    2023 and this vid was very helpful thanks for keeping it alive. Just to note on UK bike the idle gear should be the other way around to stop it catching the inside sump. Thanks again

    You can buy the parts including the gasket from a Yamaha OEM part retailer like partzilla and sometimes they have them on ebay, too.

    Wish I fitted my new kickstart shaft myself I know it was an easy job now watching I know how easy it is

  • @AlsGarage
    @AlsGarage  Před 11 lety +2

    Push the kickstart assembly into the hole. Then turn it clockwise while still pushing it into the hole and you will have accomplished the same thing. Maybe I made it sound more complicated than it is in the video.

    Great video, Would it be to much to ask to get a list of the part numbers needed for this conversion? Thanks in advance

    The black thing between my thumb and index finger at 0:12, right? Good question. It's a metal cap with a rubber outer layer that will pop out if you hit it hard enough. You want to hit it from the inside of the crankcase going out so you will need something blunt to hit it with. I read that someone did it with a hammer and crankcase screw. Make sure to clean the whole afterwards to get a good seal.

    if I order the parts, how do I put the assembly together? The manual makes no reference to kickstarter. do you know which other kickstarter can be used on the sr250

    i've learned from this quite a bit yet I still can't find an kickstarter for my yammy. I've seen the OEM site but these parts are sold individually and I am not certain I can put them together correctly. There is nothing about this in my factory service manual.

    Thanks for the video, nice job on it. How did you knock the little plug out of the right side engine cover that the kickshaft is gonna go through? Do you knock it in towards the motor or out like you are knocking it through the cover? Did you heat it up at all? Thanks

    Do you know which bike's kickstarter would work on this bike?
    I've checked around and read that the XT250 and SR250 share the same engine, but the SR250 never got a kicker. True?
    Do you have some serial number or any information of a kickstarter that would fit this bike?

    Hey, I got one more question for you. Around 4:06 you describe that the lever from the kick axle assembly must come up on the stopper. Could you talk on that a little more? I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

  • @bikebreak4523
    @bikebreak4523 Před 5 lety

    Old but worth noting, you didnt check the starter freespins, assuming its correct in the stopper position etc and just putting a case back on could cause serious damage, obviously you checked but people may not think of it as it all spins with the clutch basket etc
