    You can. It is a little more fragile but you break it into like 3 clumps. Transplant and let grow and divide them again. Its my preference to have 3 or 4 seeds per clump and in the garden.

    • @THERUSTEDGARDEN
      @THERUSTEDGARDEN  Před 3 lety

      So in the video, I have several seeds per cup. When they are 3 or 4 inches high and you get them used to the sun over a week, they are ready to be planted. They can handle cold. Once the temps are right the take off. They can spread our like a foot or so after a year so you can space them based on that.

  • @VictoriaWadsworth
    @VictoriaWadsworth Před 8 lety

    First off, Gary, I love your videos. They are quite well done and extremely informative. Secondly, I have a question. I just purchased three of these mini greenhouses and was wondering if they could be used for "winter sowing?" Thirdly, do you cover/shield your plants from the sun at all when you first put them out or do you find they are ok in full sun from the get go? Many thanks, Victoria :-)

    • @THERUSTEDGARDEN
      @THERUSTEDGARDEN  Před 8 lety

      +Victoria Wadsworth Thanks! When the are going indoors to outdoors, I do it over 7 days. I try and get them out on FULL cloudy days to start. Sometimes I put them were they only get morning sun and then shade. What I have been doing more over the years is taking the flat out for 30 minutes on sunny days and actually harden them off in the flats while they are still developing. By winter sowing do you mean all Winter or starting now outdoors? You can keep them out over a whole winter the plastic sucks LOL and it freezes and cracks. But I just put up my greenhouse this week. And am sowing cold weather crops in it.

    • @VictoriaWadsworth
      @VictoriaWadsworth Před 8 lety

      Yes, the method of putting them in plastic milk jugs etc around this time of year. But I wondered if it could be done using flats with covers...making sure the plants are watered as they would be inside the greenhouse and would lose the ability to benefit from the rain. I'm trying to figure out a way of allowing my seedlings to naturally sprout and grow strong without having to move them in and out, utilizing the mini greenhouses in some way to do so.

      Awesome thanks Gary. Been following your channels since I started planting not too long ago, December just last year. I started with a few basil seeds and my garden practically grew from two tiny trays of basil and parsley to about 50 seedlings that include herbs and a few vegetables. I keep sowing because we dont get frost. I think i got a little carried away. Now Im not sure where to transplant the rest of my seedlings LOL. Your videos helped a lot to get me started planting. Now my mom watches too. Thanks a lot!!!!
