    Nice video - wish there was more on strategy. I have watched tournaments and have no idea what they are thinking or doing. Towards the end you missed a chance to show how “on back line of scoring zone does not count for the zone where most of the puck lies (I.e. need to see wood between puck and line when viewed directly overhead).

    • @HomeLeisureDirect
      @HomeLeisureDirect  Před 2 lety +1

      As long as the player is stood behind the horse collar (the end of the shuffleboard) and not taking their shot from the side, they can push as long as they're able to. Thankfully, most shuffleboard playfields are long enough (and most peoples' arms are short enough) for it to not make as much of a difference overall.

My oppponent lands 3 pucks all on the #1. He has 3 points. Can we finish the round 5 to 3? Or even better, like corn hole, this makes the score 2-0 because I finished two points higher?

    I just played on a brand new plank, and the pucks roll off either side. Nothing was sticking onto the plank like in this video. Absolutely no hangers. If you shot anywhere near the edge, your puck would go in the gutter. And sometimes even a few inches away from the edge, after almost coming to a stop, the puck would move towards the edge and fall off. People are saying the wood "needs to settle" (it is brand new). I don't buy it. I think the plank was made poorly. Any suggestions? Thanks

    • @HomeLeisureDirect
      @HomeLeisureDirect  Před 7 lety +1

      That doesn't sound right at all. The climatic adjusters haven't been installed correctly, if at all. The plank should be concave. Perhaps it hasn't been installed properly by a professional, it might have been ordered for delivery only and the owner has just set up the cradle and dropped the plank in without any adjustment to the plank itself.

    • @willbelasco
      @willbelasco Před 7 lety +1

      Home Leisure Direct thanks so much for the quick response. Yeah I'm not sure who set it up when it was delivered. So it sounds like maybe the plank is ok and the whole setup might be able to be adjusted. I'll see if we can contact the company who built it.

      Prevention is the best type of cure here, as using an opponent's colour would invalidate the round. If every player has their own coloured pucks in-hand at the start of each round, you'll be unlikely to play with one of your opponent's colours by mistake.

    • @HomeLeisureDirect
      @HomeLeisureDirect  Před 2 lety

      Could be a few reasons for that, but the most common is that the plank probably needs to be re-levelled. Will definitely be the case if you're noticing your shots gravitating towards one side. It can happen if it's on a particularly soft/spongy carpet with lots of people walking by frequently. :)

    • @HomeLeisureDirect
      @HomeLeisureDirect  Před 2 lety

      It's a little tricky to explain with just words, but I'll do my best! Only one player can score in each round. The player who scores the points is the one who has the furthest weight down the plank. From that furthest weight on the plank, count how many points it scores by seeing what scoring zone it has ended in. From the weight you’ve just counted, work backwards and find the next one. If it’s another one of the scoring colours, then add its score. Keep adding until you reach a weight of the opponent’s colour.

Naturally this isn't terribly practical for a lot of home customers, so "as long as you like/can get" is a pretty good bet (the most popular size usually being around 12 or 14ft).
