FFS, "Anyways" is not a word.
It's "Anyway".
Your girlfriend might think it's cute, but you sound like a 5 year old every time you say that.
will i get a metal card if i PC to the ritz carlton?? Also Does PC give a SUB??
@Ask Sebby is their a downside of product changing now right before the new year? Should I wait unitl Jan 1st? Worry that the new year may trigger new restrictions/fees
This card is so "rare" that when I the Front Desk lady asked for a payment card at check in she thought I worked for ritz carlton haha This was at a JW Marriott.
I normally don't care about "status" or "prestige" but this sounds like a really enjoyable little moment that I would like to have lol
My guess why Chase doesn't "re-open" to new applicants is it was probably a deal made between Chase, Marriott, and Amex, that Amex would get the "luxury brand" card slot, and Chase would get the "entry level" cards. But the reason Chase doesn't out right close this loophole, is probably what Sebby said. This gives Chase a path to put their customers in that higher AF card while also still playing coy with Amex and saying "what? no, we don't 'officially' have a luxury Marriott card in our portfolio."
Iâve had the card for years and was grandfathered into đthe $395 annual fee. Iâve always found the $300 airline credit to be useful because itâs not tied to a specific airline as with AMEX. And itâs even better now with the 85000 free night credit. Itâs a keeper for me.
How do you get the free grandfathered?
They are bringing the metal back !!
đ„considering getting this card after my boundless card hits 1yr.
Pretty cool how Chase & Marriott still allow product changes to the Ritz-Carlton Credit Card years after the SPG merger & Bonvoy program launch đ
I was able to product change to the Ritz card yesterday via the method you showed in one of your CZcams videos last year - THANK YOU! I'm SUUUUPER pumped to have the Ritz and Brilliant cards now for those annual 85k night awards and Platinum status alone!
Does it make sense to have the ritz and the bonvoy brilliant though?
@@IronHulkTriathlon - Congrats on the upgrade, Christopher! Enjoy the Ritz đ„
@@MrAfresh11 I just received my Amex Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant earlier this week. Iâm planning on doing the product upgrade to the Ritz in November when my Bonvoy Boundless (which will be 3years) annual fee is due. To me, it makes sense to have both in terms of usability, e.g. American Express isnât as accepted worldwide, whereas Visa is. The Ritz, being a Visa Infinite product, would have more usefulness, thus still garnering Bonvoy points & premium perks.
Hey mark! Did they change the amount of guests you can bring into the priority pass lounges?
I got this card when they still had the 50k cert and I still thought it was good value. 85k is now a no brainer. I found out you get the 35k one from the Boundless first and at the end of your first year you get the 85k which makes sense.
I slightly disagree with the valuation of the 85 cert. Iâd say closer to 800 or 1k if you use it at the Ritz in half moon bay which is absolutely amazing
Hi sebby do you have video on what is the best order of getting Marriott card from both chase and amex?
Thank you! I previously asked for a comparison video between this and the new $650 Marriott card (in the comments of the $650 card video) but I'm glad you made this type of video.
đ„ can you please do part 2 of your hotel cards. Next year I plan on getting the aspire before a trip BUT I just looked up the ihg and now I'm going to get that one too. I need to know if I'm missing any
Been having the Marriott Bonvoy the no annual fee one for 10 months with 7.3k limit but I got the unlimited and flex so can move the limit around, really thinking of product changing in 2 months
I have it. Itâs a great keeper card especially now that itâs a 85k certificate.
Out of the 5 Marriott cards I have 2 are Ritz-C, I never understand why more people didn't have this card. I will try to get another one in the future as it's my go-to for seat upgrades using it's $300 travel credit. Whaaaat $650 for the Ritz, no bro, I am not going to be able to rationalize that, I will be downgrading my Brilliance unless I get a break on the af.
Pretty cool to see this little hidden product change trick you can do from Chase's Marriott cards to the Ritz card. Like you said, having that secrecy and exclusivity to an extent can only be a positive for Chase. Thanks for sharing Sebby!
Just like a secret speakeasy within a bar!
@@VincentPascual True!!
I applied for the Marriott Boundless above 5/24 and I was approved and received the sign up bonus. My original plan was to product change to the Ritz Carlton card. I hope itâs still possible by my 12 month mark!
Same 11 months to go for me hoping to change for the Ritz
Were you able to product change?
Thanks Sebby! Can you use the $300 flight credit for the United Bank like AMEX cards?
@askSebby. Did you ever show what the card looked like???
Thanks to you + Mark Reese I have the Ritz CC. It's definitely a keeper for all the reasons you stated at only $450 AF! Thanks for all the info + videos!
When you product changed, did u do it before or after you used your 35k free night on the boundless card? Did it affect that free night certificate? When did you get the 85k free night?
đ„ In because you requested this. I miss the Visa Infinite benefit this card had of the free cheap flights.
Hi Sebby! đ„
Are you able to hold both the Ritz Carlton and the Brilliant card?
Thanks!
đ„ Another great video! I PC'd from my Marriott Premier to the RC about 3 months ago and my MLA benefits remained intact. Two other details worth highlighting: the Priority Pass bennies include unlimited guests, whereas most cards cap at you + 2 guests. Applies to AU's as well. Also the $300 credit resets on calendar year. Now I need to figure out how to optimize my $300 credit, probably worth digging through FT Forums to see the DP's. Thanks Sebby!
for American, United, and Southwest (possibly Delta) you can upgrade a flight and refund for credit, effectively getting $300 worth of flights each year. I'm in California so I'm all in for Southwest. Already got my $300 flight credit the first month of owning the card
â@@journeyux406I'm very interested, can you please elaborate more on how to get the $300 back?
My friend was listening along and she said âThis guy speaks fast like heâs super caffeinatedâ I replied with he was or is partnered with a coffee brand đ đ„
Should i get the Amex Apsire first or a Marriott card and PC to this card first?
FYI You need to be under 5/24 for a CLI with Chase according to a reconsideration rep. YMMV but the rep made it sound like a firm rule.
I've been eyeing this one for a few years. I guess I'll go ahead and do the upgrade later this year. My partner really likes staying at the Ritz, so I suppose that anniversary night will come in handy.
This might be the only route to a Marriott card I would take. The benefits are great but I have a ton of overlap and don't travel enough yet to cut down on the annual fee. I even spoke to a friend who agreed that the Bonvoy program isn't the greatest and that Hilton has a better program. For me, I love the service I get from Hyatt, so I will maintain my status and loyalty as much as possible. Thanks Sebby, looked for you at the LAX Delta SkyClub yesterday!! Agree it is a club that is "off the hook"!!
Just like the brilliant, if they increase the AF to $650 this card won't make sense for a lot of people. I typically stay in more expensive rooms because they're free with certificates and points. But I'm not a person who readily spends in the $300 range when booking hotels with cash. It's just a waste to me. So I'd be spending money that I wouldn't normally spend just to get a "free" night.
Hi sebby, do you have a referral link for the chase boundless? Iâm opening one to get this ritz card
I had this card for years. Back when the card weighed a pound. I dropped it when Marriott only gave card holder Gold Status. Even after spending 60K a year, for years. I switched to AMEX PL.
Are you allowed to apply for the chase Bonvoy cards if you have the Amex ones? I really want this card but idk if the Amex cards disqualify me from never having it
Do you know if Marriott bonvoy business card can be upgraded to ritz one?
to clarify, to add authorized user there's no additional fee but each authorized user get's their own global entry credit and priority pass?
If im product changing from an existing chase bonvoy, will i get a ritz carlton SUB?
Do the travel protections and car rental cover authorized users?
Did they restrict the amount of guests for the priority pass. It used to be unlimited guest per card holder?
Do AU's get their own Precheck credit? I can't see anyone else that confirms that.
Another great video on a topic that many would dismiss (because of their opinion on the Bonvoy program). Cheers to you Sebby! đ„łđ„đ·đ„đŸđ»
Great video! I product changed to this card about a year ago and added my spouse as an authorized user. My spouse loves that it comes with its own priority pass membership with unlimited guests. This almost convinced my spouse to join me in the credit card hobby!
How does this compare to Hyatts cc's?
Unless they add platinum status i hope the fee doesnât increase as i will probably add the brilliant to get this. Currently in process to product change for ritz
I have Marriot business chase and boundless chase. If I PC from boundless to ritz. Am I now open for amex Marriott cards?
Can you use the 300 credit for the southwest hack(buying southwest tickets for less than 100)
đ» Another great video Seb. Have you done a video of how to use the Hilton Aspire free night? If not , can you make one please? TIA...3 thumbs up
If I have Bonvoy Amex should I get this card too?
Should I get if I have the bonvoy brilliant
Yeah that Presidential Card was Continentalâs premier card. They regularly try to make you PC to the Explorer card too. United had to keep it per the merger agreement, kinda like how US Airways had to honor that â80s American unlimited flight pass for some years on their metal.
đžI was thinking about product changing over to this from the Boundless, like the 35k certs aren't what they used to be.
Nice work Sebby!
đ„
I take a shot every time Sebby mentions the Ritz-Carlton card in a video. Letâs hope I survive this one đ„
đ„đ
I used to take a shot every time he mentioned the Maldives. Now I am an alcoholic.
how about bora bora đ
@@AskSebby, blacked out before we could get to that
@@charliedurham4248 czcams.com/video/-oJAve_sSAI/video.html
đŸ I love this card. The one draw back is having to call in to get the credit applied and the fact that certificate only covers basic rooms. I switched to this card 2 years ago after watching your videos
You can't possibly get a free upgrade even though you initially booked a basic room? Or the ritz card status doesn't allow for that?
I've upgraded twice so far. You have to call for the upgrade. They seem to usually expect to do so from scratch, but I managed to point them to the existing reservation I had booked online; this may be useful considering places like Jakarta and Beijing host multiple RC properties.
Do they not have unlimited guests on this priority pass anymore?
I have Sapphire Reserve and Boundless now. Should I product change to Ritz card and get rid of Reserve? I'm very tempted but don't like no more ultimate rewards points that can do much more than the Marriott points. What's your opinion? Thank you.
đ„ Great vid as always. For me Iâd rather just have the Bonvoy Brilliant than this (or both). I feel like having two Brilliant cards (for the certificates) is easier to justify given the dining vs airline credit.
Cheers đ„. Thanks for the updated info on this card. So, if someone already has the platinum what would be the benefits in getting the Ritz in your opinion?
Bridgett, I was wondering the same thing. I have ambassador status currently, was hoping he would reply.
Iâve kept it all along so Iâm glad to see it getting some love.
If at 4/24, is going for brilliant worth it before ritz product change 4m from now? Already have boundless. Wondering if reconsideration will reconsider if you get brilliant b4 or apply 4 ritz product change the same day. Why isn't ritz platinum status v. Brilliant?
Does the Ritz Priority Pass has no guest limit?
I heard the the Ritz Carlton card's Priority Pass allows unlimited guests. Do you know if this is still true?
Would you say itâs still worth it to get the card just for the FN even for someone who doesnât primarily stay at marriot, doesnât earn marriot points elsewhere and does not have more elite marriot status?
I had the Boundless and just PC to the RC card. If in another 12 months, if I still held the RC card, would I be eligible for the Boundless SUB again? since that would be 24 months part from my last SUB.
Canât decide should I product change or not
So, my Chase Bonvoy Boundless is going to be 1 year old in early November. If I product switch to this one after the 12 month mark, I'll be on the hook for the annual fee right away and the annual fee for the BB will be refunded, but what happens to the free night certificate? Am I going to get 1x 35k or 1x 85k, neither or both?
you have good videos. đ„ The beginning is a bit strange. Can you edit that out (where you're finishing another conversation)?
Itâs a cold open/ intro to get people interested in a topic. Common format on CZcams.
can you just get the $0 fee card and then wait a year and switch?
Hey Sebby, the Ritz used to have unlimited priority pass guests. Is that still true? It is unclear due to the verbiage on the app which refers to the sapphire reserve not the Ritz card. To clarify, I am referring to not adding AUs to do so.
since Chase don't provide hotel status to AU, can the principal card holder make the hotel reservation & include the name of the AU & only the AU will check in to Marriott & still receive the Gold status?
Great vide on on Ritz .... was unaware of benefits
Am I eligible for Boundless Chase $95 Welcome offer later on - say 90 days - If I product change my current Bold to Ritz today .... (My Bold Welcome offer was more than 2 years ago) - The reason I want to product change to Ritz now is the AU to my kids going to need during traveling (Lounge) & later on apply for Boundless - not in a hurry
So I called in to use my 85k certificate plus top off for Kyoto Ritz Carlton only to be told that I will get the on my next anniversary certificate. They updated this on Sept 22 and my anniversary night was Sept 20. All information from them made this seem as if we got a AUTOMATIC certification upgrade. Not true
đ„ This summer in Europe my children & their spouses loved being AU on my RC so they could hang out at nice lounges during delays and rebookings on their cheap airline tickets.
So is Brilliant $200 better than this card? You basically pay $200 for Platinum status, and get a coupon book you need to use every month.
A year later, the metal RC is coming back. Does this signal reopening applications? Higher af? Welcome bonus? All 3? đ„
đ„Sebby, I'm trying to figure out my next card. I ruined my credit in my early 20s, but fixed it a long time ago. My use situation is unique. US citizen, valid US domicile, but I live in Tokyo. I have my original Capital One Quicksilver one I basically never use (but it was the card that fixed my credit) and my Chase Sapphire Preferred that I've had for several years now. I will get Delta Silver status next year. I now work for a certain large international organization and have started doing business trips. I've traveled to the US twice and Europe once this year. Next year looks to be even more. Figuring out my next card is difficult. Delta Amex? Venture X? Maybe one of these Bonvoy cards? I am not sure what the pathway is. I'm technically a kind of public servant, so I think the business cards are out.
Thanks Sebby!
đ
Your are the best! Great Job. It's a great card to have. I didn't know that authorized user get GLOBAL ENTRY with cardđ
I got the Marriott boundless just to upgrade to the ritz in a year đ€đŒ
Iâve had this card for while and there is more, the card gives you access to JP Morgan Premier Concierge âthink Amex platinum conciergeâ and since itâs a visa infinite you can book in the visa infinite travel portal which gives you access to high end hotels.
Does each AU get priority pass to airport restaurants as well?
aww man I need a Chase Bonvoy to product change? Maybe itâs time to open a Chase
Could you let me know if the flight needs to be booked with the card to use the airline's incidental credit?
No. Could use a different card and pay for the upgrade/incidental with this card.
đ„ Thanks for this information! Iâm debating to product change my boundless card to this Ritz card and downgrade my reserve card to something else. Thoughts on that? Also thoughts on the Capital One Venture X card. These 3 cards Iâm trying to decide what the best combination would be and what to get/upgrade/downgrade. Advice/thoughts welcome. Thanks.
What did you decide. Same boat.
I ended up getting the Ritz. Downgraded the Reserve to the Flex. At that time I got the Venture X as it pays for itself and recently got the Chase Sapphire and got the 80k bonus on that since I donât hold the Reserve anymore. The Ritz also pays for itself so getting value across the board at this time.
@@rk39421 which card do you use the priority pass?
@@MrDIJEN15 Ritz gives the same priority pass as the Reserve - and can add unlimited auth users and they all get their own priority pass too. Don't do the venture x priority as that doesn't include restaurants.
đ„đžđ„ The Ritz-Carlton card has definitely been on my list for almost exactly 1 year now! Added a reminder to do the product change. Sadly though, since the new restrictions that Chase/Amex (really it's Bonvoy) put on new cardholders, getting any second Bonvoy card before 24 months have passed since getting the first one means you forfeit the intro bonus. Not to mention, product changing to the Ritz card completely eliminates the chance of an intro bonus from the Amex Bonvoy cards. One thing I'm curious to see, and I hope some data points will come to light, is if the 25 elite nights can be combined with those from the Chase Bonvoy cards? As I understand it, elite nights from Personal Bonvoy cards don't stack up đ Thanks for all the reviews by the way! Very Informative đ
Wow, i didnât know about the 24 month bonus thing with Amex/Chase. I had planned on getting a chase bonvoy and Amex bonvoy this year. I guess Iâll do chase this year, pc to ritz next year and then the year after get an Amex bonvoy. Thx.
@@ahmedagbabiaka That's my new revised plan too :)
Wait, so you can't have a Chase Boundless for a year and then product change to a Ritz Carlton without losing the Boundless intro offer you got??
@@amandamuzyka3704 if you get the bonus from chase boundless and pc to Ritz, you keep the bonus. If you open another Bonvoy card within that 24 months you won't get the bonus.
@@ahmedagbabiaka Thanks for the clarification.
I plan on product changing to the Ritz Carlton card, but am really hoping they raise the status to Platinum to compete with the Bonvoy Brilliant
I was hoping that is the case too but I am sure they will increase the AF.
@@joefong5611 Agreed. Not having Platinum status is the trade off for having a lower annual fee than the Brilliant. Aside from Platinum status, the unique benefits on the Brilliant are the $300 dining credit, $100 property credit, Amex offers, and Amexâs purchase/return protections. For RCâs unique benefits, you get the $300 airline incidental credit, the best Priority Pass, free authorized users, and the best travel protections. Ultimately, itâs all about how much you value the unique benefits at and whether they make it worth paying $200 more for the Brilliant.
Can you also gift tsa pre-check with VX? đ„
đ„ Just to confirm my understanding, you can add AUs that each get a TSA Precheck Credit ($85) and priority pass? And unlimited AUs too?
Seconded!
@@joshuanishimura1131 I can confirm you can add AU for free (not sure about unlimited) and that your AU's get Priority Pass. My dad had the card and added me, so I experienced this first hand. Never had to use the TSA Pre since I had my own CSR. It's still a fantastic card!
đ I might get this card.I opened 7 cards this year mostly from AMEX, I may have to wait a few months to a year.I preferred Ritz Carlton than Brilliant.
Aspire?
I dnt have aspire...Planning to get the 3 Hilton cards
Can you have both Ritz Carlton and Brilliant open at the same time?
Yes. You just need to get the Brilliant first I believe. Or you won't be eligible for the sub on the Brilliant.
đ„ great video
Thank you đ
đ„ Would love to get this card but that dang one lane rule!! lol
As great as these changes are, highlighting the product change loophole seems like a recipe to get it closed, even if it wonât affect folks who already have it.
thx sebby for all the great videos. if you product change to the ritz carlton card do you get the free night straight away?
ok. seems not. have to wait a year
If the Chase i know you are talking about the Chase Ritz- Carlton Card but if the annual fee goes up to $650 it would be just as expensive as the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card and it only comes with Priority Pass Select i believe they both should have Priority Pass
Only thing I hope if the fee goes up, it should come with a upgrade to Marriott platinum status.
stoke!!!!! I just called Marriott Bonvoy, and it was as simple as pie to switch over to the Ritz Carlton card. will arrive in 4-5 business days. yeah baby!!!!
You called marriot or chase?
@@ksniper2690 I called number on chase bonvoy card for upgrade.

Would the upgrade counts towards the 5/24?
No, it's the account.

Had this since before the SPG merger, and I still love it but they got rid of the Visa Infinite airfare travel partner credit which was unfortunate - though granted I haven't had a lady friend since early 2020 to use it with... Chase was just trying to make me feel less bad about being single again lol
Great video as always. Thanks for the insight. I'm on the fence to upgrade my Bonvoy to Ritz. 3 Questions:
1) The terms say if I had this card within the past 30 days I won't qualify for the Amex Bonvoy Brilliant SUB. Does this mean opened the account or actually hold the card in your wallet within 30 days?
2) If I upgrade my Chase Bonvoy Boundless to the Ritz card, will I pay the $450 AF when I would my usual $95 AF or is it due at upgrade?
3) Will the new Ritz FNA "Free Night Award" be awarded on the upgrade date or my original Chase Boundless account anniversary?
đ„ I've been watching you for over 5 years now and whanever you talk about this card it pisses me off because I can't get it đ€Ł
