Manual vs Automatic! What's A Better Transmission For The 750HP Supercharged Ford Mustang GT?

  • 👋 Today I drive two Ford Mustang GT's! However, both of these GT Mustangs have Ford Dealer Installed Roush Supercharger kits and make 750 horsepower! Also one supercharged Mustang has the 6 speed manual and the other has the 10 speed automatic! So in todays video we compare automatic to manual to see what supercharged Mustang GT is better! What transmission is better for a high horsepower musclecar? Auto vs Manual! For me, I love how the manual Mustang drove with the supercharged engine. So much power and it all felt very manageable. Each gear had it's own character and it really was a joy to row through the gears with this kind of power. The 10 speed supercharged Mustang is definitely going to be faster in a drag race, but for me it has too many gears and it's not at all engaging to drive with the paddle shifters. I found that the automatic Mustang was most fun leaving it in automatic in the sport modes and letting the car do the shifting. There is a cool factor of driving a high horsepower car with a quick automatic transmission and letting it do the shifting. The un interrupted power delivery in the supercharged auto mustang was fun since it was just all power! So do you want a mechanical feeling car or the faster automatic? For the Mustang GT, the manual takes the win for me since it was just a blast to drive! Looking to buy a new car and want to know what the best transmission is for the 750HP Supercharged Ford Mustang GT? Then look no further! In this video, we'll compare and contrast the two most popular transmissions for this car - the manual and the automatic. We'll explore the advantages and disadvantages of each transmission and help you decide which one is the best for you. After watching this video, you'll have the knowledge you need to make an informed decision about which transmission to buy for your Supercharged Ford Mustang GT!

This is something I've chatted in-depth about with friends and the younger generation on and this is the overall take I have. If you are a car enthusiast it doesn't matter what type of trans you have as long as you are passionate about your car and are willing to learn.
However for those folks that argue they are a driving enthusiast, unless they are going for balls to the wall max performance, if they are driving an auto I'll look at them kind of funny, because as mentioned Manual does offer that connected driving experience that I dare say most driving enthusiast look for.
At the end of the day being able to do both will benefit anyone greatly and its a shame one is being fazed out. Especially if you go to any other country (outside of North America), and there is an emergency situation chances are the vehicle will be manual and knowing how to drive one will open up so many more things you can do in general.
This all coming from someone who just purchased a Mustang GT/CS in manual in January.

I had the stock 2017 Ford Mustang GT as a 10-speed automatic and that thing was just fast. I’d floor that pedal and it would just go. But i can admit it was just fun, no skill. I now have a 2015 Ford Mustang GT as a manual 6-speed supercharged Roush Stage 2. This is the best car I’ve ever had in my life. All the skills I am learning while driving and racing my 750 HP car are unforgettable. Wish I could’ve tried a supercharged automatic Mustang though! That would also be fun!

I've got to agree with you that it is all about personal preference. There are people on both sides of the fence saying the other is wrong. "Why buy a manual? The auto has superior performance." Or, "Why not buy a manual? Didn't you learn to drive properly?"
Both are wrong. You should just buy the car that suits your needs. It makes no sense to put someone down for buying the car they wanted.

idk... ive had three manual gt mustangs ('95, '12, and '18). i think the more recent years of this car is built for the auto and these things are so good these days. bmw and mercedes are moving away from manual and even DCT and opting to equip their cars with autos. i feel like auto lets you take more advantage of what this car is capable of (which is what i want if im paying today's prices). i like long road trips and MT does get tiring when you have to break cruise control to shift. plus i can have co-drivers (my gf) take over when i get tired. im not against manual but would probably get one in something more like a gr86, miata, or boxter where driving "feel" is more a part of the experience. if i had the budget, I would get a darkhorse or mach 1 with the manual and then have another GT PP1 with auto. but for that money, im probably looking at a 911 or M4 instead.
