  • An update on changes to services at Ealing Broadway since my last visit. I was there gathering material for an episode of my District Line series. Great Western now have only two calls per hour in each direction since the Reading stoppers were transferred to TfL Rail. TfL Rail now run services to Reading, Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow (T4). The 360s will remain on the former Heathrow Connect services until the Heathrow Tunnels signalling system is updated. The 332s are still passing through on Heathrow Express as the modified GW 387s also need to wait for the Heathrow signalling update. On the main line, the Bedwyn stoppers converted to 5 car bi-mode 800s from December. GW are also using 5 car IETs on the Oxford and North Cotswold route.

    Always look forward to your videos Boogie. Keep them coming, brings back memories of working on the railways back in the 70's.

    Great video. I left the UK in 2005. I hardly recognise the railway stock now. Class 20s, 37s, 47s, 56s and 60s are still running, though probably on borrowed time. Many thanks for sharing your video :)

    Good footage there. I miss spotting on the Great Western when I'm in London but there is next to nothing that interests me anymore there

      The main line is certainly monotonous and the green livery doesn't help. At certain times of the day there is a lot of freight activity on the relief lines.

      @@BoogiesTrains yeah the freight is mainly the only thing that'll draw me to there now I think

    Great video, as ever, but could I please ask that subtitles be in solid white letters, as they are very different to read as is. Thank you. Keep up the work on a great series.

      @BoogiesTrains  Před 4 lety

      Hi Starman. The subtitles are a difficult subject. Due to the ever changing background no single colour can achieve a consistent contrast. I settled on blue with a white border after much experimentation.

    Very rare you see a GWR 387 on that route in 4 car

      JakeyG0406 shame that Hanwell only has short platform and may not accommodate 8-Car GWR Class 387 and 9-Car Class 345 Elizabeth Line trains but can only accommodate 4-Car and 5-Car trains. And Hanwell is now step-free as there are lifts installed on both platforms I think. But could do with minor improvements and platform extensions.

    U found 66413 with the orange livery I wish TFL use 9 car on service that will be cool. And wave from the driver I saw that from left screen.

    • @BoogiesTrains
      @BoogiesTrains  Před 4 lety

      Hi. I think that the service is changing to 9 car units and that the 7 car units are all going to the Shenfield service so that the last TfL Rail 315s can be withdrawn.

      @@BoogiesTrains When their gone. The London Overground 315s still be safe.

    • @BoogiesTrains
      @BoogiesTrains  Před 4 lety

      Not for long though. Some 710s are already in service and more will join them quite quickly now that most issues that kept them out of service are resolved. I've seen photos of new units being dragged south from storage recently. As many are already completed it is just a case of having the capacity to prepare them for service.

    When the Elizabeth Line starts operating services from Shenfield and Abbey Wood to Reading and Heathrow Airport through Central London hopefully next year. Most of the Class 345 Elizabeth Line trains will stop at Ealing Broadway.
    But will some of GWR Class 387s might stop at Ealing Broadway operating a stopper commuter service between London Paddington-Slough, Maidenhead. Reading, Newbury and Didcot Parkway. And GWR Class 800 and Heathrow Express Class 332 pass through the station. And also Heathrow Express are replacing the Class 332 with the modified Class 387.

      @AndrewG1989 Před 4 lety +1

      Plus what is happening to the Class 360/2. Will these be cascaded to Bangkok to be used on the Airport Rail Link. Or will it be sent for scrap or cascaded to EMR along with the Class 360/1 from Greater Anglia.

    • @ynysboy3654
      @ynysboy3654 Před 4 lety +2

      I’d say sent to EMR, I mean the trains are only around half their lifetime. Right now they are about 15years old

    • @AndrewG1989
      @AndrewG1989 Před 4 lety +1

      ynysboy True and downgrade them to Class 360/1 4-Car which means that EMR will have 26 Class 360s working between St. Pancras-Kettering & Corby in 4-Car & 8-Car formation and 12-Car formation during rush hour & peak times.
