      +Demolition Lovers I always hated running exactly because of that but after a few years out of school I now actually enjoy running. Try to run with someone else, that always motivates me or listen to audio books. Also, start small, it will be a lot easier! :)

    Coffee is a no-no before running. It dehydrates you and the buzz from it isn't slow released (like a banana or banana smoothie). Plus, I personally wouldn't run with a sock over my hand, holding a water bottle... wtf? lol :\ You should be able to run for up to 10k without water if you hydrate (without coffee) throughout the day, beforehand.

      I can't even go 30 minutes without water, let alone run 10km without water (I can't run more than 3km anyway or I'll die). Yep, recently quit smoker here, who has gained quite some weight :s
      But I agree that the sock and water bottle thing are rediculous. Usually I just run laps of about 1km and drop a bottle at the starting point (it's in a forest, so no one would steal it).

      Actually no. It's been proven that stretching before any work out is bad. It can potentially harm you more than what it would actually help. What you should do is warm up instead.

My family has been involved with track for over 60 years and I've been in track and field for 9 years (Started when I was 9 in club track, currently 18).     In the middle of December, I ran my first half marathon at the age of 14 under 2 hours and got a medal for finishing third in my age group. I'd never ran anything over 10 miles, so running 13 in 20 degree weather was absolute torture, but I loved finishing and being so proud.

    Not sure if anyone said it, but you should never consume caffeine or alcohol before, during, or right after a run. Instead of sweating water out, you'll be urinating every 5 minutes. If you want help running, run with a friend.

    The 'Focus' thing is pretty much true. Been doing that on most of my runs, it really helps keeping your mind off from exhaustion. The only problem is to find a good object to focus on and finding a new one lol.

    SOCK thing SUCKS. They slide down your arm and bottle makes your hand tired. Instead, buy a regular ipod holder and carry a small pouch of water on your waist. Also, use a golf ball. It is better and gets deep in those tissues.

      Chicken Fancy Pants I am a jogger. I jog for ten miles a day on average. Why would I have fat arms? Even then if you were even to put a sock on your arm and an iPod or phone in it, it would very likely slide down when you run. Better off, you go ahead and try it and see for yourself.

      +Emma 5sos I usually eat half of a Hersey's bar 45 minutes before my race. It's actually supposed to help to have a little caffeine before you start. So coffee would be good. (Only for short speed runs . DONT DO IT FOR ANYTHING OVER 5 MILES. And also not directly before. You would die)

    Don't drink a smoothie before you run. Your stomach will ache. Don't drink coffee before you run you will crash. Have some carbs instead

    Need a quick meal before you run? Eat a sock! Got no running shoes? Simply wear another pair of socks! Don't have a water bottle? Put a sock into another sock, fill with water! SPONSERED BY SOCKFEED

    I really wanna start running faster (it'll most likely help me later on) but everytime I try, my legs instantly get tired, my heart beats so fast it'll start hurting, I breathe and wheeze like I haven't breathed in hours. I basically can't go more than a mile or I'll collapse.

      Same here. But we just have to keep going. It won't be easy, and it will take time, but eventually it will get easier. Every step will be worth it 💪🏼
      But you don't have to push yourself too hard. If breathing or your legs hurt, stop running and continue the next day

      You have to build up speed gradually to prevent injury. Try cross training by biking or machines at the gym.

    The sock as a water bottle holder is something new I learned! I just don't like using it for more than 10 miles because the swishing in the bottle gets annoying. These are neat DIY tricks though

    The focus trick is my favourite, a thing any runner discovers in grade school. The tennis ball is the next best suggestion(though I do not need it) while the rest are pointless to my situation(and probably any real runner).
