Perfume Maths: How Long Does It Take To Finish A Bottle Of Perfume? How Many Sprays In A Perfume?

- Hello and welcome to my channel! Thanks so much for watching, liking, commenting and subscribing, it means a lot!
I admit it, I'm a scientist and a geek!
In this video, I try to answer how long it take takes to use a bottle of perfume and how long it would take me to use all of my perfumes. I make a load of assumptions to make these calculations and it is meant to just be an eye opener on really how much perfume a lot of us (including me) own compared with how much we end up using...
This video makes you think about whether you might want to / need to declutter to maintain a diverse and novel perfume collection or whether you should just be a lot more generous in how much you spray your perfume! It also reinforces the need for great storage to ensure you can enjoy your perfumes in the long term!
Massive apologies for being way too close to the camera in this video!
Here's the equations for you to calculate for your own collection:
n = number of sprays per day that you use
v = volume of perfume you own (in ml)
days of perfume = v / 30 * 610 / n
years of perfume = v / 30 * 610 / n / 365.25

This video popped up and I already had an excel spread sheet of my perfumes so the math was relatively easy. Going with 10 sprays a day, I have over 12 years worth of perfumes! 😳😳
Wow, that's a lot but at least you know 😂 and spreadsheets rock 😉 thanks for watching ❤️
well.. i will have enough perfume until my last days on earth ! LOL! but this was really helpful.. especially with the samples.... :) when i think about it, a 30ml is a perfect size for someone who has more than 3 bottles XD i try to get smaller bottles like 30 or 15-25 if i could...
Yep me too, would love more affordable smaller sized bottles. I love the travel sprays that are 10ml. It took me a while to get around to filming this, I sometimes try to hide my inner geek but really it's undeniable. I also watch a lot of makeup project panners and that is a very strange concept for me to get my head around, but it's also kind of mesmerising to watch. I thought they all might appreciate this info anyway.
@@dr.claire.perfume i found this really fun and helpful really.. at least i have an idea or estimate that a 30ml is approx 600 sprays.... so i have an i dea more or less if i get a travel or what... :D
@@PaolaBianka yes even those tiny 1.5ml spray sample can last a week or more depending upon how much you spray. I am definitely someone who sprays lightly with most things, so I think my estimate was pretty accurate.
I watch this as I open my two new 3.4 oz bottles 😭😭
Don't worry you aren't alone 🙈 my collection has increased since I filmed this...🤣
How are you? Not seen you for a while!
I love the complete randomness of this video 😂😂. But it’s a scary thought to think how long it would take to use all my perfume... x
That's my mind unfortunately. Usually scared to share, but thought what the heck! I love perfume and hate the thought of it going off before I use it but I also just want to try so much more! It's a conundrum!
Thanks so much for watching 😘
Love this video...it's a first mathematical perfume analysis..🤗💕 I'm glad I'm an oversprayer...😆 keep your unique videos coming Claire..
Yes! Overspraying is definitely the way forward if you have a perfume collection! Better to use them and enjoy them! Thanks for watching!
Okay, I def needed this injection of reality😮 …I’m def not gonna waste my time attempting to use up bottles I no longer love, so I can feel good about what’s left in my collection & use that up. This has also prompted me to empty various online carts & perhaps instead just go with decants when I can from here on out!
Yes I quite often think about these stats. Doing this video did make me realise that I should just spray a lot more if I feel I need to because it does take ages to finish a bottle and it also made me realise that if I dislike something and I have even 30ml, I should be reselling it or giving it away... I agree with you that decants are probably enough for most fragrances. I love my little collection of samples, so much variety and so little space! ☺️
@@dr.claire.perfume yes, thank you! I went thru my collection last night & at first skim, set aside two frags I feel I need to decide if I wanna sell or thrift. (One of which I have on this morning to give it another chance!) Thanks for giving this ‘food for thought’ - a reality check I definitely appreciate! Altho I felt panicked a little when I first commented, after going thru my collection I’m glad to say I feel solidly happy in owning what I have - well, besides those two, but also glad it’s only two!😘👍
That's pretty good going! I definitely need to have a stock take! ☺️
Thanks for the video. I searched and you delivered. I plan to have a No Buy year. Thanks for the added incentive.
Good luck 👍 I've managed the last 6 weeks so I'm doing well. I want to reduce my collection of full bottles a little this year.
I was just thinking how long it would take me to use all of my bottles up and then this video shows up... It was a very good insight and I can see that I really don't need more bottles
Thanks! It was a question that just popped into my head one day too!
I really don't need more either but I really want to try a lot more and that is the problem! I have started to spray more times too since working this out, e.g. if something doesn't last very long and I am at home, I am more likely to respray. Thanks for watching and for your comment! I appreciate it! 💕
This is such a great idea for a video!!
Thanks! I was so worried people would think I'm weird! I'm feeling the CZcams love today though! ❤️ Did you also wonder about this question?
Thanks for watching! 😘
At the beginning of this year I started keeping track of how many times I use a perfume and how many sprays I apply. I was curious to see how much perfume I use in a season (I organized my perfume stash by season). Turns out, so far I used ~120 ml, most of it during summer, because in summer I use mostly citrus perfumes and they don't last and I need to reapply. But! I used 15 sprays/ml as reference because this is what I found on the internet. Anyway, I used 120 ml and purchased almost 500 ml during same period 😇🙈. I should definitely start using 20 sprays/ml in my formulas to try to balance things out 😂
😂 well, I'm sure the sprays per ml are variable between bottles but that's impressive. Filming this mad me realise how little fragrance I get through and made me spray a lot more!
I've been using 10+ per day and actually, during this summer, I did a lot of reapplying, so I'm sure I've used up quite a bit since my last empties video in May. I've got a 7 empties to talk about right now (I do empties videos about every 6-9 months or so) so hopefully I finish off a few more!
Really interesting to hear how much you used! Thanks for watching ❤️
Oh dear, I’m saving / bookmarking this video for permanent and future reference, haha. I’ve worked out the math on my smallish collection of 20+ full bottles, ~20 small bottles and ~30 travel sizes and I’m getting approx 20 years even with 10 sprays per day!I’ve already sold and gifted the ones that are not my style last year. I keep an inventory of my “fragrance wardrobe” in my phone and having checked every line, I realised that I love and have special memories with every single one of them. ❤ So I’m going to simply enjoy them, maybe spray more liberally especially when I’m at home and not going to the office…and one more thing that I really enjoy doing now: layering several scents and discovering some interesting and beautiful scent “cocktails”! Thank you so much for this very helpful and eye opening video, Claire.
Yes 😳 sobering isn't it?! Making this video had a huge impact on me too, I started spraying more liberally and I feel I actually enjoy my fragrances more actually know how little each wear uses of each of them. Layering is another exciting avenue to explore too! Thanks for watching ❤️
Woahhh! Interesting. Also your comments popping on the screen had me in stitches.
Glad you enjoyed! I love being able to add comments, I always feel I've forgotten to say something when I watch videos back. 🥰
I love this! TFS. I think I might have the same amount of bottles you have but I do more than 3 sprays/day. I now know I should become a generous sprayer and must declutter what I don't love. 😉
Glad it is useful! I am also going to be more generous, thanks for watching and for your lovely comment! 💕
I use about 200ml per year. I do much more than 3 sprays per day though, closer to 10, if it's strong, if it's weak i do 20 😅 But i never buy 100 mls except my signature. I store my perfumes in cupboards so they never go off (even indirect sunlight is bad, so is excessive shaking), i still use some 20 year old perfumes. But i think i use too little perfume. I have a friend who uses up to 200ml per month! Another friend uses 100ml per 3 years, I've never smelled her perfume in my life. I feel like if you spray too little you're wasting your money as nobody can smell your perfume even if they hug you!
That's amazing! 💜 You'd be through my stash in 8 years and your friend would be through it in less than a year! That is crazy! 🤣 I think you are right, if you want people to be able to smell your fragrance, there is no point in spraying only a little for most perfumes. I am spraying more and more these days but not when I am going to work unfortunately...
Which perfumes in your collection would you need 20 sprays for? Which are your weakest? Is there one that stands out as disappointing?
Thanks for watching and your fab comment! 😘
@@dr.claire.perfume when i count 10/20 sprays per day, i'm taking into account refreshing x2/x3 per day, so for example Kenzo world edp 5 sprays in the morning +2at noon +2in the afternoon, or 6 sprays x3 of cologne on an active summer day.
@@jonyu3597 aah ok! I totally get how it could be 20 if you have it handy! Love Kenzo World! Lots of people aren't keen on that one though. Another reason I love perfume, everyone likes different things!
@@dr.claire.perfume once me and my 100ml/3yrs friend were sitting with my 200ml/month friend, and she was complaining that during lockdown she doesnt go out much and a bottle of perfume lasts her a whole 3 months! I think me and my 100ml/3yrs friend both felt like misers at that point. The funny thing is, the 200ml/month girl doesn't smell too strong, but i can smell her and she smells pleasant. So that really got me thinking...
@@jonyu3597 interesting! Do you know what perfume she wears? Maybe she has dry skin? 🤔
I’m definitely an over sprayer and now my granddaughter is obsessed with picking my fragrance of the day and wearing it also LOL
Does she have a favourite bottle or does she like smelling them too? I am guessing it will be the brightest bottle that she loves! 💙

What great taste! Love it!
This is a sore area, time to face all my conscious team(Sub, in, un...). Thank you Claire.
🤣 yes I'm spraying 10-12 times now and not worrying about it at all 🤣
😂😂😂 thank you! I appreciate this! . I've been thinking about this too whenever i spray a perfume while looking at my collection. 🤣
LOL 😂 glad I'm not the only geek! 👌
I love the brain power that went into this video! It needs to go viral! It also hurts my head because I have several lifetime supplies (applying all of the same underlying assumptions you used to create your calculation). And there are shipments on the way. I better get to spraying everything in the house! Carpets, curtains, my car, you name it! 🤣🤣🤣
I'm sure with careful storage you can enjoy them all for a long long time! I think working this out encouraged me to wear more perfume which can't be a bad thing!
@@dr.claire.perfume they are carefully stored, thank goodness! 😄
the disclaimers in text while you spoke took me out 😆 nah this is endlessly fascinating!
Haha thank you! 😆
It’s time for me to stop buying perfume ,I easily use 10 sprays per day because I use at least 2 different fragrances (day and night ) !! I have 26 bottles most are 100 mil ( some of those I will be decluttering ) This is an absolutely brilliant idea
I just wanted to make people think. I don't think there's much of a message behind it because we all like perfume and the fear of not using it will not alter most people's purchasing habits, nor to an extent should it, but I certainly am beginning to agree that if you don't love something, you should pass it on and enjoy the scents that you love! I just really wonder how accurate the estimate is!
@@dr.claire.perfume I think it’s just such a neat concept !! I’m definitely a deep thinker lol
I also don’t want to own more than 25 fragrances
Totally get that! I love that you have a very curated smaller collection, I'm coming around to that idea more and more...
Oh wow how interesting! I would not even like to think how long it would take me to use up mine! Definitely food for thought 💭 great video 👍👍👌🏽
I think I need to ignore it now I've worked it out 😂 and maybe just spray a bit more and enjoy... there is no shortage!
Interesting video!I have less then 10 perfumes right now but I have more travel sizes.
That's very sensible! You will be able to enjoy every single drop! 😘 I used to be like that, then 2020 happened... 💸
@@dr.claire.perfume I was doing a subscription before I started collecting so I have a lot of trave sizes. After that I began to collect minis and so on. I like the minis but I wish they had spray bottles.
@@crystalmata7036 I know! I like minis too, you get to try lots of different scent and if you don't like it then it wasn't a lot of money or perfume. But those dabber bottles annoy me! And rollerballs too! They always go off before I get through them. Decanting is probably the way forward. Minis with sprayers, e.g. the 10ml sizes, are my ideal format 👌
A tip is keep the boxes to backups, keep them out of sunlight and try and avoid extreme heat/temperature fluctuations, and consider toilette’s instead of parfume so you have more opportunities and reason to reapply throughout the day, and softer perfumes over heavy ones so that reapplying won’t be hard on anyone’s nostrils nor give you a headache.
I basically have a beauty shop in my small apartment and this helps because I spray more of lighter perfume on than heavy long wear perfumes. I enjoy using them up and then buying them again.
Thank you for the video!
Some great tips there! Where is your shop? I keep all of my perfumes in a dark room but I am hoping to move them to a cupboard when I free up some space! 😂 Thanks so much for your advice! 😘
@@dr.claire.perfume my shop is my room. The linen closet is dedicated to nails and perfume stuff. Dresser top and walls for nails, and makeup. Night stand for candles, wall plugin refills, etc.
@@becky5937 aah perfect 👌
That’s actually a great tip. I also don’t like too heavy perfume that lasts the whole day. I want to be able to spray a lot and then reapply or wear another perfume. Unfortunately, most videos focus on those long-wearing beastmode frags…
I bought a lot of perfumes while working for the express reason to see me through retirement lol
I’m glad to know my bottles and samples will see me through to old age!
🤣 yes keep them out of light and in constant low temperature and I'm sure they will last... Mine will certainly be around for a while, although I think this video made me spray them all a lot more because I realised I'd never run out! Thanks for watching ❤️
Oh my I've been avoiding this math
You, me and everyone else 🤣
Ha! Funnily enough after our group chat yesterday I did all this maths on my own collection (was actually quite relieved that I think I "only" have enough to last about 10 years based on c.7 sprays per day!) and then I wondered if there were any videos on this topic and found yours! I love both perfume and maths too so this video is perfect for me, thank you!
Haha Maddie! I had no idea how to film when I made this 🙈 so close up LOL. Oh you are sensible Maddie, that is so good! You have such a diverse and beautiful collection too, something for me to aspire to! Thank you so much for watching 😘
I did the maths and with 5 sprays/day it will take me up to 25 years. How can I ever justify to buy another perfume?
Well, I've bought more but I now use more too. I guess sampling and reselling what you don't love is probably the way to go. Thanks for watching ☺️
I don't even want to think about it 😂. More than I can wear before I die for sure.
I know! I wear lot more perfume since making this, but I also own a lot more... 🤷♀️
Oh my gosh! Look like i will never ever finish my bottles knowing im still buying more! Im glad im only buying 30-50ml bottle, though i dont think i will still finish all of it. Interesting video ❤️
Thanks! Interesting but ultimately it doesn't matter if you don't use them. It's a bit sad to say that from an environmental point of view but eye opening for people who "save" fragrance just for special occasions as even if they have a small collection, it is likely to last years, even with daily use. For me, life is my special occasion!
@@dr.claire.perfume its true! Just when i started my collection, im kind of scared to spray them as if theyre gonna run out but after a year a realize its impossible, now i spray all the way even before going to bed 😁

Thank you! I was just curious and thought it would be more difficult to work out but then I found that video and realised that it would be easy! Plus I'm geeky and like working stuff out... Btw I tagged you in my most recent video if you want to do it! 😘
I don't wanna do the math but I spray at least 20 sprays a day and I have 30ish fragrances, most of em 30ml , so I think. I will still get good use out of them I feel
I think that is a very practical collection. Variety but really not a crazy amount 👍 definitely manageable! ❤️
I have may around 80 fragrace or less. Definitely Will not use it up all as some of them don't like it . The fastest that goes right now Zara Gardenia. Lovedthis topic!!✨☺️
Thanks! I checked to see if anyone had worked this out when I was curious and then thought maybe other people are wondering this too and I'm not weird... Probably they aren't! Yes I saw your gardenia bottle and was amazed at how quickly that had disappeared! You have lots of fragrances because you have a lot of male aimed ones too! It is a very interesting diverse collection!
Another thing, please can you tell me your name?! I realised that I don't know it!!! Or maybe you are anonymous like a superhero? 🤩
haha, what a great video! I actually use something like 10 sprays of perfume a day, but don't have a huge collection. Just a couple I rotate between. I think hearing this math makes it a bit less intimidating to buy more actually 😂😂
Aah cool! That's great! Glad it was useful! I now use a lot more perfume as a result of this, it definitely helped me to see that I wasn't going to run out any time soon and that cost per use is actually minimal so I should spray with extra enthusiasm! 😂 Thanks for watching and for your comment!
I have over 120 bottles (most of them 100ml) + samples + decants... I generally use 1 spray when I don't go to any event (I work from home) and when I go to events (probably once/week on average) I spray 4-6 sprays of my very strong ones up to 24-30 sprays of my very weak ones... I don't even want to do the math of that as I think my collection will outlive me :))
Well me too 🤣 my samples alone 🙈 I think making this video a very very very long time ago made me think I should spray much more! So now I'm similar to you! Thanks for watching 🥰
Thanks for sharing. Will watch the rest of your videos
No problem! x
I have learned to love 1-1.7oz bottles. This is exactly what I needed to hear, so I can enjoy what I already have. And stop being so influenced to buy more.... many that aren't even LOVES!
I was just thinking that I could possibly die before I use up all that I already have. Thank you for this!
Hi Nikki! Thanks for your comment, it's nice to hear! 😊
Yes, it's pretty shocking isn't it? I've definitely learnt to use perfume more liberally! I got into perfume in 2020 and bought quite a few. I have never been someone who bought much of any one thing before so I've had a lot of feelings of guilt about over consumption etc. I have decided to try to buy secondhand if possible and to try to sell on anything that I don't find myself reaching for, that way stuff doesn't sit unused in my collection. I've actually got through quite a few bottle since making this video, they weren't all full, but still, it's made me more aware of how long stuff takes to use. Thanks again 💕
@@dr.claire.perfume I love this perspective! I too have begun to finally empty some bottles and it has become sort of a goal for me. Almost like a reward system. I feel accomplished when I have sprayed a bottle bone dry 🤣.
I recognized also that my innocent love for fragrance I had years ago, before I lost the 5 fragrances I owned in Hurricane Katrina, has overtime become somewhat anxiety inducing 😔. I have allowed an innocent love to be turned into a complicated competition. But I don't know who I'm competing with lol. I had to take a step back and realize that I was being influenced by people I don't EVEN KNOW! It's silly when I think about it. But I thank God for correction and the strength He gives me to overcome this habit. Thank you for sharing!
@@Dearest_Kenyetta that's fab Nikki. I'm sorry to hear you were affected by Katrina. I can't imagine how hard that was. I have really tried hard to stay away from using language such as "you need" or "wishlist" or "best" because I think scent is a very personal experience and I also do not aim to sell people things. I am a scientist so what interests me is scent memory side of perfume and also the science of perfume notes which I try to read and learn about. I of course do the cool kooky tags too though LOL 😂. I have also been influenced to buy a few things and to be honest, I think I never would have blind bought a perfume, ever, without the mad influence of CZcams.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday 😊 x
@@dr.claire.perfume This is good and so true! You do the same.
What a fun and interesting video! I think it'll definitely take my over 50 years to finish my collection 😂😂😂 I'll be elderly, but at least I'll smell amazing!
We all will! 🤣 Thanks for watching ❤️
Interesting video. I would have never asked this question but now you have me thinking. I am a very heavy sprayer. I actually think I can finish a bottle in one month they way I spray.
I think I am light, but I also think I spray a lot more than 3 on average so 30 years is a vast overestimate in how long it will take to use it all up! I was curious to see whether other people had thought about this too!
I haven't see you before, I will check out your channel 😘
Thank you ❤exactly what I’m trying to find out. 😂
Gosh this an old video 😂 happy it was useful! 🥰
The stupid thing is…I may have a supply for 10 (or more.. I havent actually calculated it) years, but I do not want to wear them for ten years, I want to experience new ones every year 😁
Yes I can get a bit over things too, maybe reselling and smaller bottles or decant might be the answer for me. 😊
Answers to questions I was asking myself. Thanks! I should stop buying perfumes. That’s it.
I was curious! Thanks for watching ❤️
1600ml? What is it now Claire? 😉 100barrels?
🤓🤓🤓🤓 I just love this video. Mine would only last probably 6 months? I will have to work this out but I ain't gonna be able to work out the volume 😂
🤣 you know you could supply France for at least a month and not run short.
Maybe all my grand daughters till 99 years old. Ooooh, don't want to think about it !
I know! I spray so much more and tend to buy smaller bottles now because I know I will never ever run out! Thanks for watching 🥰
Really great idea! I definitely have more than enough to last me a life time 🤭
Hopefully it is useful for someone. I love perfume and maths so this ticks my boxes! 😂 My dad would give me stuff to work out when I was little, things like how much fertiliser do I need if I have this many acres and I put it on at this rate and apply it this many times (he's a farmer). I loved it!
There's an easier formula that can be used by ANYONE, regardless of your collection size:
610 / 30 * 1597.5 / 3 = 10,809.75 sprays.
The most important key is to calculate the number of sprays per mL:
1. find out how many sprays per mL: from the video that claire referenced, 610sprays / 30mL = 20.3 sprays/mL
2. sum the volume of your collection in mL; in claire's case, it's 1597.5mL (not sure where that .5mL came from, but oh well)
3. now that we have the amount of juice in our collection (1597.5 mL), and the number of sprays per mL (20.3 sprays), just multiply the two: 1597.5 mL * 20.3 sprays = 32,429 total number of sprays to get through your entire collection.
4. take the total number of sprays (32,429) and divide it by the number of sprays you apply per day (in her case, 3 sprays per day): 32,429 mL / 3 sprays= 10,809.75 days (or 29 years)
EXAMPLE:
if your fragrance collection is 450mL, then:
450mL * 20.3 sprays / 3 sprays per day = 3,045 days to get through your collection (or 101 months, or 8.3 years)
ANOTHER EXAMPLE:
my collection is unfortunately over 2200mL, but I spray at least 5 times / day because my skin absorbs fragrance like crazy:
2200 * 20.3 / 5 = 8,932 days, or around 24 years.
Don't know why I spent so much time writing this...
Haha! You did spend a lot of time writing that indeed! Loved it ❤️
I'm spraying much more now, this video made me think I should live in my own scent bubble on a permanent basis. 🤣
@@dr.claire.perfume yeah I now use some fragrances as room spray now lol I simply have too much!
I have one that is leaking... I am now massively overspraying it to try to use it up before it goes bad...
Thanks for this, it turned out it would take 10+ years to use up my relatively "small" perfume collection.... Time for me to go on a no-buy

No, that sounds perfect! I wish my collection were a little smaller but I do like variety, so smaller sizes would be great! Thanks for watching!
@@dr.claire.perfume you're welcome!
Fascinating stuff. I find when I like something there is no logic - I probably already have enough perfume to last me 12 years but I can't see that stopping me. The one thing that keeps me in check is the fact that I have 5 kids to pay uni for😫. Much as I may like expensive perfumes that's a line I can't cross. But once they are all through uni - I'll be ready to play 😂. Question - How come you have multiples of the same bottle?
Because one was nearly finished, another one I bought as a lot of two, another I got a mini with my purchase, lots of reasons...
Yes money is what ultimately keeps everyone in check with their purchasing habits!
Really interesting video! Informative. Now that you worked it out I realize I have enough to last me a lifetime 😁
Yep, I think most people have! Perfume sizes are designed at the moment for people who have a signature scent and that's not the case for a lot of people.
We're a consumer society, that's a fact. On the other hand, I buy perfumes not because I want to use them up, rather these are bottled memories or experience. It's my hobby. My pleasure. I have a few bottles with just a drop left - I seldom go to them to just sniff and refresh some memories.
Yes, that's how I look at it, a hobby. I like to cycle through the ones I don't truly love but the ones that mean something, I hold onto. I did have one for bad though so I tend to get as much enjoyment as possible from them and use them without worrying that I'll finish them. Thanks for watching ❤️
At 10 sprays per day!! 13 years!!! 😳 what have I done. 🤦🏽♀️
🤣 I have had similar thoughts
New subie here x I love your interesting videos 😍 I use about 10 or more sprays my bottles are all 100ml I love big bottles cod you get more for your money sometimes they are cheaper than the 50 ml 😂
Oh wow! Thank you so much! That means a lot! I am still learning what people like and sometimes I get it wrong, but I try!
You are definitely a bigger sprayer. Doing this video has made me use more sprays for sure. I agree, if you like a fragrance, 100ml is the way to go, especially at 10 sprays a time. I remember I bought a 90ml Aura and that was cheaper by a few £s than the 50ml 🙃 which is crazy.
I have 84 perfumes...i'd better start overspraying :D also a third was bought out of boredom during the pandemic and i am not happy with this number and will probably declutter soon.
Yes that's how I'm feeling at the moment! I reapply when I come home from work. I also have a few more that I wouldn't miss and that could be decluttered. I am coming to the conclusion that I need to be more fussy when purchasing. 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume Don't blame yourself especially in these times when there is so few things that can make us happy. We can always sell or swap them. Recently i also approached my perfume as an analyst...i made a spreadsheet with 3 rows - 1.perfumes i want wear feb-march.
2.perfumes i won't be able to wear in other months (not suitable for warmer weather)
3. 'finish the bottle' perfumes. Then listed perfumes in each column and whenever a match was found- i took those out on my tray and put the rest back in the drawer to be evaluated the same way in April.
I really hope this helps me finish some bottles and wear some forgotten ones more often :D
@@_Palmi ooh that's a fab idea! I've got a bit of a project pan going with a few of them, usually the ones I wear to work. Dividing them into months and specifically rewearing and retesting is a great strategy! 👍
Love this 😂
Thanks, I let out my inner geek. It's a question lots of people have I think 😂
This is such an interesting idea!
I estimate I currently have a minimum of 6 years based on 4 sprays a day, assuming I wear perfume every day of the year!
Thanks for doing this video. It was fun to find out! 😊
xxx
I think I wildly underestimated my spraying! Thanks. Wondered whether I was just being too geeky, but maybe not?!
@@dr.claire.perfume I think it's interesting to get some data sometimes. We often buy products without having a real concept of how long it will take to actually use them up. And besides, I love geeky! 👍
@@CatchUpWithKay yes! I think that is especially true of things like makeup. I had no concept of how long it takes me to use up things like blush and highlighter. It is very eye opening when you realise that you don't need 3 backup blushes because that's 5 years worth + right there...
Before 2020 I had around 5 perfumes and now I have so many, my perfume will live longer than me!
Yes that's exactly what happened to me 😂 I think a lot of people got into perfumes in 2020. I think people enjoyed the thrill of blind buying too.
@@dr.claire.perfume I definitely did. I was so bored I had to get into something haha .
Same!! 😂😅
3 sprays per day? Such restraint. I wish I knew how. I am excessive in all areas. I’d need to re jig the calculation. I’ll go away and do it for fun. I most likely will have emptied a bottle by the time I return.
That and being older I suspect my olfactory function is declining . That’s my explanation and I’m sticking to it 😏.
😂 Yes, I think I vastly under estimated here 🤦♀️ I would use more like 5... I am nearing 40 now so I'm sure my smell receptors are not as sharp as they used to be either!
😂, this vid I've done this math so many times! Still i find the numbers lie 🤣 cause it depends on what perfume,if it travels with me at that day, weather, mood, change of clothes, shower, and so many things. So...with this i told myself it's ok to buy more 🤣🤣😎 love this vid!
Thank you! Haha! 🤣🤣🤣 Yes it's definitely an estimation only, certainly very dependent on a lot of factors, and you can always buy more for sure 🤣🤣🤣
@@dr.claire.perfume 🤣😍
Omg...this is so cool🤣🤣🤣
❤️ hello my fellow geek 👋
@@dr.claire.perfume According to my calculations I will be 58 years old... i have less bottles and I did an average estimate of 4 sprays per day🤣....guiltrippin over here🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@valhasviews that's really not so bad! I'm going to spray more!!! 😘
@@dr.claire.perfume But it means I have to stop buying...I need prayers with that though🤭
@@valhasviews totally agree, I've already got more since filming this. I feel so bad saying that! I wish I could buy smaller bottles, I want variety!
You gained a new sub :)
Thank you Devesh! 😊
I definitely am interested in this and will I use it all up before I die ?? If I live until I am 80 LOL
Awwh hopefully you will enjoy many new fragrances! I, on the other hand, need to spray to oblivion! You seem to power through yours!
540000 apparently? So 1500yrs? That can't be right
🤣
Probably is...
You are the person maths questions are about
Thank you for watching!
Im actually glad im an oversprayer after seeing this
I approx spray between 10 and 25 depending if its strong or not lol xx
I'm spray much more now for sure... After working this out I am spraying 10 sprays for most perfumes.
I do about 10 sprays and reapply late afternoon, so can go through 30 mls a month 😜🥰
Yes, I think I am similar now! I have turned into an oversprayer, it's the magical world of CZcams and my ever-expanding perfume collection 😂 I have an empties video coming soon because of it 😂
@@dr.claire.perfume it's much more fun that way, lol!
A great way to stop buying new perfumes. 😮
🤣 I've just decided to ignore this I think. I did use a lot up this year though so there was some room for some new ones. 😉
It'll be 17 years for me to finish up my 108 bottles:) but unlike you, I overspray (~15 sprays a day)❤
Wow 😧 I think I'm more like 10-15 now 🤣
@dr.claire.perfume have you got lesser bottles or have you joined #teamoversprayers?
Oh, you meant 10-15 sprays! Haha, that's great 👍
Yes sorry! 🤣 That wasn't clear at all!
Without doing the math, I will be about 170 years old
🤣
What about when the perfume evaporates?
Yes for sure the perfume will evaporate over time, even from a well sealed bottle, although vintage perfumes show that evaporation, even over 50 years can be minimal from a well sealed bottle. The calculation here is based on the volumes and assumes no evaporation because that will vary depending upon the temperature, humidity, how the perfumes are stored, the quality of the perfume seals, the alcohol content of the perfume, whether the perfumes have lids, liquid surface area etc. It would be impossible to account for that factor accurately I think. Thanks for watching and your insightful comment! 🥰
I like to use my fragrances according to my mood. Will take a long time to use up some! 😁❤
Yes! I have bought so many this year! This video seems a long time ago...
And for your body mist....😂😂🤭
🤣
Wait wait let me get a pen...
Omg Jon 🤣 don't watch this!!! I'm so embarrassed 😳
@@dr.claire.perfume oh I enjoyed this one
🙈
I’m so afraid my perfume will go bad before I use it all. I have around 20 3.4 oz bottles and the idea of wasting all that money makes me cringe endlessly. 😬😖
Yes, it is worrying! And I totally understand that feeling of having potentially wasted money. I used to watch people's collection videos and think oh what a waste, I totally get it! I think if they are stored in the dark and kept at constant cool temperature perfumes will last a decent amount of time though. I guess you need to make sure you enjoy them. I have been chugging through some of my older bottles and have used up 14 since November (video coming soon hopefully 🙂). I do want to do a bit of a declutter too though because I feel there are a few fragrances that I am just not reaching for regularly. Thanks for watching 😘
@@dr.claire.perfume I appreciate the response. I love the look of my fragrances so I store them, enclosed in a glass case in the coolest, darkest room in my house aka my bedroom, lol. Backups are kept in original boxes in the closet or bottom dresser drawer. I’ll let you know if they make it the entire 10 yrs it will take to wear them all. 😂
