Perhaps this is the most elaborate design from Conn this horn is a serious player! I have always loved the 40 and 48 models from Conn but definitely prefer the playability of the 40 (slimline version) of these horns. This horn is most certainly a closet queen as even the case looks great. The horn while being technically a Cornet has a supremely vast tonal palette. I’m using my ACB TA1 delrin mouthpiece on this clip which shows off it’s versatility. The sound on these newer Show-and-Tell series videos is completely raw with absolutely no editing.

Beautiful trumpet. I had the 40B handed down from my father. Same silver satin finish which I love not only for it's looks but also it doesn't need lacquer. I only played a couple years in jr high. 40 years later I was inspired by my daughter's dedication to the flute and tracked down a 48A vocabell also in silver with the beautiful engraving. I liked the sound of it better than the 40. I was surprised to see yours doesn't have the 3rd valve slide. I'm pretty sure the 40B does, but it's been years. The 48 has it and definitely needs it. Thanks for sharing yours! Your chops are definitely worthy of that very special horn. 🙂 BTW, the reason I found this vid is that I just watched the Ray Charles movie, and one of the props was I'm pretty sure, a 40 A or B. played by the part of Quincy Jones. Same case too. So here I am watching vocabell vids LOL!
Beautiful!! Love that deco design.
Thank you! 😊
Really enjoy all of your videos, especially the vintage ones. You don't get to see those any where else !
They just don't make horns like these anymore. While I love and play modern horns the vintage instruments will always have a soft spot in my heart.
It's gorgeous, a work of art.
It sure is!
Love this ! Looks and sounds great w' your artistry !
Awesome design, work of art

Saxquest!!!!! Good friends and former bandmates of mine. Great shop if you’re ever in STL. Great people too!!! Mark and Elke Overton.
My 1931 Conn 6m transitional alto sax has the exact same finish. Cool to see it on their other instruments of the time!! 👍

How is it that these old/rare horns come into your possession? Are they consignments? Do people bring them in to sell to you? Are they part of your own personal collection? Do you actively search for these horns to bring into your store? I know that you're a (relatively) new business, but some of the classic horns you feature are insane! Best of luck on your future endeavors, and keep it coming with the antique brass! :-)
A magician never tells his secrets. 🤐 Thank you so much for checking out the channel and your support! We do have a small amount of consignments but most horns are shop property.
