  • After years of collecting, I have tried most of the popular ways to clean LV vachetta leather. Since the leather is untreated, it can be very finicky! If you don't want to damage your bag, please don't use an eraser or Magic Eraser. They will make your bag dry and cracked.
    Disclaimer: I'm not an expert, this is just what works great for me. All bags are different, and depending on the condition of your bag, results may vary. Please test in a small, hidden spot first.

    Hi! You can clean the brass parts. With Brasso. It leaves it nice and shiny

      I use Brasso on other bags, but it can stain the vachetta leather too easily if it accidentally gets on it.

    Hi there! Thank you for this review as i never thought to just glaze over the saddle soap and to prevent it from getting sudsy use a damp wipe, not wet. I have a 2005 Speedy I just bought that should arrive tomorrow. I thought about doing the masking tape hack too. Have you tried it and if so, what are your thoughts? You just stick on tape and peel off and it lifts dirt and grime however the vachetta becomes matte. My thought is after you touch the handles the gloss to the vachetta will return. I'm thinking it can't be harmful as there is no scrubbing, but instead just lifting out the grime

      Hmmmm, I have never heard of the masking tape hack! That’s a new one, let me know if you try it, but I fear it would remove too much of the leather and make it more susceptible to absorb future stains. But I’m definitely not an expert 🤓

      @VintageSac I was wondering if it will make the vachetta handles more porus too where it may get dirtier. I can't imagine it removing leather as it's just masking tape. The youtuber that I watched showed the dirt coming off. She didn't mention leather being damaged. I'll let you know if I try it. Lol

    Which leather conditioner do you use?

      For vachetta and light colors, I love Collonil 1909 neutral leather cream. It dries completely clear and won’t darken the leather.

    Does saddle soap darken vachetta leather?

    • @VintageSac
      @VintageSac  Před 3 lety +1

      Not at all. When the leather is wet, it darkens, but once it dries, there should be no change.

    Would this remove a tiny stain? Like a super small circle stain?

    • @VintageSac
      @VintageSac  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi there, it would depend on what created the stain. You could try a small area on a Qtip, just don’t over saturate. Unfortunately I can’t guarantee it will work on everything, so it’s at your own risk.

    Does this remove watermarks as well?

    • @VintageSac
      @VintageSac  Před 3 lety +1

      Unfortunately, I haven’t found anything to remove watermarks. This will just clean off surface dirt and grime. Doing so may lighten a watermark a bit, but it won’t make it disappear. TFW 🥰

    Can I clean the canvas this way?

    • @VintageSac
      @VintageSac  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for watching! I would recommend just using a damp cloth or water wipe for the canvas on the bag. Saddle soap is just for leather, so it might damage the canvas coating.

      @@VintageSac when I wipe the canvas down do I need to use a conditioner as well?

    • @VintageSac
      @VintageSac  Před 3 lety +1

      I use a light leather conditioner lotion on my canvas. I let it set a few minutes, then buff it off and it leaves a nice sheen.
