Hi Y'all !
Welcome to my brand new CZcams channel! This is the VERY first video for my channel. I’m so excited to become a new content creator for the diamond painting community! In this WIP ‘n Chat style video, I’ll be sharing with you the type of content you can expect to see on my channel, such as diamond painting unboxings, post review, tutorials and, of course, WIP ‘n Chats. In addition, I’ll telling you a little bit about me and you’ll get a preview of the specific videos I will be posting in the upcoming weeks.

Until just a couple of years ago, I was a volunteer scuba diver at the Newport Aquarium and for 8 years straight, I drove the 1 1/2 hour drive up I-71 to your area every couple of weeks to dive there. Congratulations on your new channel. Like others have said, you are a natural. You sound like you've been doing this for a while already. Your job is very high tech. I'm quite computer illiterate, but have enough to find you! Looking forward to all you have to share. Glad you are going to do tutorials for those who are new. I have been diamond painting for a year 1/2 now. I love the idea of the monthly spotlight, that will be interesting for some non-channel people like myself to show themselves..
Thanks for the nice comments. But, don't let me fool you too much on how "natural" I come across because I've definitely learned how to "edit out" some of my awkward moments in my videos. But, I am hoping with time and more videos under my belt that I will get better at it. Thanks for the feedback on the monthly spotlight concept. I appreciate that! Sounds like maybe you'll be up to volunteering for that when I kick that off on my channel. I hope so! Gotta ask.... How did you come up with the name "Elephants and Diamond Drills". That's cute..... Do you collect elephant things maybe?
Yes, I love Elephants. I pretty much just love animals. And yes, i have decorated my bathroom in Elephant theme. As for the name, I don't know... I think I just liked the sound if it. It's hard to come up with a meaningful and interesting name. As for spot lighting myself - it would be fun, but I don't have a camera to film, nor do I know how to edit or make myself fit for others to view.
@@llijable I love the name. Very interesting. I'm an avid scuba diver... And, I almost named my channel Blue Reef Diamond Painting because of that... So, I get trying to combine your loves together. Makes sense to me! The monthly spotlight would actually be an interactive video, no editing on your part. We would just connect on computers via a Zoom meeting, which is free online software. And, I would record and edit the video from my computer. So, all that would be required on your end is something like the built in camera on a laptop. Nothing fancy.... Thanks for replying!

Thank you so much for the nice comments. I appreciate it a lot! As I've told others, editing helps get out the fumbles some, so I sound more comfortable with it than I actually was at the time. But, thanks for the vote of confidence. I have presented a lot in front of large audiences before. But, I've never done videos before. So, this is something new and with new things comes new learnings. So, hopefully, I'll get better over time and not have to spend an hour editing out my fumbles in the near future! 🙃Thanks for watching my channel!

Great first video!! I've been wanting to start a DP channel.. but am not a very good public speaker.. so will just enjoy your new videos! I like unboxing videos and LOVE post reviews.. I enjoy hearing about what you liked and what you struggled with when doing a kit.. it helps me know what to expect (if I already own the kit) or it helps me make up my mind whether or not that kit is really for me. I love the idea of a subscriber spotlight.. it's fun to get to know people through their comments, but even better when we can put a face to the name! I just bought an HAED DP.. I've seen a few that do it free hand some how based on a cross stitch pattern.. which looks interesting.. but not sure I'm smart enough or have enough patience to do.. Looking forward to many more great videos!
Hi Julie! Thanks for your great comments! I've had to get in front of large audiences before so I have "some" experience at it. But, I'm finding that I get nervous even recording the videos with diamond painting. I guess it's because I'm talking about something different that I don't normally talk about "out loud" to other people. Just like anything though, I think it just takes time to build up your confidence that you "can do it". So, if you want to do a channel, you SHOULD DEFINITELY do it! I think the way to make anything you do that is a bit nerve racking more comfortable is just to practice it. Right now, I am writing down notes for what I want to say and practicing it a couple of times out loud before I record so that it becomes more comfortable to do. And, you can always edit out anything you don't want to be in your video, of course! So, don't let the fact that you don't feel comfortable with it now stop you from trying. I have one of those phrase art pieces in my kitchen that says "If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough". And, I kind of live by that. Anything you REALLY want and care about in life will make you a bit nervous to do, otherwise, it probably wouldn't be a "dream", right? So, if you want it, Julie, go for it! Also, please be sure to stick around for the HAED series. I definitely have some ideas for how to make a cross stitch conversion easier to do that I'm really excited about sharing. I think I've come up with a way to really make them easier to do and more enjoyable. You'll have to watch my DAC mystery box unboxing too. I mentioned your unboxing of the mystery box in that video several times as well. I got your EXACT same mystery box. It was QUITE dark, wasn't it?. I would have actually preferred the one Diamonds and Washi got the most and the one that Emerald's and Fairy Lights got over the box you and I got. That "Deadly Sweet" one looked neat.... But, like you, it was not really one I wanted to have in my collection either... 🙃 But, the mystery box was very fun and I really like several of the paintings. So, I was still happy with my purchase. I will probably trade off "Deadly Sweet" and "Customized Bookshelf" for something I will like better. So, it's definitely still a win-win! I have a "creator" question for you, if you don't mind.... Curious... I noticed a while ago that the quality of the video is showing as 360p right now, which is REALLY low video quality. I published it as 1080p. CZcams Studio shows the video as "HD Processing" since early this morning.... Do you ever find that you get long delays in getting the quality up to the level you published it as? ~Hugs from Indiana!
@@DiamondPaintingBetweentheLines Hi Tammy - anytime and about the 'Processing' part - sometimes that happens after I have uploaded a longer video (around the 1hr mark)...but in the end it all works out. Hopefully by now it will have finished? Big hug for you

What a great beginning! I loved your video, and subscribed. I use to be a cross stitcher but age and arthritis have ended that for me, until I found Diamond painting. I can’t wait to see your video on conversion! I am new to this craft but love it. Maybe you could do a video on how to get drills unstuck from ea other. It might seem trivial to some but it’s a frustration for me 😊. I will eagerly await your next video!
Hi Mary! Thanks for subscribing. I appreciate that. Yes, drills being stuck together is frustrating! And, I am sure I will cover how to get drills unstuck in one of future videos. But, for quick reference for you, here is what I do... A lot of DP'ers buy a pill crusher and seem to have a lot of success with that. But, I don't have a pill crusher... I personally found just putting the drills into a drill container with a small piece of a Bounce dryer sheet and a nickel works for me. I shake it up and down and the nickel breaks the drills apart. Now, if the drills are REALLY stuck together, you might not be able to get them apart that way. Every now and then, you will get a few drills like that. But, generally the problem is related to static and the dryer sheet and nickel trick will work. Another thought on that just in case this is how your drills are getting stuck together... NEVER, EVER, EVER put drills back in with other drills you pulled off the canvas already. And, don't put drills back in your drill tray either after pulling them off the canvas. If that's how you're getting stuck drills, it's the adhesive left on them from pulling them off the canvas. Hope that helps! Take Care! 💕

I am very excited to watch your heaven and earth design series. I am very new to the diamond painting world, having just started in August of this year. But I have become obsessed and have been contemplating doing a small HAED Project. The only thing keeping me from doing it right now besides the cost (I am in a current NO BUY phase) is the fact that I have to do counting. I was never able to Crosstitch due to the counting aspect. I just don’t find it fun. The other thing I’m interested in seeing is what in the world you can do with all that washi tape. I’ll admit I never heard of washi tape until I started diamond painting. So I’m interested to find out what you plan to do with over 200 rolls😂
You are the EXACT type of person that I hope watches my HAED series based on your comments. I think I can help in ALL areas you mentioned about HAED. So, stay tuned for that upcoming series. I got really carried away with the washi purchases. I have to admit that. I am not normally a "collector of things" at all.... But, I find myself falling into it a bit with diamond painting. So, I'm giving myself some grace that it's just a small aspect of my life, so it's contained. I won't be a complete hoarder about it, I promise. I have some thoughts for some of the washi that will ultimately bring it down to a more manageable stash size. I could NEVER use up 200 rolls of washi, I know!

Thanks, Susan! I love that tray too from ButterflyResinGems off Etsy. It's quickly become my favorite tray to use over the last few months. I like to do square drill diamond paintings a lot and having a tray that you can see the light from your light pad through, backlighting the diamonds, is really helpful when trying to quality check your drills for tabs. Hey Crafty Chefdiamond! Sounds like you are braver than me actually... I haven't done a really large "freestyle" canvas yet. I have a way to help really lay out the entire design of one though using a simple software program I found that really helps you figure it all out before putting any diamonds down. I came up with that solution one day when I was trying to "freestyle" a pretty big change on an existing design and I kept placing drills down and taking them back off because it wasn't laying out the way I wanted. I got frustrated and thought, there HAS to be a better way than this. And, I think I found it! So, stay tuned to my channel for that video in the future. And, wow! That is an investment! I will keep you in mind when I put together that video. I am very curious what type of design you are freestyling. If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to hear more about it. Hi, Tammy. Welcome to the CZcams world. I’ve been on CZcams for almost 5 years now and still can’t believe it’s been that long. (Although I’ve been away from the channel for a bit due to surgery on my right eye for a bad detached and torn retina.) I do both adult coloring and diamond painting on my channel, hence the name of my channel.
I also love watching Lisette. She is just so nice. I also love watching Katie, Lyndsey, Shay, Butter, Mrs. Coffee, and so many others as well as the CZcamsrs in the coloring world - so much to keep track of. LOL. I’m so excited to watch your upcoming videos, especially the HAED series. I have a couple of HAEDs but have only started one and even that one just keeps getting put to the side. So I can’t wait to see how you do yours. I sure hope you have found a way to get the symbols on the canvas. I know Doni had attempted this in the past but it was so cumbersome that I never pursued it. I, too, am from the IT world, being a computer programmer. So I know what it’s like to have a program not work and it could possibly all be due to one letter. Talk about frustrating at times but on what a sense of accomplishment once you figure it out. LOL. I’m definitely subscribing and really look forward to your future videos.
Thanks so much, Lisa! Oh... Sorry to hear about your eye issues. Ouch! Hope you're on the mend now. I LOVE the name of your channel! Lisette is such a good hearted person and great personality for this community. And, once she makes up her mind on something, she sticks to it! I think we can all need to model after her a bit in this craft, it seems! I so admire her determination to get ENTIRELY through her stash. I have a feeling, I am going to be re-watching her detox videos again at some point and taking some SERIOUS notes for my own detox after starting this channel! I'm WAY more tempted to buy things "for the channel" now, as my excuse! But, I'm giving myself a little latitude with it right now until probably the end of the year. Yes, there are SO many great creators out there. I wish I could watch them all! I actually contacted Doni about her HAED project because I wanted to know if she ever completed it. She said the paper came up off the canvas. So, that would be a disaster in the making, for sure! I quickly decided after talking to her that I would not attempt involving paper with a HAED. It's just such an fragile material. You'll just have to watch the series and see how I am doing it, Lisa 😄 I've come up with a way that I think is probably just about as easy as it gets without buying a Crown Jewel Canvas. I will be SOOOO excited to see the feedback from everyone that has attempted a HAED conversion to see if anyone has any ideas how to improve on my process even further. As I said in my video, I've done 3 of them now and I have improved my process with each one. I'm hoping that maybe my new process will help "save" some abandoned HAED projects that people have attempted. It's such a large investment to have it go to waste! Such a shame! And, the artwork is SOOO amazing on the HAED site. I would love to see it more accessible to diamond painters. The Crown Jewel Canvases are a great start, but they've only created them for about 5% of all the designs available on the site. Sounds like you are my IT soul sister! I can't tell you how many times I have searched for a missing closing parenthesis. Uggghhhh! When I was a kid, I got bored with my puzzles so I started mixing them together to make it more a challenge. IT is like that for me... It's like playing with puzzles. The sense of accomplishment can be VERY rewarding, especially when you have developed something that saves a company a lot of money and it's measurable. Or, you were able to help the user community by making their jobs way easier with something you've developed. It can be very satisfying. Thanks for your great comments, Lisa! Have a great day! We'll have to swap IT related things around diamond painting. Being good already at using programs like Excel and working with images really helps when doing HAED projects. Welcome to my channel, Bonnie! Thank you so much for the nice comments. As I said in the video, I am DEFINITELY nervous when recording my videos for some reason. But, the one great thing about recording videos I have found now is I can edit something out when it doesn't come out the way I wanted the first time... 😄 To prove that, be sure to watch my second video and you will see that I put a few bloopers at the very end of the video for fun... I don't mention it in the video at all... But, they are at the very last minute or so of the video. I hope to get to where I don't need to edit anything out... But, I'm pretty clumsy talking "out loud" to myself right now. Thanks for watching! 💕
Ooohhh I would love to be on your subscriber spotlight live! I have been "thinking" about starting my own channel BUT I want to come up with a good name for my channel first, and second i wouldnt know where to begin with editing videos or posting or anything because i have never done that before haha, and i know some people have certain things that draw people onto their channels so i need to find that one thing that makes ME different from everyone else you know, and I do not have the funds available to do stuff that I would love to do on my channel.. I think im just scared to start something new, its different and i need that push and know how to show me what to do.
Hey Amber! Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you like the subscriber spotlight idea... When I launch that segment on my channel I will do a random draw of everyone that showed interest in it. So, stay tuned for that. I "thought" about my channel for 9 months before launching it. So, I get all that you are saying... Don't make coming up with a name that hard though... You could go as simple as "Crafting with Amber" and everyone would remember your name just fine. It is a lot of work to set up and do the videos. But, it's a lot of fun to get all the interaction with subscribers too. So, it's worth it, in the end. Have a great rest of your week! 😃
