CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jack (Kurt Russell) uses quick reflexes to kill Lo Pan (James Hong) and Thunder (Carter Wong) blows his top.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Playing in a manner that can be conservatively described as larger than life, Kurt Russell plays a macho truck driver who agrees to go to the San Francisco airport and pick up his friend's (Dennis Dun) fiancee (Suzee Pai, freshly arrived from China. Suddenly, a gang of Chinatown toughs kidnap the girl right before Russell's eyes. After a wild chase sequence, Russell discovers that the girl has been abducted by a genuine, bonafide sorceror (James Hong), the ghost of a 3000 year old warlord. And that's just for starters.

Interesting fact. They were originally going to have the character of thunder lose in a fist fight. But the actor stunned them at 1:54 when he improvised the entire next scene.
what insane talent!

One of John Carpenter's best films. For me its a classic of the genre it has the lot action, comedy, fx,kung fu,story and its all executed very well by carpenter.
Slapstick also

My dad was and still is a avid truck driver for over 30 years now. Back in the early 2000s when I was a kid, I watched this movie all the time. I remeber my dad had this same knife from the film.

It seems a lot of people are not understanding why Thunder died. He killed himselfe because he was ashemed of not being able to serve his master and basically failed his task, letting him die. It was shown previously in the movie that he was able to enlfate his body. He just enlfated it enough to explode as a way to suicide. He didn't get so angry that he exploded, he was conscious of what he was doing.
I thought it was a mistake.
Also the explosion pretty much caused the entire building to start collapsing, so it was also essentially a case of “We’ve lost but we’re taking you down with us.”
I admit, it took me forever to realize that. I mean, when I was a kid and I watched this, I used to think that he was originally going to inflate himself and go berserk and it just backfired, hence his screaming.
But yeah, I agree with what you said.
Finalmente entendi a cena.
Thank you

Everyone's laughing at how Thunder went through spontaneous combustion, while i'm just laughing at how Gracie is wiping the lipstick off Jack Burton's face before he goes off to battle. It's the second most hilarious scene behind Jack shooting at the ceiling and pieces of it falling down and knocking himself unconscious.
Oh there are way more than 3 really funny scenes in this movie. Jack spending 2 minutes getting that body off of him is right up there, along with Thunder asking who the hell Jack Burton is...
It was a suicide. He stabs himself in honour! That's why he takes out his sword, and you see him turn it inwards before he pops.
@@kinghailz786he didn't stab himself. He dropped the sword
@@warriorsorb1111 so why would he stand there and accept defeat? Why would he take out his sword? Listen carefully and you can see it... Even the guys watching him know what he's about to do

Same here! I was here pretty much the whole decade born March of 1980! I miss it!
Different time indeed
I was in the 80's as well, but I caught the late 80's (I was born when this film came out), but yeah it definitely was a better, more simple, innocent time, it did have it's bullshit (what era doesn't), but it was nothing like today.
I love how this is the one time Jack is actually useful and no one other than Gracie was around to see it.
he also kills lo pan but pretty much
I was worried i was the only one who thought he was useless the whole lol
Jack is always useful. He has good luck and reflexes. He just has equally bad luck and needs a hand sometimes.

Obviously didn't watch the movie. This was after he was made mortal again
COOL. STUF
Team Charmin it was anticlimactic the way he died by a knife and not the tec 9 that was used all the way until the ending sequence.
It's because he became mortal, and susceptible to human death.
So cause that guy was killed it caused the other dude too blow up??

Besides the reflexes, I always wondered if it was drinking that happy juice that gave Jack the ability to time that counter knife throw right and kill Lo Pan?
+lastdragon55 could be part of it, but they set this up from the beginning when he catches the bottle his friend tries to hit him with.
+insomniastic you're right. I figure it's a combination of both since Lo Pan is a powerful wizard and it would take more than regular reflexes to take him down. I definitely think the juice gave Wang the ability to beat Rain in their sword fight.
Naw. I don't think there was anything in the juice. I think it was just regular juice. He wanted them to believe they had some sort of aid. But the truth at least for is all that did was give them the confidence they needed to win. Wang could already cut a bottle in half. He was already in touch with his inner badass. Jack was just being jack. That's what I choose to believe.
lastdragon55 I thought it was obvious when I first watch this and the hundred times after that even all the other good guys doing incredible things after that juice toast
Did he really try to hit him with the bottle? He looked confused that it didn't slice in half, and later in the movie realized why it wouldn't slice.
