  • The purpose of this video is to show what the MilesCraft Edge Guide can do. We loved it and it added a great look to our Oak Cutting Board. We hope this honest review can help other wood working hobbyist find a new tool that will help them in their shops as well. We are not sponsored by MilesCraft. We did enjoy this product for two main reasons. First, it works well as you can see in the video. Second, you do not have to spend a fortune on this product. Wood working can be expensive, so any great tool that you can add to your shop without breaking the piggy bank is a win. We made this White Oak Cutting Board a couple months ago and decided to add a more professional looking edge to the board. The finish product can be viewed at jkwwoodworks.com. Thanks for watching.
After reading some of your comments, I wanted to add this to help clarify some confusion. I made a short video about how to properly center the base plate. The link is down below. Sorry for any confusion that I caused. I also added two links where you can go to purchase this product. I want to say thank you to all those who comment on my videos. Your comments are helping me improve and I truly appreciate it.

You had the center insert inserted backwards. Put the 1/4 shank inside the router and use the 1/2 inch shank to center inside the bushing. If you don't fix that you will melt your guides when you make a cut.

using your cordless drill is a good way to cross thread those machine screws.

Please, go back to 3:17, the base plate is NOT centered with the centering bit... Loosen the base plate screws, plunge to allow the centering bit to align the base, then tighten the base screws.

TBH The straight parallel to the edge cut should be just as easy with the piece that comes with the router - I don't see any value in the attachment if that is all it does - just more clutter. I was also disappointed in the cut - seemed to be quite furry on the edges, is your bit a bit too dull?
It also looked like there may be a potential for a bushing fitting in the attachment - is that the case?

You are absolutely right. It is another "thing" that you have laying around. We believe it does have some value since some routers do not come with extra attachments. It also can help guide around round edges, and we have seen others use this tool to make perfect circles. This tool is not for everyone. However, it was a great addition to our shop, especially since at the time, we did not have a router table.
You can add a bushing with the router base.

    Buy a router table.

That's the plan eventually. I think it would be a fun project to build too. I have seen a lot of different router tables to others have built that I think are better then ones you could buy. What do you think? Build one or buy one?
