I salute you we need more teachers like yourself to many people would rather see people fail with no warning. No hands on is experience never earned
Great video. You are a treat to watch and a testament to all backyard mechanics everywhere. Keep those wrenches turning.
Great video man ,and no Ford dealer wants us to know.
Great video. Just did mine in my14 f150. A little work but saved me big time. Thanks for the video.
Looks exactly like my 2017 ram steering rack belt setup, EXACTLY LIKE IT! I’m going to be replacing my belt so I’m glad I happened accross this video
Thank you sir for making this video. Hopefully that’s what’s wrong with my steering. I’ll find out soon.
Well done sir! Thank you for the video!
Thank you sooo much for the video, I saved time and money. Just a tip for anyone else who watches this, watch the WHOLE video, the end was the first way I tried and it works. Once again I thank you sir.
Hey Mark, did you have any issues dis-assembling and re-assembling the unit? I'm thinking of doing mine but have a few concerns before I start. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Ken
Hey Ken, I really didn’t run into any issues until after i was done. My left blinker would would act up every once and a while and keep blinking fast like I had a bad bulb but my lights were good. That happened for a few weeks and then just stopped before I actually got a chance to find the problem.
Hey Ken, other then that just work slow and patiently. The band is a little stubborn but is totally doable you just have to turn the axle differently since it’s still on the truck.Hit me up if you get to that point and I’ll try to walk you through how I did it.
@@MP72792 Merry Christmas Mark. Thanks for responding so quickly. When you say "turn the axle differently" what do you mean? Do I not have to remove everything up to the electric motor?
@@kenmullin8649 yes you do. I use a small pipe wrench to turn it. Just don’t grab it by the threads. And a very Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Great video Ken. If you ever do another one please video the shorter method. I'm sure many people would appreciate it. Great job problem solving.
Cheers Ken
Good job, I’ll keep watching!
Great job of editing my videos! Thank you.
Thank you this video was very helpful and save me a lot of money
Thanks my friend. I have to do one tomorrow
LOL! looking at the shaft and seeing the radiused threads is the tip off that you're dealing with ball screws.
It's what they use for axis drives on machine tools because they need smooth movement without any slop.
It kinda makes sense that they'd use them for electric steering too, especially because they have gotten a lot cheaper in the last few years.
thankk you for your video It was very helpful
Nice video ❤
Thank you for the video I had the same problem with my truck, so I changed the bell because it broke, but now when I’m driving it shakes, what can I do to stop it.
Excelente video me ayudó mucho para reparar la dirección de mi camioneta
hola luis que síntomas tenia tu carro ?
Just replaced the belt in mine. Thanks for the video. Now, where did you find the belt with angled ribs? Every one I found was straight ribs.
Thanks a ton for video. Where did you get your belt? Cant find the link
Good video. What noise are symptoms where you having with that ?
Una pregunta
Después de que cambias esa parte
Se necesita Aser programación a la computadora o solo así deja de hacer el ruido..
Yo sé la cambie pero solo poco duro en dejar de Aser el ruido y empezó de nuevo ...
How did you get the pulley with the ball bearings off of the spiral shaft? I know you said not to, but mine is making a horrible noise behind it and I’d like to check the bearings, and give them some attention if I can. Won’t take grease in through the front because of right tolerance. Great Vids! My belt is ordered and on the way !
Hope you will see this comment.
When you said "horrible noise", did you mean like grinding noise? like metal on metal contact but has no grease on them? My 16 Explorer is making that kind of sound every time I turn the steering wheel, I found a video that shows the steering wheel doing the exact same sound (Ford Taurus), later on the owner was able to pin point the sound came from that bearing.
Not gonna lie, I feel like dropping my EPAS rack down and go straight to that bearing (thinking 1 or more inner bearing balls are broken)
@@Kay-dx8vm did you ever figure your problem out? I’ve pinpointed my sound to the rack motor/gears (on PS) and have metal on metal sounds mimicking what some describe as shuffling of a deck of cards. Or running a metal bar over a spinning bicycle spoke)
good day friend
what happens if the new belt has straight teeth
6:00 is my life right now
What was the truck doing my Chevy pops when I turn the steering wheel right or left low speed or idol does not pop when I’m driving normal
Great info! How is it holding up?
So far so good. Every once and a while my left blinker acts like it’s burnt out but it’s fine. Any suggestions? Maybe a sensor or adjustment I may have missed? Anything helps. Thanks again.
We've put about 15000 miles on the truck since the repair without any problems.
So the belt is not broken do u think it's a electronic problem in that square box that's on the rack and pinion component
What’ was the issue with yours? I have a 2016 mustang gt was in accident all fix now but it have steering wheel possition code.. and my. Car pulls
The band in the electronic assist busted and I had to replace it.
Where can I get the racks in the power steering
could someone make a video who has done this more than once? wow, this was painful to watch!
Im sure you saved me 2 grand I took it all apart and sure enough the belt was torn up...
How is the belt tightened??
The idler is eccentric. The belt needs to be pretty tight.
Can Somebody please Tell me how this thing at 6:45 is called and if its possible to Order one?
Thanks in advance :)
Did broken belt throw any codes
Same question
I have a Dodge 2014 Big Horn 5.7 hemi the power steering went out I drove it to work in the morning fine got in at lunch and it wouldn't work I looked up all kinds of things and can't figure out what's going on can you help me
gave you the notion that the belt was out my steering is not turning
Talk to you later bye, 12 times 😂
What do you do if the belt is not broken?
I took the part out all the way the out and the belt broke is Broken, and it still wouldn’t work And it still does not work. What kind of troubleshooting that I need to do or do I need to go buy a new one? It’s bound to be something that’s Little.
Where did u order ur belt?

I have a 2015 Ford F-150 5.0
Yesterday I was driving and made a U - turn on a intersection, now my steering whee is lock up and made a Whiney sound
Could it be the belt ??? Or need to replace the whole rack opinion ??
Also is there a fuse ? That maybe burn off ?
You fix it ?
There is no pinion in that rack. Interesting. It is a recirculating ball and wormshaft arrangment.

This makes me want to pay the price and be done, I don’t have the time
You don't have to take it off
With a bottle jack and one socket (tie rod nut) and one hex socket (6 bolts for housing cover). I had the broken belt out in 20 minutes. Waiting on the replacement in the mail.
Spoiler alert 1 ball missing.
You don’t have to take the unit off to begin with 🤦🏻
What a CRAP design!
Camera man sucks
You think you could make a video not turned sideways?
