You resemble your mom. Your mom looks great! That's a beautiful thing--in the kitchen cooking with mom. . . treasure the moment. THAT LOOKS LIKE A SCRUMPTIOUS RECIPE! 🎉 Celeste, in the ATL 💐
Kibbeh, Maqlouba, Musakhan are all dishes my mother made growing up. Thank you both for bringing back great memories and showing me how to make these wonderful dishes.
Awesome recipes simplified! hats off. From a single parent who never knew how to fry an egg! Tried most of the fine and fast food restaurants in California and all I got is high cholesterol and blood pressure! Watching you over time, I’m turning to a gourmet chef! Thanks
This is so good and simple, I've made it twice this week! I wasn't able to find sumac so I subbed a bit more lemon juice and it was still fantastic. I ordered some sumac online and it arrived today so I'll make it with the authentic ingredients next time. Your garlicky turmeric rice is simmering on my stove as we speak!
Hello Blanche and Vera.. I made this last night for my husbands birthday and he loved it! He said the flavor was perfect. My husband is Palestinian and from Beit Anan. Thank you for the recipe. It was so easy to make. I will try your other recipes soon♥️♥️♥️
Awesome new video... From an American, non-Middle Eastern person's point of view...This style/taste of this food is excellent... I suspect as more Americans are exposed to this type of food, it's demand and popularity will continue to grow.
This looks SO good. You're right - I was worried about the bread under the raw chicken, but at the end the bread looked saturated with all those flavors. Can't wait to try this!!
Love it !! so easy and yummy. Tried sumac for the first time a few weeks back. Thanks Vera for sharing your cooking tips. Love you guys can't wait for next recipe ❤👌👌
I will make this tomorrow since I have all the ingredients! awesome. Good to see your mom again! :-) I would add yogurt as a side with mint! OMG I'm drooling now. Stop me !
My Auntie Goram, God rest her soul, used to make this with tahboon. She used chicken quarters. It seeped with oil…we would eat it primarily in the winter and nearly die of heart attack.
Lol what a story! Yes the older generation loves to soak everything with so much oil, I use a fraction of that amount as I want to fit into my clothes the next day haha.
@@blanchetv I faintly remember your mother mention she is from Bethlehem. My husband is from, Jerusalem, Beit Hanina to be exact. His family is originally from Karak (Masannat, Al-Sunna families). He has some family in Nablus (Auntie Samira). I enjoy watching the videos you have made; they certainly help complete the picture of the "missed" ingredients my Auntie left out....lolll. Do you have a video of Manseff? Kanafeh?
Thank you for the recipe - loved it and cannot wait to try it out your way...Just have a question do you know anybody who has gastric issues and must stay away from acidic things ...can they enjoy this dish...since lemons are a main part of the marinade, wondered if cooking reduces the acidity and would still be suitable for those with gastritis etc (normally they cannot have tomatoes/fruit/vinegars/lemons). Your help would be appreciated !
That looks delicious. I gotta try sumac one of these days. I'm always looking for ways to use my pine nuts before they go rancid. You cut oonions the same way I do...
Hey Tim, yes this is one of my favorite dishes. Cool thing is you can get cheap good quality sumac online: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B03X2XI/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00B03X2XI&linkCode=as2&tag=43720f-20&linkId=f70975d7460ff398ca5f29f62b1f006b Hope you try this one out! ;)
I skyped my mom today and she made me so hungry that I've watched almost all of your recipes. I havent had her cooking in over 10 years and i get butterflies everytime I think about the food. I miss arabic food SOOOO MUCH!!!! I'm going to try maqluba tonight because my boyfriend is at work and doesn't know what I'm up to lol Hes white and NEVER let's me experiment with Arabic so if he doesn't like, I'm done lol Can u and ur mom come help?!?!?!?! Lmao I live in tennessee
Hey that's what I'm here for! Give the maqkouba a try, or try any of the recipes on this channel, I guarantee you will have your boyfriend hooked on Arabic food in no time lol!
I love your shows!!! I wanted to know can you make Mansef? I don’t know if I spelled it right but I had this dish a long long time ago and I loved it. Love your show 😍😍😍😍
Oh yes you spelled it right! It is on the list of videos I plan on doing in the future :) Hope you subscribe so you can get my videos as soon as I upload them. Thanks for your feedback my dear! ;)
look good yet it is not musahkan, the original authentic one goes like that: after caramelizing the onion you add them to a huge amount of olive oil. the chicken you cook it before, then take it to the oven, when everything is ready you take a bread dipped it totally in Chicken broth then immediately to the olive oil onion, you put the soaked bread on a tray then take mount of onion from the olive onion spread it over the bread then you add the sumac and other nuts you like, the chicken we put it over the top of bread mountain when you serve it...very heavy food but we eat it once or twice a year after The olive picking season is over.
Thanks Sana! Yes I streamlined it so it is much faster to make for the busy home cook--with much less oil. As Americans do more driving than olive harvesting they can save on the calories lol! Thanks for sharing your method!
so glad you made it short and sweet because i have a very short attention span. I am going to try this, it is easier than what i have been doing. I just wish you would wear an apron because i worry about you getting your clothes stained. If i wore a solid dress like your moms It would end up being a mess!

looks so delicious. thank you. Can you please show me how to make Palestinian JAJ MAHSHI. i saw video by mark wein in palestine. its a whole stuffed chicken with rice,!!!! cooked in a turkey bag. i cant find the recipe.
I think it wouldn't be as flavorful without it, we love garlic in our family. Great thing about recipes, is that it is an art, there is no right or wrong answer, and you can add or subtract whatever you wish to suit your own taste ;)
Well, then I think it is worthwhile mentioning that it is a personal choice, because if we are trying to preserve some of our traditional dishes, then we need to tell our audience that we are improvising. Thank you for giving a nice image about Palestinians :)
maya Jsmin my husband is from An Arrick, where this dish originated. I learned from the source, and they used garlic. I am sure there are people that don't make it with garlic too.

You can eliminate the lemon juice all together if you want, as the sumac imparts a lemony flavor on its own. Hope that helps!
Thanks for sharing I like it...
Love you Blanche ! Looks so good. And dang my family drenches the khubiz in olive oil 😂😂😂
Thanks habibtee, and that's the best way to eat it! Hugs, B

What if I don’t have all spice?? What can I use?
Daniel Szeto an equal amount of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
I'll have to try that onion trick. I've used nothing but sweet onions for years because I cry too much. I need more onion flavor! ;)
Yes give it a try! 👍

How much sumac and salt in the onions?????
Salt to taste, and 1 tablespoon of Sumac--you can add more or less based on your preference, no wrong way to do it ;)
