I’ve seen ms. W bring you lunch in several videos so idk about the whole you don’t take lunch break thing. None the less awesome to watch this project come to life
I'm glad someone said it
I bet Mrs. W brought him something to eat he doesn't consider "lunch"
Trying to act like he is not a spoiled west coaster but the proof is in the videos
He is just being polite. Her womanly instincts are to feed her brood, it's in one's best interest not to upset their delicate emotions by declining the offer. He probably gives the sandwiches to the cat or the manservant.
Maybe he’s in the doghouse right now 😂
This is awesome. Can’t wait for the next episode. This is what I would like to do at this stage of my life. I’m 58 years old. My son is 34 and works with me. 2nd son is. in the Navy for 10 years serving our country. My daughter lives near Green Bay. This is my dream. I’m so thankful you’re doing this can’t wait for the next video. Let’s Go Log cabin, wo wo wo Wo. wo woo 😊
After careful consideration, I've decided I don't like the cabin that close to the road so I'm gonna need you to go ahead and move it back at least 100 yards. If you could get that done as soon as possible that would be great. Thanks
I'm just getting a little deja vu. I found your channel when you were building the tree house for Jack. Because we were building a tree house on our property in Northern California. Now Jack is all grown up and here I am watching another house build. Been loving your channel for years. So happy to see how the family has grown and that you keep doing amazing content.
Us Gen-Xers are wired differently. Have to say your son seems pretty squared away...good job on you and Mrs. W! Enjoying the series.
Cody I've NEVER seen a log cabin with a concrete foundation. This is an extreme build with underground power and water. I cant wait to see it finished.
Wranglerstar listening to Laufey, I've seen it all. She has an amazing voice.
I never eat breakfast - makes me even hungrier when i do. If i eat too much at lunch I feel lethargic in the afternoon. I’m with you, it’s better to wait until later after work. Then you can relax and really chow down - because you’ve earned it.
My favourite bit of clicking on a Wranglestar video is being called Beloved
I’m waiting for the day when I’m in an airport or just somewhere and I walk up from behind and there will be Mr Cody and to which I say “hello beloved” and he turns around, smiles and shakes my hand!
Don’t forget to seal that foundation. Great work! Love to see these cozy cabin videos.
What product do you recommend for this?
Being closer to 40 than not, I find it interesting working in the labor field. There are plenty of salty bitter dogs around. But I’m quite pleased to see the younger men coming in. They’re willing to work but understand their value. Should be good for our future hard workers.
Nice to see the crew semi autonomous, you gave the instruction for years, now you get to enjoy observing their execution and discussing the performance “after action” so to speak. Nice job on the project by all!
Nice job guys.
Heavy equipment operator is talented, "drizzling" that gravel over by Jack.
Very nice.
I just realised I have watched you from the beginning jack was little now I have a 7 year old doing all the stuff dad does. He grades the road with my quad or his just funny to see how time flys. by the way out water is so high in Finland at least 3 ft higher in the lake. Thanks for the last 14 years or so.
Have to say that I felt the "fizz" when I saw this video drop so early in the day. Looking forward to more cozy cabin content!
Don’t have to lie to look so tough Mr gen X, I see Mrs W bring you lunch all the time.
This video, was a ton a fun to watch. Thanks
I was born in 1952. I don't know anyone in my generation who didn't take time from the work day to have lunch.
Ive spent the last 3 years educating myself on the history of Labor and the fight that we as workers have had to go through to secure things as simple as a weekend off or an 8 hour work day or a decent amount of off time to rest during the work day. People blead and died for those things. I intend to take every second workers across the generations have fought for for myself.
Ah the ol French Drain, very good East Coast invention lol
Cody! These are the Wranglerstar videos your audience likes to see. Hooah!
What's this about not taking lunch??? We've seen videos of Missus W bringing you a sandwich and chips. I believe kettle cooked salt and vinegar are your favorites if memory serves....?
I can’t control what she does nor do. I want to left my own devices. I will skip it.
I find this response very confusing. None the less thanks for the video !!!
I agree on the lunch break philosophy. Some people need the recharge. But for me. I prefer to graze throughout the day and keep the momentum
Love this cozy cabin series.
Have you considered getting an update on The Old Homestead for nostalgia sake?
Wow things are coming along nicely! Great work gentlemen!
Funny you mention lunch. I'm a year younger than you, so also Gen-X. When we worked with dad, if it was going to be away from the house, mom packed us a lunch. A bread bag full of sandwiches (lunch meat and cheese, egg salad, and peanut butter and honey, one of each for my brother, dad, and I) and some bbq chips. If dad was in a good mood when we were fueling up, he'd get us each a Hostess pie for dessert (peach was his favorite). When we went woodcutting was the best because we were up in the forest and dad liked to go early. So we'd often have our load of wood by 11 am or so. Then we'd get back down and find a nice shaded spot by a creek to eat. Very enjoyable way to get your noon meal. After lunch, we drove home, unloaded, and chopped wood until dinner. We lived in the hot part of Idaho, so that cool lunch up in the tree zone before going back to the heat for chopping was very appreciated.
no lunch.. unless the TradCon brings it to you :) What a wonderful wife you've got! What a LEGENDARY man you are!
I never used to eat lunches while I was working either. We used to eat breaky & dinner & that was it.
So happy to see Mrs.Pants happy and healthy.
Thank you Cody! Loving this series! Good to see everyone working hard
I like your swing-up handrail whatsit, to aid climbing up or down from the pickup bed. Cool idea, and a good safety feature, especially for us older folks. Keep the videos coming, friend, they're great.
my grandpa would have loved this content RIP earlier this year. he used to build log cabins for awhile as well as his home of 40 years.
My dyslexia was in full effect because I started to read this as rage against the log cabin as though it was a reference to a band. Very excited to dig into this video it hasn't even started yet and here I am commenting.
I am really liking this series. I run a 305.5 mini and one thing that helps with the cat stuff is the pins on the bucket are the same so you can turn the bucket around and use it like a shovel for back filling against the foundation with the stone. Looks like a fun project to take on
Glad to see the perimeter drain installed. So important to keep foundation dry.
Moving along quickly! Looking good, gents!
G'day Cody, an especially good series to show a great range of aspects in a "relatively" small build mate.
Love the services, foundations and drainage for the application so far. Look forward to the rest.
Btw; I didnt notice an outside door to access the crawl/storage space, ... inside trapdoor maybe ?
Then you can knock out the vents and stay low to shoot at the marauders, plenty good field of fire all round by the looks of it., I was was gonna say "only jok'n", ......... though yeah, nearly forgot ........ you're in America ; )
Cheers Duke.
P.S. yep, concur, hard not to micro-manage the younger workforce, but ultimately, the correct strategy is to leave 'em alone, ......for those beyond the basics.. Come back later, either It'll be all good, or grab 'em before it potentially goes pear shaped. Yeah, not easy with your other tasks, .... but timing .......... is the essence of a good, father, mentor, employer IMO........ but dont start me on husband, LOL.
Yes, like you, a good breakie/brunch and dinner was/is always enough, ..... and there is some science to support that too.
In fact, not sure where 3 meals a day actually came from ........ "luncheon" must have been a "well to do" pommie marketing thing, ....... along with tea and scones, as an afternoon break, to go with it ; )
In fairness, as purely a body fuel source, at least it doesn't constitute a midday, half-day or all-day siesta ; )
P.P.S. Oh yeah, aplogies for the saga comment, but you're soooooo right Cody. Unless you a have a "very specific" profession in mind, tens of thousands of bucks per year + ones time attending classes and study can end in "UBSE", (Uni Bull Sh*t Economy).
I've known quite a few, (I'd actually say the majority of those I know,) that have done that and now work'n better paid "outdoor" or building industry type jobs ..... and happier for it. And furthermore there's a shipload of very well paid "niche" positions too, anything from technical sales to producing text books/online literature, running classes themselves, logistics support of such, etc etc. Bottom line, ..... think outside the square, ....... at the very least, .... make it a rectangle, ... for that you know/love ; )
TJI joists seem to be very bouncy, they are strong enough but have deflection. Heavy walkers can bounce the whole floor, it's especially amplified if you have an island in the middle of the floor, the whole assembly can shake. Plenty of bridging/blocking or x braces between the joists is a good idea.
You guys have wonderful looking dirt! I can smell it through the screen, I bet you can grow a lot there
I saw that also so jealous
Very cool seeing 3 generations there working. I'm a boomer and when I do work with my sons and grandsons they are the same way. Pawpaw, just give us the tools and materials and general directions and then stand by and "hold my beer." We have a much more harmonious outcome. Good progress on the build and I look forward to seeing the rest of it all come together.
Happiness is like a butterfly: the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.
-J. Richard Lessor
There's more power in this butterfly than what men try to grasp, for it can not be felt or seen like this butterfly 🦋
I used to teach guys the way I was taught. I would always listen to any suggestions to improve the task, then adopt the suggestion or reject it (and explain why) based on past experience.
I've been to the top of that "Mt Fuji". Beautiful area.
Lunch break, never heard of it either. Cant wait to see the next episode.
GR8 series 😊
That lunch story really hit home with me, I hated it at the time but miss it now.
Looks like too much fun!
Really like the sock pipe… you can always pickup good tips from different countries construction methods. Pipe in pipe underfloor drains is Belgium standard, UK electrical methods etc. sock pipe is technically a French drain as well….. which will probably give up pretty quickly 🫢
I’ve never heard them called Cobra Pliers before. We call them multigrips in Australia.
haha I normally smoke my lunch by 10:00AM!
Plain AWESOMENESS!
Yes! So excited for this build!
before you close all the trenches have you thught about a fiber connection between all the buildings? will enable you to share internet and camera systaems and such and maybe even a copper closed loop phone system like old military ones
I'm pretty sure Cody uses starlink
@@Theexsquaddie. Even more reason to extend the network
Amazing how different generations do different things. I'm old school because I was top on my father who grew up in the '50s. But my kids who are in their teens and twenties don't quite understand the struggle. Queen flood irri
Personally I think Kyles cabin build is much more nostalgic. Im sure this will be all up to spec for codes but imho his looks like a true log cabin.
I can’t eat lunch it makes me sluggish and I don’t want to do anything after I eat lol so I am like you I eat when I get home I keep plenty of drinks and maybe a little beef jerky or something like that if I’m real hungry.
Dang, this is so cool
I see Jack is down there practicing his wildland fire skills. Fire season is right around the corner, good job being ready young man. Lol
Foundation vents...I see you are using Grand Dad's Era building science
His neighbors watching him through the blinds im sure 😂😂
Coming along nicely. Did you ever show us the planning phase (blueprints), or are you just winging it? 😅
Dont eat lunch either. My dad always sounded like John Wayne on a cattle drive..."Daylights burning". Eat when you get home on your time not on mine
Wow Proho is a Luafey fan! 🤘
splendid
Nice - I love it when a plan comes together Cody : PRO HO 4 * General :)
❤💯🙏
awesome video, always good information, the project is coming along just fine
"Will you make me lunch?"
(Chauncy the gardner in movie "Being There")
No access in the foundation to be able to get into the crawlspace? Lots of storage there. And any plumbing/electrical repairs would be easier.
I think he mentioned in an earlier video there will be a trap door in floor, with a short folding stairway, to get into the crawl space.
There's something about an incredibly straight trench line that gives me the fizz
Great video!
I was remembering the other day about the bridge you two made, how do you think it's holding up?
That's some rich soil you've got.
Your correct, who needs to eat anyway.
So glad to see Lucy around! How is heart racer?
I’m not sure if you’re sharing costs but it would be nice to know a ballpark on that foundation. Looks good.
Let me know when you would like to discuss the HVAC system...would love to be a part of this build!
God Bless...
Stopping for lunch always slows me down, so I don’t do it often.
Is your video brightness down too low for outdoor roll? Imagine you're doing post on a high nit monitor? Great content as always.
I never really liked to eat while I’m working. I just didn’t want to feel sluggish after eating.
I see Mr. Wranglerstar stumbled upon Laufey. Good stuff my man. She is bridging that Boomer/Millenial gap you are describing there. Haha
Great looking dirt...is footing deep enough for your cold winters ??
Foundation looks good ...
BTW...FYI...No sitting on the job...just looks bad...🫢...🖖
Micromanaging is counterproductive regardless of age difference.
14:05 I love Laufey's music
Is that your dog? I've seen the shop cat (momma kitty) often, never seen you have a dog before, I think they're just as important to a homestead as any power equipment you own. Everything from companionship to security to help with the livestock.
Looks awesome. How did you decide on the build location?
Quite bussin'
@wranglerstar how to you plan to access the crawl space in the future?
could it be closer to the road?
Do I see a gravel floor in the crawlspace area? Is that your finished floor? East coast men learned to place down heavy plastic vapor barrier, then pour 1-2" of concrete over floor area to prevent moisture from wicking up into the crawlspace area to prevent mold/mildew in crawlspace. Finally seal the floor to the footer with proper sealant to make a moisture proof, mold proof crawl space. Despite having ventilation, you will still have moisture issues which transfers to lumber/insulation issues of floor over crawlspace.
Your gravel backfill should be clean and at least 20mm or larger and no fines or it will block up eventually. Where is the foam insulation around the underground blue water feed pipe to stop deep freezing in winter ?
Is there a flood plane ordnance there that you cant build closer inside the property?
I want to come live with you! I'll pay for an RV spot
Is ProHo going to lay down a thick mil plastic on the crawlspace floor before decking?
What happened to the 2nd set of forms and concrete pour to complete the foundation?
Day 30 of asking wranglerstar to bring back the Amazon series
Natural gas the vents are at the top and propane the vents are at the bottom. So if the foundation is below grade with propane the you run pipes inside down to the bottom of the subgrade from the vents above to evacuate the ground air first as the wind blows across the foundation. Now here is positive note for being helpful and now criticizing.
How are you going to get into the crawl space? I don’t see a crawl though spot.
While it is still easy...encapsulate that crawl space.
Looking great Cody! You're very lucky to have your own excavator instead of paying someone else to do all the work for you! Jack has become a fine young man with an amazing work ethic! Looking forward to more cabin content
Remember....... with french drain, 1 inch of drop for every 100 inches of run.
Are you running an empty conduit for telco/ fiber?
