You could very well be correct in the fact that it could be an audio file that is shutting the program down.
I am basically starting the project over again starting with just the video files.
I will add my music and audio files later.
Then if it shuts down I will know it's possibly an audio file.

I must tell you.
Power director actually crashed on me two times today.
One of the crashes it asked me to send a report which I did.
I'm sure I will not get a reply back because I don't have the subscription version I have the paid version.
Also some of the video clips were sticking in the timeline that weren't really there.
This is truly amazing.
I'm not going to get upset about it because I've been through these things many times before with
Corel.
I am unable to read your replies due to my poor vision.
Macular degeneration.
I am doing this on my phone and it's not the type of thing where I can pinch and make it larger.

I will reply anyway, I have had it crash as well it sometimes happens when playing around with templates. I think they just fill up video memory and that causes the crashes. As for ghosting on the timeline I have never seen that before.

Video through text is a great way to start a video or end one especially with a zoom effect and some great sound effects.

I had five crashes in a row today in power director one right after the other.
I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is now let me tell you how I corrected it.
My experience is when a project gets too large or too complicated the software can't handle it.
So what I did was produced what I had and saved it.
Plus I also renamed it..
I loaded it back into the editor.
There have been no crashes so far.
I believe once it's basically all assembled.
It's not so hard on the software as if it had whole bunch of bits and pieces of different things that I'm putting in there.
I'm going to get this video done one way or another.

Hello Keith.
I have a strange suspicion that it's a sound file, and your computers sound drivers dont like it. I tried Cyberlinks new software called Promeo. It worked fine on my laptop but on my desktop pc it crashed everytime I tried to change a sound file. I have found that some sound drivers cause problems with editing software and I think this might be the cause. An update on all drivers on your computer may solve the problem.
I struggled to read what you said but I believe you said possibly a corrupted or bad sound file.
I agree that could be one of the problems.
Or even possibly a bad or corrupted video file.
But I am going to keep plugging away at it and keep you posted.

Darn nice Harvey.
Now for my latest problem in power director.
I am now getting video clips that stay stuck in there even after I remove them.
The only way to make the program straighten out is to shut it down and restart it and then the clips are gone.
Quite puzzling.
I don't know if it's because the larger project I'm working on or what.
But I am not going to sweat over it.
It has happened four times in a row now so I got disgusted and gave it a break..

That's strange, are they in your library or still on the timeline? If you open PowerDirector and create a new project does it show any previous video clips already before you add anything to your library? It sounds like a cache problem, or heaven forbid a diskdrive failure ensuing.
Would you go through the steps to transform a video into a cartoon looking video with the plug ins. I did this once in an earlier version and I cannot seem to do it in this updated 2024 version of power director suite. Thanks.

I was just last week looking at this, in the earlier versions you had to add an FX track to your timeline. While you can still add this track in the updated version it is not necessary. Just put you clip on track one and drop your FX onto track two. Now a couple of times I have found this to be a little buggy. Just finishing up this weeks vid so I will look into this again next.
A quick update, I have just given this another run and you can add an FX track under your video track, and you can also just drop your fx directly onto the vid. However using the FX track seems to get better results. I will def, be giving this a tutorial vid has it seems somewhat clumsy.
