    Most pop songs seem to be about relationships or partying, while metal actually has a great diversity of themes. That and its richer sounds and more thought out lyrics are what I appreciate about it and think other genres could learn from it too!

    All very good points as I do think that the radio has a some kind of pre-made set list and just refuses to vary the songs played. Even in the UK we never hear any songs by Cliff Richard on Radio 1 yet he hasn't done anything wrong. I'm not a fan of his work but I don't hate the guy and I can't understand why the radio station has taken this stance with him. So far I find it hard to choose between Tarja and Floor but I will say that I did not like Dark Passion Play but when Imaginarium with Anette I was like she is perfect for that album. When I was 12 years old I came to a point in my life where I started to question if I was religious and since then I say that i'm more spiritual and I just deal with the hand that i'm given. I'm straight but I have all kind of friends in my life and if they're happy knowing and living as the person they came to realize they are supposed to be then i'm happy and happy for them as that's what is important. I am also looking forward to more POP VS METAL or any VS videos and some specifically dedicated videos to either bands or personal videos..

      Hey Rob thanks for sharing, yeah I feel people listen to radio less and less for that reason. But even Spotify sometimes suggests the top 10 songs even if they are annoying or not the type of music I listen too. I think I am a little wild to fit into one box so yeah I need to stay away from religion even if I support one or two spiritual philosophies from different cultures. Thanks for your support I appreciate it!!! 💪🏼🤘

    1:10 Idkk I personally love heavy metal and scream metal, but I feel like its edgier when its the less popular and more judged genre, thats what gives it the edge. Thats part of the experience of a pop fan like me, getting into heavy metal, it’s the shock and excitement of finding it for the first time. If it was mainstream and commercial, it would lose that special touch to it

    You know every metal song has its own value its own meaning.People says that it is brutal(not all metals are brutal, but i listen to brutal death metal), but i think we express our agression, agony and pain and that's why we are so cheereful.And on the other hand, pop misic doesn't need a specific meaning or listeners don’t need to think so deep down about lyrics

    I think this topic is very interesting, especially as a recording / mixing / mastering engineer that started out in classical music with flute and piano as a kid the wennt on as a guitarist in a HC Punk / Death-/Metalcore band; also did did pig squeal, high pitch scream backup vocals. I'm mostly producing hip hop, rap, lofi, pop instrumentals and future bass / chill trap beats nowadays.
    Bands and Artists that shaped my way of producing music a lot are Xandria, Nightwish, Epica, Belphegor, Behemoth, Iron Maiden, Dragonforce, Deez Nuts, More Than Life, Dead Swans, Blink, Green Day, Underoath, A Skylit Drive, Thy Art is Murder, Parkway Drive, Waking The Cadaver, Aborted, Jinjer, SALES, The Naked & The Famous, NeverShoutNever, Nothing Nowhere, Sonny Digital, Metro Boomin, Juicy J (from 36 Mafia) and Zaythoven... just to name a couple oh forgot to mention Silverstein, From First To Last, Dillinger Escape Plan and Funeral For a Friend. Also a lot of Jazz, Swing, Blues and 80s, 90s Pop & Pop Punk - 2000s Pop Punk.
    Nice Channel keep up the good work!

  • @ke7031

    I'm a big metalhead. I love a lot of genres of metal, mainly black metal, symphonic metal, deathcore, and nu metal. My favorite band is Otep and I'm currently going through a Lorna Shore and Haggus phase.
    Still, there is so much value and artistic merit into pop. Yes, it's commercialized. But in an industry that monetizes and sells art, you are bound to have a soulless aspect and diming of creativity. However, I really feel like most of the artists are insanely good in their reach, vocals, and technique, as well as their music. You showed Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lady Gaga in your other comparison video and you dismiss pop as a whole here. I think people dismiss pop and use "commercialization" as an excuse because it's a genre that mainly centers teenage girls as an audience. For some reason beyond me, that's not as respectable.
    The three artists I named are EXCEPTIONALLY talented as artists. Their voices are insanely good and the raw talent they exhibit, apart from the technique that must have been hard to cultivate, is valid and pretty impressive. I mean, let's look at Miley Cyrus, who I actually listen to. Her past album was amazing. She had 70s funk and 80s glam rock embeded in her sound and featured greats like Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, and Billy Idol. It's emotional, messy, and upbeat.
    You can like metal and the grit that comes with it, but still respect other music even if you don't like it. I don't like country, but I don't think it's bad. I think there is a lot of merit in art that resonates with people, and just because I can't think of modern examples within the country music genre that isn't pop country pandering to conservative farmers, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's just not a genre I listen to or care for, so of course I will not have good examples of its artistic merit. The same goes for you and pop.
    Dismissing things you don't understand is exactly what created the subgenre and culture that is metal. Let people enjoy things without making a weird comparison, because you can't compare metal with pop. It's vastly too different to compare.

    • @metalground212
      @metalground212  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for watching, so death metal is a subgenre of heavy metal. It usually has extreme singing, with lots of growling, and the guitar and drum tempos are quite fast, they use a lot of distortion as well, if you are looking for something not as extreme I suggest you to listen to Arch enemy, they are a melodic death metal band.

    As a dutch rock enthousiast i definitely side with metal/rock over pop but you should not completely discount it, there are enough gems amongst pop that are worth mixing in your playlists.
    Also your way of comparing is rediculous, just because they can scream louder and higher doesnt mean they are better. Sometimes less is more, most of the pop artists you feature are actually widely respected vocal wise.
    If some of them(ok not katy or nicky lmao) secretly record an emotional song with a rock/metal band you would 100% add them to your favorite music list.

  • @OrkarIsberEstar
    @OrkarIsberEstar Před rokem +2

    metal is way more complex than pop in many many ways. themes of the lyrics, musical instruments used, styles of singing, vocal ranges...metal artists are - singers and musciscians alike - usually better trained and just better at their craft. I mean how many pop singers are actually decde long trained singers? in metal that happens frequently. How many metal musciscians can play clear 1/16 or even 1/32 notes? many. how many pop musciscians can do that? barely any.
    In pop its common for live shows to play FULL playback. In metal that is very rare and looked down upon.
    Pop is commercialised just like metal is but in pop its - again usually - even more so. just look at korean pop schools and the contracts.
    Pop is also made for a wider audience of..."casual consumers" that listen to the song while doing other stuff. Metal is made for more niche audiences (i mean just look at how many styles of metal there are) and is made to be enjoyed fully without doing something else.
    Pop - lyrics are usually just there to be another instrument and usually dont have much debth but lots of repetition. (say pokerface)
    metal - lyrics are usually meaningfull almost poetic and much longer with only the refrain repeating. There is metal bands i just listen to for the lyrics not the music. for pop i hear some for the music, none for the lyrics

    As a pop fan I agree that most of the lyrics are NOT IT and even pop fans find it annoying but thats the singers fault imo they're the one deciding to sing it exploitation happens because of fame not genere even actors who have nothing to with music experience it its just bad culture and poor management (which really needs to change)
    I don't get not liking something because its mainstream but i do agree overexposure of anything ruins it genres like rock jazz are actually well known (its not like people don't know it exists) but its not popular like they know its a thing but don't decide to listen to it I have listened to some rock songs I like them but sometimes the screaming throws me off sumtimes it sounds good
    And the video pop vs rock there are better clips of pop artists but i do agree sum like justin bieber & kanye are funny rock artists do seem to have amazing vocal ability and I'm some clips it actually is better (vocals) but in alot others its just different singing styles I still don't think one genre is superior to another or better

    • @metalground212
      @metalground212  Před rokem +1

      For me one should be able to benefit from a religious institution, you should be able to either attain spiritual gain, social experiences, new knowledge about life, existence or God's nature, and/or economical gain through networking or welfare. At first I thought every ex Mormon was an anti Mormon but soon I realized people speaking up were only people like you and me questioning the same things. Today I am not able to justify the church and their actions, from the begining Smith had criminal records. The whole polygamy thing was slowly working me out, I even found out the church admitting there were 16 and 17 year old brides in the early history of the church. The leaders of the church always change their minds about religious issues like racism and lgtbq rights. The nature of God and even eternal families. Don't even talking about temple ordinances. Finding bout about their financial statements and realizing they have stocks in Amazon google and that they actually built a Mall in SLC where I leave was the last drop. They are not satisfying bme intelectually, spiritually, economically, or even socially. I weigh all of those things and so I decided to leave. I found out all the incongruent stories about the book of Mormon and the pearl of great price later and then I started to research. And the truth was quite devastating. Go to LDS org and look for this items yourself pray about it if you still believe In God and you will find answers.

    • @metalground212
      @metalground212  Před rokem +1

      I understand it is hard to leave the church, there are good things about it. Sometimes you find a great community. I am grateful for the people I found as many of my friends still belong to it, but for me the church preaches about a God that is different than what I got to know personally. All the ideas and misconceptions of sin and the nature of God tired me. And the weight on my scale for them had more negative things for me than good ones. So I decided to leave.

    "sexuality is a spectrum [...] its about the vibe you get with someone"
    yes, but thats like everyody else. It's not because you're gay that you like all men, not because you're lesbian that you like all women ....
    If you an hetero man, that means you exclude men from your potential partners THEN exclude every woman you dont have a good vibe with.
    So bisexual dont exclude anyone based on sex (gender does not exist) and focus only on the vibe since sex is not a criteria. It's not "identifying", it's a fact.
    It's not complicated and there's only 3 options. Gay / straight / bi. Same as there are only 2 sexes (again, gender does not exist)
    People telling otherwise are delusional lunatics
