Prevention spraying is the key to managing tomato diseases that show up in your garden year after year. Start spraying consistently before they arrive. I use baking soda and aspirin spray and have greatly reduced, slowed diseases and even prevented diseases from showing up.

I wonder if this only works simply because it is a mulch and therefore protecting your plant from blight spores splashing onto the leaves in rain and during watering. if this is so, then any mulch will do.
I question these strange "remedies" that have no scientific basis. There are a lot of youtube gardeners out there that spread junk science and weird remedies just to get views and subscriptions.
People must never forget, gardening is a scientific endeavor. there's no mysticism involved.

March April is our early spring with 40 degrees not uncommon and frost. Late April early May it starts to warm. From May 15th until Sept 15 we are our warm growing season. I add neem to the water first and then add soap to the water and neem. You just need enough soap in the water so that when you shake it the oil stays dispersed for a good minute. You have to continue to shake each spray. What is the mix ration you use with neem and soap. I might try it.

  • @icecreamladydriver1606

My question is-- do you think I could put multiple things in the same spray? I know you have suggested Neem oil with a bit of castile soap-- do you think I could also add in epsolm salt, a dash of baking soda, some fish oil fertilizer and aspirin?? Or could there be some bad reactions by mixing everything in a single container? Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi Gary! I am using your channel for growing my first tomato plants and it has been so helpful. My plants are indoors and they are still pretty small - anywhere from 3-7 inches. I recently cut off leaves on multiple plants because I found (what I think to be) tomato spot. Now I want to prevent more from being infected because my plants are pretty bare... would this be ok to use on indoor, small tomato plants? I worry about spraying the leaves directly because I have seen many warnings about water on leaves causing funguses.

i have a small garden with green peppers and cucumbers mixed in or close to the tomato plants (which take up most of the garden). will this spray hurt those plants? i'm trying to control aphids (very few this year) and leaf blight (always bad, a persistent struggle) - i tried an ivory soap baking soda mixture to control aphids and leaf blight, and it appeared that some of the peppers may have lost some lower leaves where i did most of the spraying, but i'm not sure this was the cause. i also get black spots on the tomatoes (not blossom rot, some other fungus) but i just trim that off and eat or cook with them anyway - tastes fine, just not pretty (calcium issue??) - also - can i spray the ground and then put down my landscaping material, and then spray the material with bleach or something else to try to control the blight i get every year? I actually don't know. I don't think so as they can fix their own nitrogen,. But someone else will need to answer.

Andrena Joe-Louis Hi there! I am not an expert gardener but Gary is right. I planted bush beans last year and I didn't have to fertizer them while growing.I just added some compost and organic fertilizer when I planted them and they kept on giving us beans till September.

PinayInFrance hi thanks for giving me your advice. Another question my beans are flowering, but no beans. Do you know what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Andrena Joe-Louis wow! that's good that your beans are already flowering in May. just wait for a few days. The actual beans come- out where the flowers are. They look like little sticks at first. Good luck!

You have to test spray. Spray some leaves and wait 48 hours. It should be fine.

Can I spray avocado, mango, citrus trees

    • @THERUSTEDGARDEN

Yes but it is good practice to make your spray. And test spray each tree. Spray a bunch of leaves and wait 48 hours. See how they react.

It is sold at HD it is actually the Round Up brand but it is really good. The pump handle plastic could be a tad stronger but over all for $16 it works well.
