- Research organisation Mercari R4D and students from the University of Tokyo have jointly developed an inflatable, electric scooter that riders can stash away inside their backpack.
Called Poimo, which stands for portable and inflatable mobility, the scooter comprises a body made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and detachable components including handles, wheels, a battery and motor.
Likened by its creators to the inflatable robot Disney character Baymax, otherwise known as Big Hero 6, the body of the scooter can be inflated within minutes using a small pump.
Designed for short trips around the city or last-mile journeys, the Poimo is light enough to be deflated, folded down and carried around in the user's bag, allowing them to get on and off anywhere they wish.

The idea is pretty cool, but I see a couple of flaws in the implementation:
1) I don't see any footrests. Are feet supposed to just dangle there unsupported?
2) It's a shame the air pump is not integrated with the rest of the electronic components. Why not integrate a small air pump and power it from the main scooter battery? It would elliminate the need to carry a dedicated air pump (which adds to the weight of the whole backpack, thus making the 5.5kg figure kinda pointless).
Remember, this is just a prototype.

Я вот купил электросамокат с передним приводом и оказывается что эта очень опасная штучка. С передним приводом лучше не покупать, я весь нападался. Он оказывается в 5 раз хуже чем езда на велосипеде. А этот надувной самокат лучше чем обыкновенный тем что он легче и мало места занимает. Единственный недостаток, что скорость маленькая. Может быть потом доработают инженеры компании и увеличат скорость.Таким спасибом можно сделать и табуретки надувные На роликах

I think this for slim and small sized body, but fat people has no chance the inflated scooter body will shrink immediately .

Gonna get tired of holding your feet up.
My god this look terrible in many ways. How people are suppose to find wall plugs to inflate it? there is no feet rest, you need to keep you feet elevate therefore you can get tired really easy.
It's a prototype. I think it's very easy implement the same concept that use for the handlebars to resolve the feet position.
For the plug for inflate it... I have a disconcerting information... it have a battery!!!
