    What happend was it cracked the stopper and the big spring fell out, i put it back together and find out the smaller spring was loose and it should be tight as i know
    Was that the cause of the kickstarter engaging while the engine going backwards?

    I just bought a 2005 rmz250 and the kick start is stuck they said it was running 2weeks ago it had fresh gas still. The kickstart get to the position to where you can kick it to start it but it just won’t budge when trying to start it could this be the reason I’m gonna check myself it just I love in Houston and it’s about to be raining for a week

    • @SchnebsGarage
      @SchnebsGarage  Před 5 lety +1

      Can you push start the bike? Or at least see if the engine turns over that way. 250's a bit harder but if you need to take out the spark plug and bump start it just to make sure the engine can turn over freely. If not you got yourself an engine rebuild to do. Don't force things that are stuck, never ends well, you'll usually just damage more than what originally needed fixing. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

    • @SchnebsGarage
      @SchnebsGarage  Před 5 lety

      First thing ..stop trying to start it or kick it. You're only doing more damage and costing yourself more $. A rattle in the engine is never a good sign, its not something easy to diagnose based on your info, but safe bet its not going to go away on its own. If youre handy take the top end and right side off the engine, most often rattles are something thats obvious once you get them apart. Could be major or it could be as simple as a broken spring. Good luck with it !!

    • @SchnebsGarage
      @SchnebsGarage  Před 6 měsíci

      That gear sliding around could end up damaging the teeth of itself and the main drive gear on the clutch housing. Of course since it freewheels most of the time it will probably be something that happens over time as opposed to a big pop and broken teeth everywhere... hopefully.

    • @SchnebsGarage

    • @SchnebsGarage
      @SchnebsGarage  Před 3 lety

      Its a big list of possible issues. Start with the easy ones, spark plug (BR10EG most likely). Check for good blue spark, weak spark could indicate a bad ignition coil, pickup or CDI box. Carb cleaining is always an issue, even a slightly dirty carb will give you a world of issues at various throttle positions. Throttle cable, are you even getting full throttle? I've had ones where the spring was binding in the carb and was only getting 2/3 throttle.

    • @thisminecraft7218

      Schneb Hi I give it full throttle on it but it just doesn’t go anywhere(not fast) it might be like you said the spark plug because the one I had we bent the tip back and put it back in after cleaning it with a wire brush that might be the problem I don’t know carb clean may be the problem but it idols for a long time so I don’t know about that

    • @SchnebsGarage
      @SchnebsGarage  Před 3 lety +1

      @@thisminecraft7218 carb has several different jets in it, there's a jet just for idling and another main jet for when youre on throttle. Also there's a metering rod that works with the jet to meter the amount of fuel that can be adjusted. Also float level can be adjusted to richen or lean the fuel mixture. Its something that can drastically affect performance if not done right.

    • @SchnebsGarage
      @SchnebsGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      If your using an impact usually just that will break it loose but sometimes it can be a pain. Propane torch for 20 or so seconds should help, heat that nut up. That nut was probably put on with threadlock and heat will break it up almost every time. If for some strange reason that doesnt work, just jam a soft piece of steel (aluminum etc.) into the large gear where it runs on the crankshaft drive gear. It won't hurt the gear teeth as they're hardened steel but honestly, heat is your ally here.

      @@calebdrake9953 Sort of a snap motion rather than just a pull. I may be old but a lifetime of workin with my hands I'm kinda strong I guess.

    My kx60 kick start is stuck. Can’t push it down. I can spin the flywheel and the bottom end (crank) is freely moving. What could be holding up the kick lever?

      Hi Nick, I'm not familiar with a KX60, dont recall ever working on one of them exactly but the problem is not that uncommon in other bikes and is most likely a broken spring on the kickstarter. You will have to drain the oil out of the transmission and pull the side cover to have a look. Good luck !
