    Great video and great length. Better we receive shorter videos on a regular basis than longer but infrequent ones. Even if it's a 5-minute video with a quick idea. I mean, if it starts feeling like homework to you, that won't be good.

    This video format is totally adequate for me. Chart / hands / explanations. Was studying the is chart just now and decided to see if you covered it. Cleared up things I was hearing but couldn’t quite play..
    THANK YOU!!

    Thank you so much!! Wondered where you went? So glad your back! You videos are very informative and inspirational. And all the tunes you arrange are really well done and I like your improvisations that are on most. Plus you’ve got a good sense of humor.

    Short and to the point. Lots of useful information. I'm always happy when I see there is a new Tony Winston video. BTW, did I understand that you have been learning classical for just a few years? It seems that youngsters often start with classical lessons, and then discover jazz. My favorite classical posting of yours is Bach's F# minor prelude.

      thanks, yes i took lessons as a kid - I'll be doing some classical videos soon.

    Glad you're back Tony, missed you. I think the little and often theory is probably a good one. This one worked just fine and you made me chuckle (flibbertigibbets indeed!). Keep it going and hope to hear from you soon.

    Nice! Thanks Tony. I liked the 10th walk-ups. Opportunities for some 10th walk downs too. To many options :)

    Just discovered your channel. Good stuff here. I like the short videos that offer quick concepts to readily apply to my playing. Sunscribed.

    I love the sound of your flibberty gibbets. I keep trying to figure out exactly how you roll the chords or the blue notes to get that effect. Maybe as you're doing your current F blues series you could do a tutorial on some of the most common bluesy riffs (some of which are overused but the style calls for it). In the meantime I'm just looping your video and watching your performances. glad you have the Ab major version with your big band, that's the one I'm doing.

    The way you call out the chords you are playing is very helpful in remembering chord shapes and their progressions.Very enjoyable and informative teaching style. PS.What about writing a book for sale corresponding to your videos to help support your channel along with donations.Thanks Tony

    Hey! Thankyou so much for this video, very inspiring!!!
    I had a question: Motivated by your great lesson, I tried "My funny valentine" in a similar style - as much as my tequnice yet serves it - and I wondered, how does this Maj6 - dim-descending/going up work for a minor chord??

  • @lafayettegunterjr2967

    This is a fantastic tutorial. Can someone explain at 1:36 why he refers to all the 6th chords as "C6" -- that doesn't make sense to me. Are they simply chord inversions?

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  Před 4 lety

      Yes , all are inversions of C6 with a diminished chord in between.
