Baby Ferrets 2 weeks old

- Baby ferrets (kits) of my 1st litter this year. Now at 2 weeks old. Still blind and deaf and dependant on mum. I have now started to handle them. There is 8 in total with 5 hobs (boys) and 3 Jills (girls). all doing great including mum.

I have two, one is named Attila. They are both "fixed" but since these little cuties have such massive litters (and incredibly mischievous, nosey/curious and top predators) I always thought it would be great to name a pregnant one "Attila" and once they're born she will have her horde of chaos!!!

BreeKayBe I keep hearing Marshall’s everywhere, what store is that? I work at a small family owned pet store. We have super happy and healthy ferrets with full life spans. Only ever have one cage of them, but they’re all long lived. We get them as babies, after they’re weaned, and handle them and play with them everyday so they’re super friendly. If you look up pet shops I’m sure somewhere around you there’ll be a family owned or smaller pet shop or two, may be a few hours away but they’re worth it! Ours is in Iowa. I know how difficult it is to find good ferrets. I know petco sells them but I’d never get them from there. A lot of times if you look of craigslist there will be people selling their ferrets and all supplies for cheap, since they don’t have time to let them run. I’d suggest looking for shops or looking through your Craigslist! Only problem with buying them at shops is they’re expensive. Say you buy a cage, usually 150-300$, then 160$ per ferret, it’d be over 500$ by the time you’re done. I’m trying to buy the four babies we have now and I’m already facing 1000$...
@@shayrose7705 Marshall is NOT a store. They're a ferret mill. They breed ferrets for medical research. On the side, they provide pet stores with ferrets

Very cute. Pretty much all ferrets in the U.S. pet trade must be spayed or neutered and de-scented before they can be sold so we don't really have small breeders here, only large mill breeders as far as I know :^(

Descenting a ferret doesn't actually do anything to their natural body odour. The only thing it will do is take away their ability to let off a 'poof' when frightened. Personally, I don't think the actual ferret smells, just their poop and pee smell (like with any other animal.) But it really depends on how well you tolerate a musky scent...

I'm sure sure about the shredded paper, it can cut their skin and poke eyes and all but other than that, the 20 people who disliked this video can take a leap lmao....a couple soft blankies and/or even old shirts and socks (that are also clean) would work better than that paper
I have 5 ferrets too and they were so cute when they were babies, best thing about ferrets is they don't lose their cuteness
Ive used shredded paper for as long as I've had ferrets. Never had a kit or ferret with cut skin or its eyes poked out from the paper. Blankets and old clothing will need to be removed and washed before being put back in the nest. Which is a timely job and will lead to further disruption. With shredded newspaper I can remove and replace with clean in a matter of mintues.
All my ferrets have lived long and healthly lives.

Lil kiwi you don't have to buy another, but they are very social animals and get bored if they are left on their own in a hutch all day. So it sometimes better to keep them in pairs or more so they can interact with other. It all depends on how and where you keep them.
Kawaii Kiwi yes get two!!! I never suggest just getting one. They’re extremely social. I work in a family owned pet store and one time a guy came in and bought just one ferret, felt so bad for the little guy. We had two ferrets in a cage and they’re super playful, got two more baby ferrets and put them right in to see how they’d react, they didn’t even need an introduction, they all started playing and cuddling together! They love having playmates.
