It's the most tee-tiny, Othais might love it even more than I do. czcams.com/video/eQTMLRLaC3M/video.html
It makes your hands look big :)
The gun looks a little weird
@@Hans-yd2wc If I'm not mistaken, the main spring [corrected, as pointed out by @Psiberzerker] is above the barrel instead of below like in most modern handguns. Makes it look rather top-heavy.
@@exploatores It makes O's hands look massive!
I couldn't be comfortable with something I couldn't get a good grip on
"Girl pants pocket" - that needs to be a new category for handgun suitability requirements! 🤣
There are pocket pistols, then there are girlpocket pistols
That made me chuckle!
No, no, no. Do not get any girl started on entirely inadequate pockets their clothes are allotted. They want GUY-pants pockets, every one.
I was at a store a few weeks ago that, in amongst the chest rigs and drop-leg platforms, was actually selling women's undergarments with built-in concealment pouches. For guns. I feel like I need to state that explicitly. Maybe explicitly is the wrong word. This isn't going well.
@@moosemaimer I have set up visitors to RenFaires and SCA events with bodice daggers. Some bodices even have a sheath included in the design.
I fail to see how concealed-carry undergarments, for either/any gender, are unusual.
"Even fits in my girl pants pockets". Ha! Nice.
Well that was the original idea
Was expecting a barn yard pistol at first. Wasn’t sure what that would be but I was intrigued
A barn yard pistol shoots birdshot and is meant for snakes, boy I could have used one as a teen pulling square bales out of sheds.😀
@@johnmeyer4789 NAA .22 mag mini revolver with pocket clip folding grip. With birdshot is what I like
Looks like a Hi-Point that was in the dryer for too long.
I’ve got one of these. Accurate isn’t on the spec sheet. It’s really hard to get grouping at all because it’s difficult to get a consistent comfortable grip unless you’re the leader of the lollipop guild. Also the ejection port is on the side which throws casings into your hand if you have larger hands. These were meant to be carried in a vest or coat pocket, and were only really issued to rear echelon officers who weren’t going to the front. A lot of them were imported to the US, and from reading firearm and self defense books from the period, it seems like they were pretty well known at the time. Belgium has a long-standing reputation of quality firearm manufacturing.
I can totally envision some bored officer carving a set of oversize four-fingered grips for one hiding down in a dugout during long bombardments...
I feel like my life is a bit of a lie, because all of these early semi-automatic pistols actually existed back then. Not gonna lie, I actually thought there was only the Luger, Mauser C96, Borchardt C-93, FN M1900, and Colt M1911. At least that all changed when I played Battlefield 1 and discovered that this channel actually existed.
You just have no idea that there were other autoloading pistols before the Bordchardt
Most of the Weapons in BF1 were one of a kind prototypes, or never met full scale production.
The Helriegel for instance, had only one known model, and it was possibly destroyed some time during or after the war, with only Photos to show it ever existed.
The Mars was a Failure, due to both the Arrogance of it's creator, and the fact similar to the Creator of the C93, never tried to improve on it's design... But unlike the C93, he didn't have a British version of George Luger to improve the design, so it faded into obscurity.
By the Way, the C93 predates even the Mars, due to the fact that the "93" in C93, means 1893... The year it was made.
The first version of Boschardt's C93 was developed in 1898, and only fifty were ever made.
@@hoppinggnomethe4154 That's right.
@@Victor-056 It doesen't matter prototype or not, I still get to know that there were other early self-loading handguns, in those years. You don't need to type an entire essay for information I didn't ask for, because I did deeper research and actually found out about that. Plus, we're talking about handguns, and you randomly brought up a submachine gun prototype.
@@Victor-056 Also, I don't know any firearms designer named "George Luger", it was "Georg Luger", last time I checked.
Looks like the sort of pistol that Hercule Poirot would have carried as an ante-bellum Belgian Police Officer. That is, if Miss Christie had been a wee bit ‘gunny.’
I also think it would be ideal for espionage work.
love the serious face at the beginning with such a funky looking pistol
The more of these videos I see, the more I wonder how many alternate timelines you guys have visited for new material.
Alien Arms thought they were revolutionary, yet the Bayard 1908 accomplished the barrel-in-frame design over 100 years prior!
The algorithm has deposited this minute at my You Tube doorstep, and obligingly, I take it in. I have seen and even held a Bayard 1908, but never seen one fired. That's what I love about these Minutes of Mae. That and the smile at the end!
I find this one of the most enjoyable, informative gun channels. Mae doesn't waste time, and gives a good picture of how each gun performs and handles.
Mae redefines how many minutes in an hour.
For some reason, I can see Ian McCollum turning up at a back up gun match with one of these
kkkkkkkkk me to
“Even fits in my girl pants pockets”…. after I remove where they stitched them shut, because apparently for some women the smooth appearance is more important than having functional pockets. You try finding a compact pocket pistol in a generic daily use purse. It is a pain without a holster or dedicated pistol pocket.
One of the best YT short-series on guns. Thanks Mae!
That’s a beautiful piece of history. 🤠
Someone back in the day knew the strategic value of pistols and spent accordingly.
Knew it had zero strategic value and spent zero?
Thank you for doing this. I look forward to them and always leave with a smile.
maybe it's just me, but it's fascinating how we've come full circle back to trying to make tiny guns for pockets...but not using .25 acp or .32 acp
Every Minute of Mae is a wonderful thing.
Well done, always enjoy the minute of Mae videos.
When the barrel is where the recoil spring is supposed to be and the recoil spring is.......
My favorite minute of all that's why I am with this channel Minute of Mae great job guys keep it dudes and dudettes.👍👏👌
Definitely something an Officer would carry. The higher the rank, the smaller the service pistol. It's like a status symbol sort of thing.
HA!! Girl pants pockets............... That one actually had me laughing
Why I like her VIDEOS SHE GETS TO THE POINT AND SHOOTS 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Nice little plinker. Not much to look at, but it's got a surprisingly good set of features.
Great video
Our great grandparents LCP MAX
I would drop that everytime it’s so small🤣😭
I like a full size 1911. That .45 ACP is a great man stopper.
I love Mae video's!!
To be truthful. I wish you guys would move onto the interwar years. The garand, all the automatic weapons that were developed. All the subguns. The hi power the p38. The tokarov
ok id ccw this today
this is a cool little pocket pistol. may not be the greatest combat pistol but i sure do want one.
Eyyy, it's a minute of Maeee
Holy cow! It's a S&W Escort/2214/422! Nothing new under the sun...
"it even fits in my girl pants pockets"
That's how you know a pistol is truly sub-compact
The gun from " The meeting place cannot be changed ". If you know you know :)
Check out the size of the holster in the photo from the full episode’s intro. So tee-tiny!
Now I know where the idea for the Smith and Wesson 2214 came from. 😁😁
She os beautiful 😊
Had to DQ one recently..... idk what happened but it had a catastrophic failure many years and probably owners ago. Gonna end up as parts to save another old girl from the bin. Still sad tho.
There were several guns in that time frame that used the recoil spring over the barrel. I know you have covered some of them in the past. In a small pistol, using .32 ACP, there is no real reason not to. I have found that they tend to have lighter recoil than similar guns with the recoil spring around or below the barrel.
Mae sure gets to shoot some novel items
Thanks Mae
I bet if there was an 7 or 8 round version and some iterative tweaks that'd probably still be a decent pistol design today
I bought a bayard 1908 on GB a bit back and bought a 2nd bayard at the wanenmacher the other day. There is a bayard 1908 parts gun at my LGS that I'm going to go get.
Amazing technology for the time
Surprised that was a military pistol to be honest. Considering the size of the contemporaries out there at the time.
Still waiting to get back mine, a mutual friend is repairing it, had a broken extractor
i love you mae ; )
Wait..What: Girl pants HAVE pockets?!?! 😜
Right?
I thought they were all stitched shut!
"Even fits in my girl-pants pockets"
Hecking sold! Where do I get one?!
>Fits in the girl's pants pocket
Wow that is pretty tiny...I like the low bore axis...
I have one of these but it's in 6.35mm or 25 acp.
I love these one-minute videos. I subscribe to tons of interesting content, but the creators must assume they are the only one with their twenty-minute videos. I just don't have that much time. I skip ahead if I watch at all. But I like these entertaining, informative right to the point videos.
And that two-finger grip does seem awkward. Seems like they would have made a longer grip plus greater ammo capacity.
I love these "Minutes of Mae"! :-) Would you please consider 2 slight additions? 1) Add a shot of the target which shows her hits, like you do in the normal episodes. 2) Add a shot of the target, taken over her shoulder, along the line of fire. Thanks for considering it!
I think they previously talked about how she has to shoot it way more than what is shown to get all the footage, so she’s basically shooting at nothing most of the time. I’m not even sure they are filming when she shoots the group
@@TenaciousTrilobite Thanks for the feedback. And you might be right about getting a shot of the target over Mae's shoulder, while firing.
On the question of showing her hits after firing, however, I wouldn't think that would be very difficult. It appears that the "Minute of" shorts are extracted from footage taken during the prior filming of a regular segment. For example. Pull up the current "Minute", about the Bayard 1908 (czcams.com/video/A1NmYA5isKQ/video.html). On another tab, pull up their original segment on the Bayard (czcams.com/video/eQTMLRLaC3M/video.html).
Compare the scene at approximately 00:13 in the "Minute" with the scene at approximately 16:09 in the regular segment.
Compare the hair (lovely!), the clothes, the weather, etc. It looks like the "Minute" was taken from the original episode, or from footage shot during the original episode. Now look at 16:34 in the original. Viola! There are the hits, already captured.
Most of the full segments show Mae's hits. All I'm asking is that they consider showing the hits in the "Minutes", as well. Should be simple. :-)
I bet the Walther Model 3 is a contender here. If you can find one
That bore axis though
It's really inspiring to see a chick shooting all those cool guns! You give me hope for equality :-)
Othias asked her to do the videos, because she is the exact average height of a WW1 soldier and he wanted to show the scale of the guns. But I'm sure glad she is part of the team.
@@acester86 I don't even understand what she's saying in the videos. Springs and stuff. But I dig watching! Seen every video.
Mae has the *best* job in the world!
Yes, but let's see the grouping.🤣 Nice video!
When people talk about low bore axis... and here I thought my CZ barrel sat low.
To be honest though, the barrel under the recoil spring does look wonky as hell...
Interesting! How the low bore line. And people say Lago with their Alien 9mm pistol is groundbreaking ?
Man i would kill for a nice bayard 1908 I have 2 one was my grandfathers which is in Rough shape the other is a rusty parts gun to repair some rusted parts and broken springs in my grandfathers pistol.
My grandfather carried my great grandfathers bayard 1908 in Korea for good luck and as a back up weapon. He kept in in various places but he always talked about putting it in his boot.
That's one tiny pistol
More tee-tiny pistols, please!
Wait a minute it is the same size as colt 1908 vest gun
that is a smol gun
Belgian pistol, invented long before Browning by the Belgian Peiper manufacture of the same name, in my opinion Browning came to Belgium to learn, Paul Mauser learned his trade for 3 years in Liège Belgium.
This came 8 years after the Browning 1900, though
Have one with a broken extractor, unavailable, need to make one.
It's always funny for me when I see "the next great evolution in firearms!!!" on a new gun that is just a design taken from one of the guns of this period. If you read about the laugo alien you'll see all this praise about designing a gun with a barrel on the bottom of the slide, but it's already been done for over 100 years. First here, then with Mateba, then Chiappa.
Mae I love your com
What’s the hardest ammo you’ve had to source for one of these videos? If any
Wonder how the .380 would feel to shoot.
The thumbnail looks like a cursed backward gun.
i had to stop that at this 0:15 because things got to sound too familiar. ;-)
Is This Firearm In Circulation & If So How Much Would It Go For ?
Even fits in her girl pants pocket🤣
The Team Fortress 2 vibe is strong.
Those are the weirdest sights I've ever seen on an automatic pistol.
Inspired the S&W Escort and 2213 pistols.
Interesting, low bore (spring OVER bore) blowback. With a better trigger and switches, could be a great "mouse gun"! Maybe with 8-10 rounds of .380ACP (longer grip).
This is the Laugo ALIEN's great great great grandfather.
No beaver tail on that gun.
👍👍👍
I love 32 ACP
Damn right that pistol should be use as pocket pistol and not for combat pistol
Engagement post
I can't work out if Mae is Othias wife, sister or daughter...
And here we thought that the new Laugo Arms Alien Pistol was aa new innovation... just like all these new cartridge's they are simply old designs rebranded
Seriously, where do you get these old firearms?
lil fella
A comparison between this, a beretta 32 acp option, and a keltec p32 would be sweet. Or maybe like one wildcard .25 option lol
Throw in a Walther model 9
@@aa-yt7wo That would probably be perfect actually. That's a neat gun too
Mantaap di mana itu
Perfect pour handbag
Looks like a tiny turn-of-the-century High Point.
It's the mouse that... squeaked?
