I swapped my own GPU for a GTX 960 for 7 days to see how it holds up and how usable it is today...

as an overclocker, my heart dropped when you turned all the sliders up
I mean? Would it be much trouble anywho? Should still be adequately cooled
Edit: Oh, yeah crashing happens yeah ok
I used a gtx 770 for so long. It could run most games even doom 2016 in 40-60 fps range.
I'm buying a 770 2gb next week. I am not hoping to play the latest games. But games from 2013 to 2017. Would u recommend it?
Can I play cod mobile with a 770?
@@methmaranaveera3273 it can definitely run games around that time and some optimized newer games, but for best performance you'd need to be on a ddr4 board. try to find a 4gb 770 if you can, it's a way better pickup
i had a guy who wanted to give me a gtx 770 but i didn't take it in the end because i got myself a 1650
@@methmaranaveera3273 why would you get a 770 lmao
I used to run 635m for so long; i’m so happy that I thrown it
The reason why temps dropped under load after oc is because of power usage. You weren’t drawing more than 105w usually. I own a 960 that can do up to 175 but rarely reaches that. The cooler and how much power it draws will never make it touch 70c on the cooler. At most I saw my 960 do like 66c while gaming at most. It was almost always chilling at 57c tho
I had that exact same card the 4gb version, overclocked the hell of it! it was cold as ice! never got up over 51C, what an awesome card it was!.
Cool vid man!
Cool experiment, but what you didn't know about overclocking a lot of video cards, is they go into a high temperature throttling mode when overstressed. You have to sneak up on the OC. Try something less?
Had that precise model for a few years .. yeah is pretty cool by default, low TDP, plus a beefy msi cooler .. it will never overheat ... the only bad part was .. that i had the 2gb model and also .. maxwell sucks at dx12 and vulkan ... pretty nice experiment buddy, nice vid ....
nice vid buddy
the reason you see lower temp even on overclock is that you are vram limited on 960 with shaders and textures so your gpu usage is lower you can clearly see that the TDP is lower on 5 fps minecraft anyway good video .
Thank you for sharing, I noticed the TDP but didn't think of vram
if you wanna get a graphics card to at least 70c, take my 7600xt, it gets up to 90c on the hotspot temps when playing minecraft shaders
Currently running a 4gb 960 daily, I used afterburner to get max clock speeds without crashes and it never goes above 50 degrees
*Love the GTX 960 i have owned every 900 card and i still feel their great plus these cards support Windows XP so their beast Retro cards* 😎
Run a game thats not 6fps but more 30, so that the watts of the gpu are high, in msi afterburner, turn the powerlimit to the highest possible and then overclock it
I did the same thing a few months ago!
Eagerly awaiting the video when an A.i tries to get you to Overclock and run at 40 degrees, after it sees what you did here to one of it's ancestors. 😄
If your monitory refresh rate is under 144 or 165hz it wotn get hot
i have a geforce 960 and it runs fortnite in the 80 120 fps, idk what is the issue with your pc but probably bottleneck on some way?
i got 2 spares of GTXs and let me say they run better than my RTX at time, my GTX 980ti hybrid and GTX1080ti
Im still rocking my good o'l gtx 1070ti :)
Bro I get 200fps on gtx960 2gb bo3 custom zombie, how
What you failed to take into account is Nvidia, was pushing for card looks parody in the 900 series. So many of the makes just threw on higher end coolers on the lower cards. The the 960 archetecture Maxwell 206 was one of the better per watt cards of its time outside of the 750ti.
The 750ti is also Maxwell btw😅
@@xenomorphgaming7472 I know, outside of the 750ti (60w) that didn't even need power cables the 960 (120w) is a low wattage, with a cooler that was meant for cards with 130w more power drawl.
@@xenomorphgaming7472 rx550 4gb version also aged well
i'm still rocking a gtx 660, hoping to upgrade soon once i can get a new computer
I rocked a 560t it broke. I'm gonna buy a 770 next week. Is it good?
@@methmaranaveera3273 not really sure, but i assume the 770 would be better than what i got
@@kristheredpanda I hope it will support the NVENC encoder in obs. My cpu can't handle when recording
i use a 550ti for long time now i have a 6700xt after that video i wanna test my old 550ti btw nice video keep going❤
get the 2024 driver updates i get like fucking 150 fps in fortnight performance mode which is crazy and my 4060 gets like 270-350 it seriously aged well
@@nodudelikeme560 ti stopped receiving driver updates bro. Latest supported driver is 391.35 . Its form 2018
@@methmaranaveera3273 bro I downloaded it by default its set to 2018 one but if u go device manager Rx 550 let me pick from a list of drivers and it shows up idk why not by default
@@methmaranaveera3273 and yeah I meant 150 peak and 120 average
@@methmaranaveera3273 the 2024 driver only shows up in device manager I.e let me pick from a list of drivers
this guy is so good! but so Under Rated
i dont think you need a 5800x for a 2060 super at all
My brother has a 970
They are a great card for the $$$. Esports and other light titles wouldn't be a problem.
Wouldnt be a problem if cs2 wasnt such a mess
@@user-hr1uw4cj2z HAHAHAH really true in csgo i got 180fps with 8x mssa all very high settings while in cs2 i only got 110 (even 80 in heavier maps) fps 4xmsaa with the lowest setting possible and still stutter like everytime the enemy throws made or gun flare
You should try the GT 1030 2gb 😂
im on day 1789 of using my gtx 980.I think I beat the challenge
ayoo what is that on the roof XDDD 2:54
You would've likely been happier with a 4gb model of the card. I have an EVGA GTX 960 4gb, and it's fine I guess. I wish I had a better gpu tho :/
Me using an radeon hd 8550 and 2 core 2 thread 1.7GHz Pentium 3558U cpu for everyday game playing:
using a 980ti as my main lol
A lot of people including me would shit on a 2060
2:55 😬
💀
why the fuck do you have a little trees in it
pc needs to smell fresh
Damn you downgraded to the best gpu i have 😎
your cpu is bottlenecking your gpu downgrade cpu to get better frames lol :P
pal that ain't how it works
RX 560 vs GTX 960 are outdated
like back in 2022 i dreamed of 2060 card and i had gtx 960 back then right now i have gtx 1050 ti
yo man i run that EXACT card but its 4gb instead of the usual 2gb model and it manages to pull its own weight today, i dont play any AAA new releases so it does its job perfectly fine for what its worth, good card!
