Stanier Black Five, 44871 at Templecombe, 6th December 2022

Railway Touring Company 'The Sherborne Christmas Carol' railtour, hauled by 44871 Stanier Black Five Class 5MT, from London Victoria to Sherborne, Dorset. Seen here passing through Templecombe around 1pm on Tuesday 6th December 2022.
This locomotive was one of the engines that hauled 'The Fifteen Guinea Special', the last main-line passenger train to be hauled by steam locomotive power by British Rail on 11 August 1968.
Plenty of locals turned out to watch the steam come through. Aided, no doubt, by the hot drinks and cake provided by the 'Friends of Templecombe Station'.
