"Even more imaginative than the original" (The Washington Post), this sequel takes the three musketeers, Babe, Ferdy and Mrs. Hoggett, on a crusade into the midst of a large city where despite incredible obstacles, they're able to turn enemies into friends, raise enough money to save the farm and combine the two worlds into one. Once again, it's Babe's kind and steady heart that achieves miracles.

Can we just take a bit to appreciate how much of a wholesome character Esme truly is? She looks exactly like the kind of woman who makes the best homemade meals and who gives the best hugs. She's an amazing wife who took care of her husband after he got injured, did all the work on their farm by herself, and went on a long trip to keep a roof over their heads. Plus, she's very motherly to both Babe and the Landlady. And, in my opinion, she's a cutie! She's honestly the best wife anyone could hope for.
She's also a great example of an unlikely hero! She's just a simple, naive and not very bright country bumpkin who never ventured far from her sheep farm, but she still fought tooth and nail against this new, hostile world. I mean, just in this scene, she goes through total hell; dragged around, battered, humiliated and literally blown up like a balloon while those snobbish people stare at her like she's a freak show attraction. But she never gives up until she rescues the ones she cares about!
The comedy scenes with her are also genuinely hilarious and even surprising; I certainly didn't expect to see her bungee-jumping around the ballroom and the punchline of her clown costume tearing itself apart and her "backside" inflating like something out of Willie Wonka after that little tag got pulled off, lmao.
Plus, just the whole idea of having this adorable old lady treated involved in scenes like getting chased around while trying to save her pet pig, doing some pretty impressive acrobatics and THEN getting accidentally transformed into a huge rubber ball by a random guy who got his hands in the wrong place is hilarious!
Using this type of cartoonish, Looney Tunes-like "abuse" for a character that looks just like a classic grandma is definitely NOT what I expected! It's just the sort of "chaotic weird" stuff that I always loved to see in older films.
I also really like the subtle details in this scene's humour, like how, against all odds, the champagne glass tower ISN'T destroyed, how it's implied that the guy who pulled the tag off Esme's clown pants had to get his hands in her "rear" to do it considering the tag was attached to the back of her pants, and Esme's hilarious facial expressions that make it clear that she had no idea she was wearing an inflatable rubber suit until it was revealed to her in the worst possible way.
And I absolutely love how the strange and surreal comedy of her scenes don't stop her from shining as the film's true hero! It's very rare to see a woman in slapstick scenes, but even more rare to see a film portraying a woman as being both the unlucky, "silly" comic relief and the protective hero, all while never feeling out of character in either moment.
Hats off to whoever wrote this character and to Magda Szubanski for her flawless portrayal. It's such an unexpected and creative direction for a "traditional housewife" role. Esme is just incredibly underrated, and unironically one of my favourite female protagonists ever.
I agree and she got strip searched, got her purse stolen and got covered in glue at the same hardening her dress wich split exposing her backside and underwear forcing her to wear that inflateable clown outfit later
@@trymheike7421 I know, right?! She definitely doesn't have a good time in the film, and definitely isn't treated like a lady! While it's funny to see her misfortune, I also feel so bad for her! She's so cute that it's impossible not to feel a bit sorry for her as she keeps getting so humiliated. 😂
@@patronsaintofprocrastination especially how the inflation focus alot on her backside
@@trymheike7421 Ah ah, yeah! It's so funny but if it happened in real life, she would probably never get over such a big embarassment!

Who feels bad for Esme during this film? The whole story the revolves around Esme loosing her stuff mainly. 1. She's stripped naked at the airport
2. Most of her stuff along with the pig gets stolen in the hotel
3. As she's searching for these, her dress gets ruined and her purse is stolen as well
4. When she gets back her dress rips apart and exposed her butt. Resulting in her having to wear Fugly's clown suit
5. And in the ballroom they take her handkerchief first, then her stockings and shoes and finally the waiter takes the tag from her, which causes her to rip the only remaining clothes she had as she inflates into a baloon.
Hey -- she gets a new helper with their laundry.😁
Not to mention in a deleted scene she gets rapped in prison

I think that really adds to the comedy of this scene! Truly what a bizarre movie
Why does this scene have so many dislikes on the MovieClips channel? I don't get it
Why does my 13 year old girl cousin Brooklyn who was born on August 15th, 2008 and was a gymnast from 2014-2019 know about The Lion King, but not this scene from Babe Pig in the City?
This film just makes me deeply sad for some reason.
2:57 Kid-me is just sitting here wondering WHATDA🤬 IS THIS MOVIE EVEN TRYING TO BE??
That whooping laughs my butt off 2:19 🤣🤣🤣
4:12 This looked like so much fun to me when I was younger.
After thinking well, the suits creator in that universe didn't though two times about the failure when he created it.
