I'm down here in Wickenburg, Arizona, where the winter sun does not dip too far down. It's the hours in the day that gets me. In the summer, my 700 ah batteries with 2,500 watts of panels is fully charged by 11 AM. Now, almost October, the batteries go to float around 1 PM. By January, it will usually go to float around 3 PM. All that depends on how many clouds we get. Lucky here in the desert, we may get no more than a few days per year of all-day clouds.

The sun doesn't dip too low here either, and the day's don't get all that much shorter. It is noticeable , just not extreme. With the extra panels I think I'll be okay. Now the dark days of winter can be a problem. I can go weeks without really ever seeing the sun. We'll see how it goes, but I usually do fine even then. Aloha! 🤙

Those trees are gonna get taller…you might need to get someone to trim the tops some if you don’t want to cut them down. Just a thought. Have fun stay safe .

I may do that, as it would change the winter sun a great deal, especially time wise! Aloha! 🤙

nice ! helps to over panel . he in NY we get short winter days and cloudy. solar alone just wont do hear. wend wend power. and that up so much in winter I have a lot of extra power that I dump into making hot water. my dump load is my solar hot water holding tank. have to trim trees and weeds hear as well. some times I wash my panels . get quite dirty from rain hear. that smoke from Canada wildfires had a lot to do with that. much better now. had some days the smoke dropped my solar output.

Aloha! I'm doing pretty good with the over paneling on two systems. Thinking of adding another string on the Chins bank. Have not run a generator in like a year!? Hoping I don't all winter too! Thats the goal anyway. I need to wash my panels up a bit too. Mahalo for always sharing what you got going on...it helps so much! 🌴🤙

Yeah over paneling and /or having multiple arrays in different directions does seem to flatten out my energy harvest here in SE Michigan. I have some moveable 100w panels installed on 2x6s and bricks and have found that facing them E to SE gets the day started early. My yard has shadowing from my primary array and the other homes so I found a sun slot between two buildings and using cameras I found the morning sweet spot to harvest about 200wh or so before 10am since my peaks are 11am to about 5pm this time of year. I will deploy 400 watt of bi-facials this winter when the snow falls to test those out too. Have a nice weekend and I may send you a photo of the solar salad to show you the crazy setup here.

I have some more panels to add to the arrays to make me generator free even throughout the winter. We can go a long time without seeing the sun directly...weeks sometimes! I will show you how it goes in those times too! Aloha! 🤙

I would like to be able to over panel but both my systems are 12 volt inverters, controllers, and batteries. Also both my setups are all parallel including panels and batteries. That said, I am limited on how many panels I can run on each system. Thanks for sharing.

It's for this time of year, and the next few months I have oversized the array. The goal always being not to use a generator...at all! Aloha! 🤙

I was wondering if you could test something and make a video on it. if you can set the Victron charge controller to go into absorption mode at 13.8volts and if I'm right it would only charge the battery of a Lifepo4 to 80% then go into absorption mode. I hear 20-80% is the best for lithium battery cycles.
