  • This is a cool project, and I loved the finished product. Basic design tips to create your own earring creations. Lots of fun and you can make these from the "scrap" material you have laying around. Next, we start looking at doing inlays. If you haven't subscribed, please do so.

      If you are asking am I going to be more videos on the LightBurn controls, the answer is yes. The next video I'm doing is using the perforation mode and creating paper tea lights. Should be a good one. Thanks for watching.

    Excellent result! It would be nice to also find a thinner material 🙂

    • @HoboWithWood

      The material I'm using is actually quite thin and weighs next to nothing. Once installed the hardware is the heaviest thing about these earrings. It got it out of the trash at a local woodshop. I have no idea it's actual thickness. I grabbed a bunch out of their trash and it all varies. You want an earring to have a little weight to it so it will hang well. Thanks for watching.

      What if you used 2 layers of heavy card stock glued together and then cut on the laser,
      and then spray a coat of poly for shine and durability.
      Don't have a laser yet but working on it so I am guessing

    Good video. Thanks for going through your process. Will go check your array video. I noticed you don’t have any links to the materials you use or affiliate codes. May help you. I know it would helped me to find out where to source the earrings hardware and would be nice for you to get a cut. I need to learn how to start getting affiliate codes for my own youtube channel.

    Very nice, I tried to follow along but at 13:50 I was not able to make the weld tool work. It would blank out everything except the outside line. I’m sure it’s something simple I’m missing. This is all new for me.

      Go back and watch it again at the 9:15 mark. Sounds like you forgot to do the same thing I did initially. But you didn't go back and correct it. I appreciate you watching. But be aware. I am bad about missing things. I show my mistakes. I mess up. You will too. But if you skip through my videos or don't pay attention you might miss me correcting a previous mistake. Fix the offset then create your duplicates and then start your array. Thanks again. let me know if that solves your problem.

    Do you have a video on engraving and cutting card stock?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  Před rokem

      I do not. That is something I really hate doing. I understand why most people buy blank earring cards from the hobby shops. It is time consuming. And it doesn't generate any revenue. It hopefully adds to the perceived value of my earrings. Yet to be determined.

    Can you share how to do acrylic earrings and wood earrings that are small without the burn and soot on them. I can’t figure out how to adjust the settings and make them small and clean. I want to make small post earrings in both wood and acrylic but haven’t a clue what settings to use. They’re the smaller ones than these dangling ones.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  Před rokem

      Are you using air assist? I'm doing small wooden posts about the size of a nickel. I've not done any smaller acrylic ones. There are other factors to consider too. The material being used. The ones in this video are done used solid wood. No plys. No fillers. No glues. No cheap basswood from China. Multiple passes to cut at a higher speed instead of a slower attempt to cut in fewer passes. The slower the laser is moving, the more the burning will happen.

    what do you clean and seal your finished earrings with? do you mask your wood before you cut? Thank you.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  Před rokem +1

      I prep the wood to a sanded finish that is super smooth. I am using solid woods that have been prepped to a thickness of around 2MM. Once happy with the feel. I place the raw wood on the bed and cut. After cutting I seal them with a spar urethane with UV, moisture and temperature protection. Thanks for watching and subscribing.

    Nice job! Thickness of material and settings??

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  Před rokem

      These were culls from a local wood shop. It wasn't something I purchased. I got the wood out of their trash. I simply tested the material until I found what worked. Since the likelihood of me or you finding the same material or thickness, these setting wouldn't help. Thanks for watching.

    How do you make a word like (the) horizontal and a word like (help) vertices with the (h) as a common point?

    • @chucklenz9011
      @chucklenz9011 Před rokem

      Vertices S.b. Vertical

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  Před rokem

      If I understand your question, I create the word one letter at a time. Each letter of the word is a separate text entry. You cannot type a letter, hit enter, type a letter, hit enter.... That doesn't recognize each letter individually. You must enter a letter. Then select the text tool again to create a separate entry for the next letter. Then again for the third letter and so on. Once you've entered each letter of the word, select one and align the letters on the vertical centers. You can use the "Docking Tools" to position them directly under one and another with precise spacing from letter to letter. If you aren't familiar with the Docking Tools, you should search for that on my channel. I did a really good video explaining them recently. I use them everyday.

    Can we use light burn software for cnc machine

    • @HoboWithWood

      I wish. But I don't think so. I'm getting ready to dive into Fusion 360. I've been told they are the "LightBurn" equivalent for CNC's. I was also told it is free to use for hobbyist.
