Majula is by far the most therapeutic and peaceful hub of all...I think the dilapidated temple is decent bc you can do combat training, similar to Niohs dojo area.
The only thing I’ll give ds2 tbh
I've always felt the nexus was the most peaceful of all. Majula is gorgeous, but eerie in a strange way.
@@faithful8803 Bonfire ascetics are pretty cool
@@MeesTW I think it's pretty intentional as DS2's story puts a lot of emphasis on people enjoying beautiful illusion of peace to run away from the scary truth of the world. Majula represents it pretty well.
I find majula drowzy. It has nothing to do with the mood of the souls saga. And you could say that's a good oxymoron, but I see it as a defect. In comparison DS3 Firelink Shrine is on another planet.
Majula is the goat
That theme is ingrained in my mind hahah
Tru
No way
The round table hold is actually located in the capital city. It’s not far off in the distance like how it shows on the map. The one we go to with the npcs is shrouded in mystery because we see the actual round table hold in leyendal but it’s empty and broken down. So is the one we visit an alternate reality ? A dream ? The future or past ? The hub in Elden ring actually is the most mysterious and interesting considering the lore.
Same goes for DS3 Firelink shrine and Hunter’s dream, both exist in real world but the Hub one is an alternate reality
Majula has the best track in all of their games and the best ocean in any video game. The ocean makes you feel like you're looking at the entire universe at once.
I think the reason the ocean looks so good is because they made it look more like a painting than a real ocean
LMAO
Drowzy. First time I stepped into it I was stunned, and not in the good way
Majula has a lot more calm and grace to it, so I feel it really helps to de-stress there after trouble in the main game or if you're frustrated. I know after some particular "co-op" DLC areas, I needed this music and atmosphere to not want to delete the game 🤣
It only makes you appreciate the hub more really
Roundtable hold is extremely cool. The arthurian theme of the hub alone makes it a hit. But what I love as much is the progression and the music, the music is always recomforting yet sad, and the more you progress in the story, the sadder the hub gets and the more sense the music makes.
Hunters Dream my favourite I think. For a game so unrelentingly twisted and dark, to be greeted with "Welcome Home, good hunter" was genuinely comforting and quite possibly the most warmly your character is spoken to in the whole series that I've played (Sekiro & DS3 on the to-do list). However DS1 Firelink also felt like home - the theme marked the point you felt safe. Losing access to it felt like losing that safety. They all have their charm though.
For Bloodborne I think that the Cathedral Ward is also worth mentioning due to it being the hub for most of the NPC’s. What I also love about Cathedral Ward is how it essentially connects to almost all areas of Bloodborne, like Firelink in Dark Souls 1
Firelink Shrine certainly gave me the more relief any time I found a secret shortcut back to it, but it always had that hint of danger ever present. You were back home, but not for long, you have to keep going. And every NPC there is so prickly, everyone on their own journeys, that it only feels like a rest stop before plunging back into the nightmare.
But Majula? It's so peaceful, it makes you want to stay there after a rough section of the game. Talking to everyone, getting more people to join the little town, gazing upon the sea...it actually felt like a home and not a base, a rare respite from the unforgiving world of Dangrleic.
(Also, I think it's the beach where the Kingdom Hearts 2's Twilight Town gang wanted to save up to go over summer vacation)
Round Table hold had so much potential when first introduced. I maybe went back 3-6 times after, just for the boss weapons.
Thankfully, It felt great not having to return to a lobby all the time i loved majula bc It was my first, but that started getting really boring at ds3 especially when doing quests
How did you only re visit 3-6 times? At least half of the quest lines involve you going there multiple times, plus it's where you go to upgrade your weapons and use bell bearings.
@@bombthing yeah, I don't get it too. Roundtable hold contains a lot of mandatory things to play the game. Weapon upgrades, merchants, almost all questlines, bell bearings. In one run you will revisit this place at least 100 times.
@@bombthing not everyone cares about doing the questlines, or the bell bearings. And as for upgrades and stuff you really don't need to come back for every weapon level. You can easily get through all of limgrave and liurnia with just a +3 you can forge at church of elleh. Besides upgrade material is so abundant you can jump 3-4 levels every time you visit anyway so no need to come back too often. I'm not saying I didn't visit the hub many a times, but I can perfectly see how one wouldn't.
@@brent8407huh? If you don’t care about the quest lines then you end up missing out on massive unexplored areas, unique weapons, items etc. what a dumb thing to say lol imagine forking up so much money for a game and only experiencing like 60% of the game. Stupid.
If I had to rank them it would probably be:
1. Majula
2. DS1 Firelink
3. Nexus
4. DS3 Firelink
5. Hunter's Dream
6. Roundtable Hold
7. Temple
I mostly agree with this one, although I would switch the Hunters dream with the nexus.
@@crummyclub9344 but that would ruin the list
Now rank every soulsborne cover art from worst to best
My ranking :
1 : Majula
2 : Nexus
3 : Hunter's dream
4 : DS1 Firelink shrine
5 : Round table hold
6 : DS3
7 : Sekiro
Majula's place is beautiful with the lightning and the OST.
As for Sekiro, coming back to that small place with also being kind of stressed to see if our savior died or not made it weird.
Nexus and hunters dream are also very relaxing!
Sometimes I boot up DS2 just to walk to Majula from the starting area.
Finally we have a topic where we can just collectively gush about Dark Souls 2.
It's the Nexus for me, love the archstone system, looks gorgeous in the remake and a friendly cast of characters. Well, except, Mephistopholes 😆
The game really should have had that final archstone. I wouldn't mind seeing the archstone setup coming back at all.
@@thebuddah1253 There's a mod being made called Dark Souls Archstones, check it out! Even if you don't play mods, the last preview they put out looks awesome.
@@GhostRiposte the problem is it follows Ds3 game engine, which is very dodge-roll simulator based :/
And yurt he wants to murder everyone.
@@giantdad2414 haha, good point, Yurt too lol... I usually yeet him off the platform in 3-2!
Very nice, I like to rank the hubs like this.
1. Majula (The Best)
2. Firelink Shrine DS1
3. Roundtable Hold
4. The Hunter's Dream
5. The Nexus
6. Firelink Shrine DS3
7. Sekiro Temple (The Worst)
This channel gonna blow up soon.
This ranking is perfect for me. Couldn't agree more!
I’m glad you enjoyed!
I have been binge watching all your top 10 videos recently, and we dissagree on a lot of stuff and i mean a lot of stuff. But this list is exactly the same as mine, and that took me by surprise 😂
Hey I love the video and love how even though this is so subjective people aren't being haters(from what I've seen)
When I die I want the DS3 Firelink Shrine music to play at my funeral.
good vid
Majula is literally the only reason I’m keep going back to dark souls 2
Majula is definitely a great social gathering, there's nothing wrong with that Majula hour's long gala.
It's a stretch, but I had to try.
Majula is without a doubt the best hub in the series. It's the only place in all of Souls that feels even remotely like a village. Oh, I know there are other villages, but they are filled with people who want to kill you (Mibu)! Majula feels like a safe haven, kinda like something out of a Zelda game. I'm thinking maybe Kakariko from Twilight Princess. Yes, there's decay, but it's still gorgeous and you have multiple survivors living out their lives, including a talking cat! Seriously, Majula should take the top spot for that alone. If there were any place in the Souls series I'd want to call home, it'd be Majula!
Def. Majula yeah. Theres so much to do, so much to detect. The peaceful music...awesome
I'm not a huge fan of Ds2 compared to the other games, but Majula is probably my favourite
Can you make a top for the best boss entrences? Like for example the way in which Mogh is introduced, or the incredible transition from beast clergyman to Malekith(hope Iwrote them right) or the fantastic Sauron-like entrence that Burnt Ivory King has?
The Nexus is still the best for me. NPC questlines that take place in the Nexus elevate it a bit for me in the rankings, so that'll have to be something you experience at some point. You also access the final boss through the hub like in Bloodborne.
Hunters dream is my least favourite.
It’s just the lack of things to do there. The only main thing you can do is talk to the doll, and the only secret to find is two dialogues from a sleeping Gehrman.
Do you need anything else?
Majula is outstanding
Majula is perfect, Dark Souls II even have a trophie for you to sending all npc's to the town and increase it's population.
Majula is by far the best imo
Its so serene and your friends go there its so lovely
I feel like you should have talked a little bit about the cathedral ward in blood-borne. It is a separate hub we're all the NPC's meet up after all
on design and presentation alone, nexus is top 2 for me. i love ds3 and elden ring's accessibility and not having to travel to 4 different places just to get essential items i need lol but the firelink shrine from ds1 might be my favorite just because of the home like feel especially for me after being stuck in the catacombs in my first playthrough.
I think the Roundtable hold was a missed opportunity. I would've rather it have been a mansion in the centre of The Lands Between that was connected to the various regions in different ways. It just feels lazy putting it in the middle of nowhere. It makes sense for FromSoft to do that and I am by no means calling it bad, but it had so much potential. The connectivity is what makes Firelink Shrine and Majula so great. The fact that 3 different areas are open to you at the start of Firelink provides so much replay ability, and with the master key, that adds another 3! Majula is just as special, being able to spot all the different locales from the coast gave a grand sense of scale that wasn't quenched until Elden Ring came out.
I think I like ds3's firelink the most. First of all I love the athmosphere of that place. It's really desperssing. For us it may seem peaceful and safe but for the firekeeper and the old lady selling you stuff it's an eternal prison. Finding the bell tower full of dead firekeepers was quite terrifying. The music is also great and I love how it changes to an even more depressing and dark after you give firekeeper her eyes. It almost feels like she and the entire building is angry at you and dissapointed with your choice. But the main reason why I love this place is that there is so much to do there. There are plenty of npc some of which live there and others are just passing by. There are so many quests that you advance there and so many little interactions like Andree giving you hawkwoods letter or ludleth spying on you. The round table is the only hub that feels just as alive but that place has imo way worse athmosphere
Majula is easily #1 for the reasons you stated. Sometimes, I start up the game just so I can listen to the soundtrack with the waves in the background while thinking about life past and present.
I have to rank it like that:
1. Hunter's Dream
2. Firelink Shrine DS1
3. Majula
4. Firelink Shrine DS3
5. Roundtable Hold
6. Dilapidated Temple
7. I havent played Demon's Souls yet but I will this year!
and here is why:
Dark Souls 1 was my first experience with Soulsborne ever. I know about Dark Souls 3 of course, but thanks to a friend I started with Dark Souls Remastered. It was a pain in the butt, but it was a memorable pain in the butt and the Firelink Shrine did take a huge part in this, because the whole game felt like it was just another way back to Firelink, it's the one and only Hub that truly felt like home.
But why is the Hunter's Dream above that then? Well, simply because the asthetics of it are so mezmerizing. As you already said, the final boss right there, and it being the only guy I have trusted my whole run through! It definitely has it down sides, like being less home-like because it's apart from the rest of the world, but honestly ... I can forgive that one. The music is my favorite hub-theme in all of Soulsborne (yes, even Majula THERE I SAID IT!) it's calming and relaxing after being in this world full of brutal and disgusting creatures, the view to those mysterious trunks in the distance, the white flowers all over the shop, the sudden burning of the workshop after defeating the Wet Nurse, the gravestones, .... aaahh I could go on and on ...
But in the end, I would say none of the hub areas are bad and none of the hub areas is perfect, but they all have their charm in their own ways and thats what counts.
Enough of me, thanks for reading Good Hunters, Chosen Undeads, Bearers of the Curse, Ashen Ones, Tarnished, Shinobis and Slayers of Demons!
I found your channel some weeks ago. Really good videos like them a lot. And you're cute ♥
Hunters Dream over OG Firelink shrine is insane. But I’ve seen enough of these videos to know a bloodborne fanboy when I see one
I think it's funny that most people hate DS2, but Majula is universally loved as either the best or among the best hubs in the series
I died so many times fighting the katana guy, and i thought the entrance to firelink was a boss fight so i didnt go in until i beat katana dude
Yayy my comment was made into a video :D
I've never played ds1 so my opinion might change, but I love the roundtable hold because of how much it changes throughout the game and the intricacies of it
Fire link shrines music in dark souls 1 always causes me to tear up a little. I wish I could experience all these games for the first time all over again.
Also I think they should try not giving the player a fast travel at first again. Even though it was tedious at first. It made the first half of the game so memorable and made finding the lord vessel that much more rewarding
I was wondering, what does "NightWalk" from your username mean? Also, why is it "NightWalk 2" where did the first Nightwalk go?
Majula is legitimately the best area in ds2 for me
It's one of my favorite areas in the entire series
i went to roundtable hold so many times in my og run and i still sometimes get mixed up which side to run to hewg
I didn’t realise before but it’s actually really difficult to rank the hub areas, they’re all pretty great. I think the Nexus will always be my personal favourite tho
1) The Hunter's Dream
2) Firelink Shrine (DS1)
3) Majula
4) The Nexus
5) Firelink Shrine (DS3)
6) Roundtable Hold
7) Dilapidated Temple
"and you got a cat" and at least this time it is actually cute. The DS1 cat (The forest covenant one) looks like the cat from Alice in Wonderland got hit by a truck and did drugs
There is more to the nexus. There is a whole set of other floors, which contain tons of player data, and it gradually fills up with characters like the best hubs in the series do. Not to mention it is actually important, the round table hold for example wasn’t that important, but the nexus is extremely practical. Lastly the final boss takes place there, which adds a lot to its importance, it might just be my favorite hub.
Roundtable hold absolutely was important lmao.
You needed to go to Roundtable for weapon upgrades, boss weapons and gear, bell bearing shops with the twin maidens, plus there were like half a dozen quest lines that started or took place in Roundtable hold
Hunter's Dream is kinda similar to Sekiro, because it get's split in two: the Dream and the Cathedral Ward
I prefer isolated hubs, I'll take roundtable hold or ds3 firelink over ds1 firelink any day. Majula is still cool though
I kinda get you, while in a way it is cool to open a shortcut back to DS1 Firelink, the whole thing about longer endurance runs is kind of annoying at time, simply because it punishes dying far more than other souls games. Specially in areas like Blighttown, which are already annoying to begin with.
Do favorite weapons from each of the soulsborne games. Like:
elden ring: bolt of gransax
ds3: friede's scythe
ds2: ivory king gs
ds1: quelaag furysword
bb: holy moonlight sword
7. Dilapidated Temple
6. Fire Link Shrine DS3
5. Nexus
4. Roundtable Hold
3. Hunters Dream
2. Fire Link Shrine DS1
1. Majula
Majula, cause everytime you return it feels like you went on a long journey
6 - Round Table
5 - Hunter's Dream
4 - Nexus
3 - Ds3 Firelink Shrine
2 - Majula
1- Firelink Shrine from Ds1 :)
(I havent played Sekiro yet)
My ranking would be
1. Majula
2. Nexus
3. Firelink shrine (DS1)
4. Round table hold
5. Hunters dream
6. Dilapidated temple
7. Firelink shrine (DS3)
Majula and nexus bring an inexplicable sense of calm and melancholy that overwhelms me and lives in my mind completely rent free. I’ve put on the hub themes on loop countless times and have had both as desktop backgrounds lmao firelink shrine is the second closest to capturing that magic but just doesn’t quite reach the same level. I would say primarily due to the visual design not being quite as strong. Round table hold is a tough one because of the length of ER it doesn’t stay as interesting consistently throughout the game. I absolutely adore the characters present and I think master hewg is the best blacksmith besides ds1 Andre. Still a great hub with a distinct visual design! Hunter’s dream and dilapidated temple are two hubs with wonderful visual design but just don’t have much happening throughout the game. DS3 is my least favorite due to aesthetic preferences, I think DS3 has the worst color palette of all the games and the hub isn’t excluded. I like unlocking the door and exploring around firelink, the rotating cast of npcs and the skeleton making boss weapons is hilarious and thematically appropriate. Unfortunately the issues I have with DS3 as a whole carry over to the hub which can be summarized as a weak cohesive/focused theme imo
I have a similar list i would just swap ds1 firelink and hunter dream, and would swap ds3 firelink over roundtable like just knowing your back in the same world as in ds1 gave me nostalgia
Nexus is way too low imo. Maybe the fact that I’ve only played the remake affects my opinion but man the Nexus is beautiful. It’s extensive, has great music, a bunch of NPCs that are all really useful and it’s so grand.
Seems quite impossible for me to rank these. I adore the music in DS3 and Bloodborne, Majula is gorgeous, Roundtable and Nexus are full of secrets and majesty, Sekiro has Sculptor and Kuro, and Firelink Shrine is like coming home...
Majula is PERFECT.
It has peaceful music, it leads to every Old one and it has my waifu-
And it is the only place without enemy spam.
Majula and the Nexus are the best ones
1. Majula and the Nexus
3. Hunters Dream and Dilapidated Temple
5. DS1 Firelink Shrine
6. Roundtable Hold and DS3(Firelink Shrine)
Can you rank the armor sets that are the face of each game? Like raging wolf for elden ring, elite knight for ds1, etc.

I 100%agree with your rankings. You literally had the exact rankings I made in my head after reading the title of the video. Majula definitely the best. And by far the best music while your there. Really makes it feel like a serene home. Ds2 mamight be the worst out of the three but hands down best hub. (I'm not saying it's a bad game. I actually enjoy it a lot. Also, I promise you I'm subscribed and have been since your boss ranking series last year. 😅 Here's hoping the rest of the watchers join in and sub!
I know, it actually lets me see who is subscribed on my end :D (if they have their subscriptions public)
All had good explanations as to why they were placed except for the hunter's dream. Seems that it's only the aesthetic that got it into 2 moreso than anything else it had.
Weird nitpick possibly but one of my least favorite aspects about some of the hubs is where they're symmetrical. DS3 Firelink Shrine, Nexus, and to an extent the Roundtable Hold. That circular, symmetrical layout makes them extremely confusing to navigate for new players due to the lack of landmarks and makes them feel a little too perfect and lifeless for me. Roundtable Hold isn't actually symmetrical, but again that circular nature makes it confusing to navigate and the whole thing feels claustrophobic.
Majula on the other hand, is a masterpiece, singlehandedly held back by the fact that the NPCs there are incredibly static, rarely gaining any new dialogue as the game progresses. Feels like the hub is filled with cardboard cutouts of characters rather than real ones.
I think if DS2 had more fleshed out NPCs like some of the other hubs, and an interconnected world with no warping like DS1, it would be one of my favourite locations in all of gaming.
The original Firelink Shrine will always take the prize for me. It was one of the few hubs where I never felt forced to go there. I always wanted to. I didn't have to go there to level up every hour of gameplay. I would end up there naturally every time I finished a new segment of the game. And it was always such an amazing and welcoming feeling getting back.
Wholeheartedly agree with Majula, but what's funny is agree with nothing else lol. But that's the glory of seeing everyone's perspectives

6)Roundtable Hold

SoulsBorne art design ranked from worst to best
next video: best npc in every souls game
I would count cathedralward as a HUD tbh
Top ten boss arenas
I have to go with the Nexus. I love the scale, the dream-like serene atmosphere, the music and the echo from NPCs when they speak that contribute to that atmosphere.
Every hub area post Bloodborne has been rather unremarkable. Even Hunter's Dream, as beautiful as it is visually and auditorily, feels barren and lacking in content. It pales in comparison to the hub areas that came before it.
Love how basically the entire comment section collectively agrees to put Majula on top
Let's go, DS2 squad! Our belief in Majula supremacy will never be shaken! Ever!
1. DS1 Firelink BY FAR
2. Majula
3. Nexus
4. Hunter's Dream
5. DS3 Firelink
6. Roundtable Hold
7. Temple
The fact my man put roundtable hold above the nexus and Firelink shrine
There's nothing wrong with that
@@cardmossdn8058 There absolutely is
@@crummyclub9344 Why is that
@@cardmossdn8058 Roundtable holds atmosphere isnt very engrossing, and the area itself is very bland. The npcs that populate the area aren't very interesting, save a collect few. The music is subpar compared to Firelink and the nexus. It's just a worse hub area than both. I guess you could make a case for it being better than Ds3s Firelink shrine, but the nexus is so incredibly unique and well put together, it's not even close.
@@crummyclub9344 That is one of the strangest opinions I have ever heard. Atmosphere is bland? How the hell do you figure that? It's this sacred gathering place of tarnished detached from the depravity of the main world, it has super rich, holy atmosphere that's unlike anything else in the game.
The NPCS are just as fantastic as previous games, there are great characters and quests like fia, dung eater, diallos, rogier, nepheli, hewg.
The music is definitely NOT subpar it, perfectly fits the intended atmosphere. It's a great piece.
I don't think it's better than the nexus either, I would put it below the nexus, majula, and DS1 firelink.
