CLASSIC '68 MUSTANG FASTBACK! FE BIG BLOCK FORD! SAME OWNER FOR 50 YEARS! BYRON DRAGWAY!

  • Made famous by Steve Mcqueen in the 1968 car chase movie "Bullitt" the '68 Ford Mustang is one of the most popular '60's mustangs even today. Duane Renz of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin was influenced by the movie to buy this '68 some 50 years ago and still has the car although some obvious changes have been made to this classic over the years. Originally a 302ci mustang the car is now powered by a 398ci fe big block ford with brodix aluminum heads, a 950 demon carb atop an edelbrock victor junior intake. The power is fed through a 3 speed auto c4 trans to a Ford 9" rear with a leaf spring suspension that punishes the Mickey Thompson Slicks shod with classic Centerline wheels. What's really cool is it's an older build that's brought to the track on an open trailer, not a high tech or high dollar operation you tend to see anymore. Duane was out testing this day and usually can be seen competing in the pro eliminator class (9.00 to 13.99) at Byron Dragway's Bracket Series events. Even at his age Duane still isn't afraid to let it all hang out and is well known for his wheel up launches! #bigblockford #musclecar #68mustangfastback

      Windsor short blocks are actually more stout than the Cleveland and they have priority main (crank bearings) oiling which the Cleveland does not have. The only thing special about the Clevelands were the canted valve heads. A good set of modern aftermarket Windsor heads will flow as much or more than a Cleveland.

      @davescbradiorepair8195 Před 2 lety +1

      @@danmyers9372 Alot of the Cleveland oiling problems are nothing but a myth anything of short of pro stock racing is not a problem just like most any other motor. I have turned quite a few of them 7500 many times with no issues no bearing etc failures it's all BS. There's always been alot of bad stuff said about the Cleveland and it's only to promote the selling of the Windsor parts since the Cleveland stuff is getting scarce. I hung around MR Glidden enough and learned alot of important info about the Cleveland and the lies that are told. Don't get me wrong ive had my share of Windsors and yes it's is a very good motor for a normal everyday car but for performance applications it just doesn't Have it unless you spend a butt load of money on it. Now a Windsor with Closed chamber Cleveland heads is great. I'm not knocking the windsors I'm just saying they aren't for me.
