  • When you think of manufacturing in Northeast Ohio, steel and rubber probably come to mind. For over a century, though, another kind of metal work has been taking place in our own backyard that's brought enjoyment to millions all over the world. Here's the report from ideastream producer Bridget Whelan and Dan Polletta.

This was fascinating. I have 10 Conn instruments, and a couple Selmer.

Thank you WPIZ for posting this video. I have always wanted to see how a french horn is made--in particular, a Conn 8D--and after 30 years of interest I FINALLY get to see it!

I have done all this except the bell bending. They make it look easy in a factory setting.

"..what looks like a massive car wash."
From what I saw, it looks to be about the same size or smaller than most full-service car washes.

Regardless of what Instrument, Brand and Model you purchase, PLEASE purchase something OTHER than a China made junker. There is nothing that compares to the quality of an American or European gem.

Exactly! Well said!! Hope everyone had this in mind! Suspicious that China is the only country in the world that is functioning normal and the rest are in the shit due to covid19... Best wishes for 21! Greetings from Spain!

I have Pbone designed by Conn-Selmer. slide is carbonfiber... manufactured in china.

I have owned 2 pBones. I believe the slide is fiberglass and not carbon fiber. DaCarbo and Butler make carbon fiber trombones. Cost way more than a pBone.
