    Professional Plumber with over 15 years experience in service and repair shows how to install a Toto Eco Drake, gives tips and tricks on toilet selection and installation and explains why he recommends Toto to all of his customers.
    In this video I demonstrate how to assemble and Install a 2 Piece Toto Eco Drake 1.28gpf toilet, This is my personal favorite 2 piece toilet on the Market, Ive been a huge fan of Toto my entire career as a plumber and I have always felt the Drake is in a class of its own as far as two piece toilets go. The Toto Eco Drake has a great flush which can be attributed to the fact Toto puts alot of thought and effort into their toilets. The Eco Drake uses the 3" Toto flush valve which seem to last a very long time. Toto also uses the Korky Quiet fill fill valve which in my opinion much like the Drake itself is in a class of its own when it comes to fill valves. I have a couple customers that happen to work for Fluidmaster and they told me They are trying very hard to make a flush valve as good and quiet as the Korky Quietfill fill valve.
    The Toto brand toilets are just built better, They dont have as many quality control problems that you will typically find in other Brands, They use very high quality parts so they dont break down or leak- very often and when they do it only takes a quick swap out of a couple parts for them to be back in working order.
    Toto uses a Sanigloss coat through the entire inside of the Toilet trap which helps the debris slide through without getting caught or slowing down.
    This channel has no association with Toto or anybody from Toto we just believe in high quality plumbing products and we firmly believe Toto makes the best toilets on todays market.

    Amazing video! I have a 2 piece Toto (about 16 years old) that has a bad drain valve gasket. Tank level drops no matter what flapper I use. Drains to just below flap. I turn off water after tank fills and checked it the next morning, did several times. Toto customer service was helpful and suggested I convert mine to the new combination "tower flush" piece that has both the drain valve and flapper device in one tower piece. They gave me all the part numbers I needed and I ordered everything, including new bolts online. I was intimidated a bit to take the tank off and replace my older system with this new one, but your video took all of that concern away as I now get exactly how it will need to be taken apart and put back together. Keep up the great work and videos!! Best, David

    Thank you for this! The part I couldn't understand without the help of this video is that the porcelain of the tank and porcelain of the bowl actually end up touching... but just barely. Those of us who will only do this a few times in our lives have to be extra careful with this part!
    I made sure the bathroom was totally quiet and just did quarter turns on the nut as the porcelain got close to touching. I also rocked the tank forward a little as I tightened. The moment it stopped rocking I stopped turning the nut. All is well so far.

    Thanks for the video. I replaced the rusted water tank screws, and in the process of tightened the the bolt at the bottom of the bowl I heard a cracking sound and the tank was cracked. I barely turn my wrench less than 3~4 turns. Then I read the instruction on the replacement bolt package: hand tight only. Is it Toto so solid that you can put so much tension on the bolt? or is my old tank so bad that it cracked so easily?

    Hi, thanks for the video. We are building a new house and I plan to install 3 Toto toilets and was leaning to the Drake, especially after watching your videos. However, it seems on some of Toto's toilets with their new flushing system there is a almost a shelf in the bowl with a very small water spot, which causes an issue with streaking. Do you know which of the Drake models (Eco Drake, Drake II, dual flush?) have this shelf bowl vs the bowl with the larger water spot?

    • @PlumbingExplained
      @PlumbingExplained  Před 2 lety +1

      I would stay away from Dual Flush toilets right now I havent had a great experience with any model from any brand. The Toto's are fantastic the new flush valve system is in my opinion the best on the market today, I havent had to change one of the new flush valves or flappers yet! Except for one defective one when they first came out.

    • @PlumbingExplained
      @PlumbingExplained  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi there, the one piece is a better toilet because you eliminate the tank to bowl gaskets, bolts and washers those are all potential leaking points in the future atleast that’s how the service plumber views them so a one piece in the long run is a better toilet and they flush equally as good specially if you get the Cyclone flush

    • @PlumbingExplained
      @PlumbingExplained  Před 2 lety

      I just figured the wax was the easiest part I apologize for now showing that part but you set the single wax without horn down directly onto the flange then set the wax with horn directly ontop of that, then set your toilet onto the waxes. I demonstrate it in one of my other toilet install videos I don’t remember which one right now.

    Hi, 1st time watching your vids. Gonna be moving into my 1st new home in several weeks and looking for new toilets (2). Would live thoughts on a One-Piece or Two-Piece and is one better than another? After doing research the brand looking at is Toto Drake II and possibly a ICERA Vista II skirted toilet and these are both 2-piece toilets. But wondering if a 1-piece is “better”?
    Looking for a 1.28 gpf toilet W/O DUAL FLUSH & 100% want the LEVER (as not a fan of dual flush or sticking fingers into the button holes etc…).
    I’m “old fashioned” and when I use a toilet, wanna push a lever and have the toilet WORK, and LAST LONGER then me😉
    Renting currently and in the 5 yrs been at the house, I’ve had to replace/rebuild all the 2-piece toilets at least 2, and one toilet has been done 7 times 🤦🏼.
    Thx for video and any help you give/share✌🏻

    • @PlumbingExplained
      @PlumbingExplained  Před 3 lety +2

      Definitely stay away from the Dual flush toilets I hate them to be honest with you, They become very problematic over time in my experience. If you are set on 2 piece toilets the Drake is a great toilet I am not a big fan of the skirted toilets because they use a plastic mounting system that I have had to clear many many clogs from. Pulling and snaking a Skirted toilet is more expensive when they clog as well. I suggest If you have it in your budget to go with a Toto Ultramaxx II or Toto Supreme they are The best flushing one piece toilets on the market in my opinon. Hope this Helps! Thanks for your video! I installed two one piece ToTo toilets that were easy. But I had trouble figuring out assembling my new Drake II until I saw your video.
    I found it weird that the tank was rocking a bit on my Drake II. And it appears that the new design doesn’t have the two raised areas in front, which makes it less intuitive to assemble. I left a very slight play in mine, because I didn’t want to over torque the bolts. But, like you mentioned, it’s very solid once mated correctly. I opted for a thick wax ring, rather than doubling two standard ones.
    One of my three ToTo toilets came with a bad fill valve though. I’m hoping ToTo or the shop I bought it from will easily help me out with a replacement part. 🤞
    Btw, I also decided to install new 1/4 turn valves along with new water supply lines. I feel like those things should be standard things to be changed along with new closet bolts. 🙏 🙏 🙏

    The good thing about these units is you can put the old type 5 gallon flush tank on it to make it good for those of us that REALLY take a crap! The small tank can be put in the children's bathroom and the wife's bathroom but in the MAN'S bathroom you need the powerful flush,. The 5 gallon flush also insures your entire drain line is washed out so settling doesn't clog the line.

      @PlumbingExplained  Před 10 měsíci +2

      It’s pretty self explanatory, the video isn’t meant for people installing their first toilet it’s meant to help people that are experienced with these type of installs, There are other install videos on the channel geared toward people who have no experience.
      Instead of complaining about a free video that has lots of helpful information and has helped thousands of people you should try and be more appreciative of people who take the time to create these type of videos and inform people such as yourself, see now you understand how important things like changing the closet bolts are and if you unfortunately had to Google or CZcams search how to change closet bolts after that atleast you knew how important it was to change them in the first place, that tip alone will save you money and time so instead of pointing out what the video didn’t do for you maybe think about complimenting the next creator on how their video helped you.
