Pure facts. Finally a video that doesn't condemn him from things that were out of his control. He made some mistakes, sure, but we should not forget the greatness he had on ice.

THANK YOU! They just hate the hawks because they dominated for so many years, not because of players *allegedly (key word there) bullying a 20 year old that received oral from a creep/predator. Even if Toews did know what was he supposed to do? Protest until the team fired that trainer? What happened wasn’t even illegal, it was in a bit of a grey area, obviously we know now how evil that man was and is but he was a respected trainer back then. They were about to win a cup for the first time in almost 50 years, Toews was worrying about his game and leading his teammates. Not something that he didn’t even have control over/knowledge of and wouldn’t until the next year. The teams the hawks beat & their rivals get to throw this is our face as fans and have been dying to put an asterisk next to any and all of their cup wins for years. I feel awful for Kyle and agree that the situation was handled horribly. That’s why a hall of fame coach lost his job when his team was in 1st place & why the hawks were fined 2,000,000 dollars. “It’s so wrong they should’ve gotten multiple picks taken away” why? Who are they punishing when their isn’t a single person left in the organization from that scandal? On top of that, the NHL cant take away draft picks for things that have nothing to do with hockey/cheating. The name isn’t offensive either. The owner literally asked Black Hawk if it was okay to use his image, it’s out of respect. The Blackhawks donate A LOT of money to many tribes and help a lot of people. Stop doing this woke mob nonsense (most blue collar Canadians typically disagree with) just because it aligns with the team you hate. I don’t see any Canadians constantly calling out those world Junior teams that covered up r@pe and abuse of actual minors multiple times for years. See? You can only ridicule the teams you hate & turn a blind eye to the ones you support. It’s wrong and sad. Theo Fleury shouldn’t have been abused during the world juniors and Kyle Beach never should’ve been pressured by that creep & the hawks were wrong not to fire him immediately and warn other potential employers. Can we PLEASE move past this now?! Great video by the way! Love the channel. More Hawks content plz!

@@Pariah_Larry What Brad Aldrich did was 100% illegal and he should've been fired, arrested and thrown under a prison imo and what the management did after that was almost as bad as the act itself, but as you said, everyone who was involved has been fired. As I previously said, it's kinda dumb to put this on players, because it's rare that somebody puts their career in line for someone they do not know. In a perfect world, yes, but unfortunately we do not live in one (however you can shit on Toews and Kane because of their statements, they can always be your favorite players while not being the favorite/perfect person). The only one remaining from those times is Rocky Wirtz.
At first I hated his guts, but then I realized that he wasn't necessarily aware of the things his employees were doing, but then after that he made those tone deaf statements that made me kinda hate him again (while I still love the old core that brought us championships, I wish they would've just stated that the situation is and was unacceptable even if they were grateful to Bowman and co). It wouldn't be a bad idea from him to step down and let his son take the reins, as he is the last person on the current Hawks that have any ties to the incident.
Now the incident itself had nothing to do with cheating or basically anything hockey related stuff, so I agree that taking picks etc away from the team, was not the move to make. However, the fine should've been A LOT higher, but they were fined the maximum amount by the _insertthenamehearthatIforgotlol_ (whatever part of the NHL that handles these things), so there's kinda nothing we can do about it. You really can't blame that on the team. Anything that could've been done after the fuck up, has been done basically.
I also agree that success bring envy, hate and rivalries, that's part of the sport. But honestly I'm fine with the rest of the league not letting this go when Wirtz stated that "we are not talking about the past and we're moving forward" or some bs like that. The fact remains that hockey culture is bad and toxic as fuck and I hope that stuff like this didn't happen and it needs to be addressed always. We can only hope that these things will change in the future.
However, now that this is a hot topic solely because we got Bedard, it's laughable that people have the balls to use Kyle's name in order to take this pic away from the team. They don't care about him or anything that happened to him, they just don't want Chicago to succeed (which btw is already a whole different team with new staff and personel) and that's just wrong. You do not weaponize others suffering for your own gain.
When it comes to name and logo things... I can see both sides of it. They are iconic on their own right, but if it offends someone, just do something that doesn't. I've been trying to learn about this, but there are so many contradicting statements about the whole affair so it's pretty hard to say anything about it. Some indigenous people say it's fine, other's don't. Some people say it's honoring Black Hawk, other's say otherwise. We'll see what happens.

I always thought that Toews was overshadowed by his teammate Kane who was flashier with his cellys. And also by Sidney Crosby who he was compared to often. Toews wasn’t flashy just workmanlike and got the job done. It’s unfortunate that he got sick because he lost a lot of playing time and probably would have had 1000 points by now. Definitely one of the greats.

  • @liltazerboo5515

I love this video! It's true. His prime was incredible. people might be able to say "but Malkin..." "but Crosby...." "but Ovechkin..." "but Hossa..." and yeah. Because those players were amazing. And during his prime, Toews was as well. Whichever way you looked at it, Toews WAS amazing. He was better at offence than Bergeron and Hossa, and he was better at defence than Ovechkin and Crosby, Malkin. He had three cups under his belt before Ovi had any, and a conn smythe before Crosby had his first.
Was he lucky? Absolutely. Was that the only factor? Absolutely not. HE made those blackhawks teams good; HE made those canada teams good. There's a reason he got the Conn Smythe in 2010 at the sheer age of 22, the second youngest in nhl history. Because he tied the franchise record for most points in a single playoff run-- 29 points in 22 games. There's a reason he was named best forward at the 2010 olympics, over Sidney Crosby, who scored the golden goal. Because he was both better offensively AND defensively during that tournament. Because he always comes up clutch, and we've seen that the 2007 wjc shootouts.
That's why I wouldn't call him overrated. Was he the messiah of hockey? No. Was he a perfect individual? Not at all. He had multiple adversaries and most of them, if not all, were never in his hands to control. That's not his fault. It's unfortunate how his last few years went by in Chicago, but that's just what 'health' is. I've never seen a player so focused and dedicated towards his own health than Jonathan Toews, and yet. I'd like to think it was fatigue from lifting all those cups though. He sacrificed his body for the three cups and I'll always be grateful.

Dominant in that he was a selke level player, a God at the face-off dot, and had extreme offensive skill, with point totals brought down by all the defensive work he did. Conn Smythe and captained 3 cups too. Dude was a superstar of the highest level with his prime in an age of lowered scoring. Benn won an art Ross during his prime lol, that should tell you how scoring was
