  • In this video I share with you a problem That I ran across while checking my wife's battery on her 2015 Honda civic. I was just scanning around in the engine bay and noticed a shiny aluminum staring back at me, so I went in to investigate. I found this rubber plug setting to the side of this gaping hole in the top of the cvt transmission. I figured pressure was the problem, so I looked around for the vent and found i all stopped up. Next step was to clean and inspect everything then re assemble and fire it back up. This was a fun little project and I hope it helps you tackle your problems easily. Ill link the parts that I used in this video incase you want to repair you 2015 civic.

    Thanks for the video, after working in industry for 40 years I’ve found that big problems can be avoided by fixing the little things first. Thanks

    Thank you! My son’s plug popped out twice in the last week and a half, drained all the tranny fluid. Original Google searches said it was the fill cap filled with debris, but that was clean. I found your video, and that seems to have been the problem. BTW: my son‘s 2015 has 210 K on it. And other than this, we’ve had no issues (knock wood).

    Thank you so much for your help! I have the same year, make and model of your wife’s car and that was the same issue I found when my battery had to be replaced over the weekend. So glad it was an easy fix. Honda was telling me they would clean it for $100.

    Ran into that on a newer Honda HRV. There is a TSB for that vent getting plugged and blowing out the plug.

    Too lazy to buy a new cap, i follow all the steps and before placing the cap back on i just placed a few tight loops using a simple rubber band. (It acts like a tight seal/washer) around the top. Give it a firmed twist/ pressing down the inlet. So far it doesnt pops back.😅 cheers

      Before fixing thia problem i feel the engine seems to jerk a lil in low speed. After trying this method it seems to dissapear and engine responds improved! Now Honda then this is really a global issues dire for design improvememt.

      Dont be lazy. The part is $4 on EBay. You dont want a rubber band breaking and falling into your tranny. That would be fatal.

    I have the same issue and have clogged up sand and mud in there. My car isn't pulling well. How do I clean the inside of the transmission and replace the oil with the plug?

      I changed the trans fluid on this one but didn't film it because I was in a hurry. I searched how to replace transmission fluid on a 2015 civic and several good videos came up. If you can't find them let me know!!

      As long as it didn't get water or debris in it you should be fine, or to be safe drain it in a clean bucket and check it and put it back in!!!

      The plug may be worn out. A new plug will be a little thicker and stay in place more securely.

    Eso es un error de diseño enorme, yo tengo una hrv 2019 y bastó una fuerte lluvia para que entrara agua oor ese orificio directo a la transmisión. Y en la agencia fingieron demencia y quisieron culparme diciendo que yo lo habia hecho intencionalmente.

    The part is called a transmission breather cap.

    • @ACDesignsGarage
      @ACDesignsGarage  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Maybe its clogged up again, not sure if thats possible that quick. It makes me think its a breather issue some where if the transmission is pressurized. I will say maybe you need a new plug, that what im doing because mine is pretty loose.

      Has anyone had a 2015 civic that makes a wierd rc car kind of whining when your accelerating from 0 to about 20 mph has almost no power in that range as well .
