.
2. they obviously look like pokemon, people don't understand how copyright works, you can't copyright art style or mechanics.

@@lulucantthinkofaname no, they're not the same thing. Are you blind? Theres several features in each example which make them different. Go find a Pre-K Prep book and do some of those "Find the one that's different". Those easy as hell puzzles are harder to find the difference than this.
