I recently rerode Jersey Devil. The mid-course trim barely slows the train now- if at all. So the two off-axis hills on the return run give some weak floater airtime now. Then the final speed bump has more power now across all rows.
I also got some night rides and the area around this attraction has an eerie feel once the sun goes down. It's pretty isolated from the rest of the park and I love how it borders the water.
Unfortunately, the coaster is still highly unreliable. It was closed for half the day and when it did open, it had short but frequent breakdowns roughly every 15-20 minutes.

It’s my home park. I’ve been on JD at least 20X this summer. You’re right that the park listened to complaints and has loosened up the brake run. The other thing worth mentioning is that the front seat has the best hang time feeling. It’s because nobody is seated beside you, and you just have the straps. You really feel like you’re going to fall out of your seat. No other coaster has that exhilarating feeling.

Just rode this for the first time with my 14 year old son and it was awesome. It’s funny because we both had that nervous energy for the extremely high drop in the beginning and I remember saying “once we drop the rest of the ride is a breeze.” Oh how wrong I was lol. Ironically the part we were a bit nervous about turned out to be fun and no where near how extreme the rest of the ride was. We both got us and said “what did we just ride,” lol. I highly recommend this ride, it’s fun as heck but my only little complaint was (for me) it does jostle your head around.
Also, I found out that this coaster (The Jersey Devil) is the fastest and highest *single rail* coaster in the world. Crazy awesome.

Excellent review! 🔥 Just got off it Tuesday. 6 rides on it and never waited longer than 10 min - in fact I was allowed to get back on INSTANTLY (re-ride) without waiting.
If it wasn't for how quickly I could just jump right back on it - I don't think I'd of liked the experience nearly as much.
First time on I got front row, second tine on I got last row. I then got rows 2,7,8 and 11 as well. It's crazy how different the experience of the ride is depending on both row and time you ride it. First rides were around 2pm - the final two rides were closing time (630-7pm) and by that time row two had more force than row 12 had at 2pm - I then got on again and luckily got row 11 for my final ride and dang that was absolutely insane!
I must say you NEED to experience this coaster in different rows to get the full experience. While I am a backrow fan I think the front row of this one has just as much to offer. The first drop to me wasn't much of anything in any row as far as AIR time, it's just intense, but the dive - stall - turn around and zero g were fantastic.
I did notice, especially towards the back rows, theres some rough sections of the track which is somewhat concerning being brand new.
With all that said I can not rank this higher than Toro, Nitro, or probably even Ka. It just isn't on the same level as those but it DOES really compliment the lineup at GA, it just feels like it should have always been there. It has a bit of everything packed into one tiny package. 8/10.

Me and my son rode it and loved it. It’s funny because the part of the ride we were a little anxious and had those nervous little butterflies was that high drop right at the beginning. I even said to him “once we drop its a breeze and doesn’t look so bad (I was thinking along the lines of Aerosmith Rockin Rollarcaster as after you take off and complete the upside down loops the ride is a breeze.) Well, I was totally wrong lol. The part we were both a bit anxious about turned out to be the least extreme part lol. Definitely fun and worth a go.

Great Review! I really hope that RMC builds a modified and more economic version of the T Rex. Seeing that big parks clearly want these single rail coasters but need to make the layouts tamer to accomodate longer trains and mid course break runs makes me wonder if they are already thinking about something like that. I feel like the raptors loose their original purpose when you need to heavily modify and upscale them to get the desired ride capacity.

@ 10:33 (while riding in the front) you don't have to wait for ALL the other rows to crest the lift hill; you only need the centre of gravity to do that, but I quibble. More importantly: I'm glad to be a back car enthusiast so I think this ride is just my pace. Having said that: besides Great Adventure, Silverwood is also on my immediate bucket list since it's close to where my brother lives, and he expressed an interest in visiting Silverwood. It has the Raptor clone with ten train cars rather than eight! I'm hoping to visit both parks this summer in August if possible. If not: I'll visit Canada Wonderland. Thanks for this review!

I would say the only 2 downsides are probably for 1, the pacing and speed isn't like the prototype Raptors and 2, the second half dies which I guess is also part of the pacing. But this ride still offers a certain enjoyable experience, you have a nice zero G stall that no other Raptor has, you have a cool turn around section, amazing first drop, and many more things. It may not have the pacing of the other Raptors but it still does some things better like the hangtime, probably better first drop, length, and more unique elements. Coming back to this as it's been a year past opening and wow things have changed. Jersey Devil was the first coaster opening I ever attended, and I came away quite underwhelmed. Lately though, a lot has changed, some good and some bad.
As you alluded to in your update comment, the midcourse is basically off now, and that helps a lot. It significantly improves the second half, though I still wish it had a bit more power. The real big change though is the roughness. IDK what happened over the span of a single year but Jersey Devil has gotten pretty uncomfortable (especially at night). You feel every track joint like driving over a speed bump a bit too fast and the entrances / exits of the inversions can be back breaking. IDK what happened, it seems to be better or worse depending on the day, but I hope Six Flags figures it out soon.
Finally, I can't get behind the continuous loading system with a ride that varies so much row to row. I have found that ride ops almost always honor requests to wait for the back. Which I very much appreciate.

Now have taken eight laps on Jersey Devil. I still don’t feel like I have a great grasp on what I think… literally 7/8 times I ended up in row 6. I actively avoid the middle on any coaster where I have a choice so I don’t really know how middle row rides on JDC compare to middle row rides anywhere else.
The one ride I got that wasn’t row 6 was in row 12, and based just off of that I do think I prefer this to the original Raptor layout. I haven’t found the restraints to bother me on this or Wonder Woman. The operations were excellent and the MCBR hasn’t hit at all on any of my rides. I do prefer nearly every IBox conversion to both Raptors I’ve ridden but these are a lot of fun and I hope parks keep buying them.

Something that I thought was a little weird - one of my shoulders kept slipping out of the harnesses, like it was a seat belt with too much slack. It didn’t strike me as dangerous because of the lap bars but I’ve never experienced anything like that on any other coaster. I’m five nine and 155 pounds so it’s not like I’m unusually small either.

Thorough review. I rode this for the first time on June 6, 2022 in two groups of 3 rides each on a warm, sunny afternoon.
    Pacing:
    1) As you noted in the pinned comment from 8 months ago, the break issue has been remedied. I'm watching your footage of the ride's second half from a year ago and thank heavens it doesn't ride like that at all now.
    2) I prefer the pacing on Jersey Devil over Wonder Woman at Fiesta Texas. I've ridden Wonder Woman countless times and still can't tell you what it does because it all happens so fast and I don't mentally process what's happening until the ride is over. Part of what makes a coaster great is anticipation, and Jersey Devil gives me time to both anticipate the next element while appreciating the forces the coaster is currently placing on my body.
    Restraints:
Amen on the stretchy straps. I am 6' 2", my youngest child is 4' 10" - the Wonder Woman restraints bonk her in the head repeatedly while crushing my lower back. I have to do a few minutes of yoga/stretching before and after riding Wonder Woman, and even then only on the red train (each Wonder Woman train has stickers, either red, blue, or yellow). Jersey Devil completely fixed this issue. It is joy for the whole family.
    Operations:
Maybe I just got lucky, but Jersey Devil had no line. Got to pick my seat too on 3 of the 6 rides, and btw you're totally right on the back row. Wow! The extra 400 or so riders per hour this ride can accommodate over Wonder Woman makes a difference. At Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Wonder Woman is usually a 5 minute wait with Flash Pass, and they limit the Flash Pass to one ride per day (currently, maybe not anymore once Dr. D's opens). SFGA has no Flash Pass limit on Jersey Devil.
    Overall:
I didn't watch your video until today. Prior to riding I watched other reviews of Jersey Devil that were mostly negative. I went in expecting very little and came out wowed. This ride is in my top 20, and easily bests Wonder Woman. Dunno about El Toro. They are both great rides that do different things. So excited a Jersey Devil Clone is coming to Magic Mountain, as that park is more convenient for me to visit. Alan Schilke is a genius.

Just look how Intamin compensated for the extra steel by putting a double spine by simplifying cross ties and doing those thing "bracket" things between cross ties and spine.
