Man you ain’t lying those bolts are a pain in the ass. I torch them I was able to get them out in one piece. Used a mirror and torch for the bottom left bolt.
Next time try Liquid Wrench penetrating oil, they changed something in it and now it works real good on rusted bolts with heat. i used to use PB but not anymore.
Something you might want to try is taking a hammer and knocking the head of the bolts a few times. Then take a 1/2 impact and bump it once then hold trigger down. Never had one break with me yet. Not saying it will work every time but it has with me
I was so scared when I heard the bolt started moving in it’s threads and it made a popping noise, I was like oh hell no, I broke the bolt but lucky me they all came in one piece. Take your time guys, use a lot of heat and lubricants. Question is, after you replace egr valve, do I have to reset anything in Volvo tech tool (PTT)??
Just did one. What a gong show with those oil lines. Got lucky on the manifold bolts I guess. Just heated the fuckers up red hot and quenched em with water. Shit job for sure.
I did a video “Volvo D13 EGR repair”. In it I break down the entire egr and rebuild it. The oil lines cool the egr. As you will see they do not lubricate the egr. For less than $20 a lubrication port can be added to the egr valve and eliminate the problem of it failing.
@@strubies if the valve is electrical controlled you will probably get a check engine light if it is stuck in either position, and only way to fix this without changing parts is to program it to a shut position and the ecu will think it is working properly, but if it is vaccum controlled you can block the exhaust pipe going to the valve with a piece of sheet metal or something that can handle the heat and you are good to go.
@@polarViking will just blocking the egr valve help the engine run better? Doing this with the metal sheet will prevent the gasses from recirculating into the engine, correct?
@@strubies i do not know if you will gain hp or nm by blocking it, but i can guarantee it will not make it worse. In the long run you will have a healthier engine, with less soot and build up in the intake, on the valves, and inside the turbo if you have one. Egr is there only for one thing, to lower the emissions, but what i find funny is when i have my car with blocked egr on the EU control and they measure the emissions, it is good every time.
I've been wrenching on trucks for 3 years now..... the last videos you saw of me in a shop in 2014 was me taking a break from driving. Im done driving now, I'm a certified technician now at a Kenworth dealer.

Is there a special wrench to remove the lines on the egg valve on 2018 volvo
Do you connect the lines before you install the egr valve back on with the four bolts?
what do you like better driving or fixinf?

How do we know if EGR is going bad?
Valve gets stuck in open position and gives you a check engine light. In the long run it will hurt the engine.
@@polarViking what is valve is stuck closed?

Why u go back and forth? Not being rude or w.e just asking seriously on why is it so hard to choose between mechanic and trucking?
