a lot has been said on the Irish slave question. I thought I'd add my thoughts from Spike Island, the staging area used by the English leader, Cromwell. before transporting Irish men, women and children to the Carribbean to work on the plantations.
I hope this video can add a little background to the debate, and maybe even help historians in their discussions on this question.
in particular I wish to add the three points towards the end of the video. as I thought they might be relevant.

This is both tragic and enlightening...and slavery still exists today...but we must not forget how many groups of people, Including the Irish, suffered from slavery...

Fantastic work. In the modern political climate it's easy for some to dismiss claims of Irish slavery as racist, but in reality it's a simple fact and should only serve to unify those whose people may have also suffered similar hardships.

Couldn't agree more. Its more about honouring the victims, of all ethnicities, of this period of history.
