I was the same way before, thinking wrong about the condition of being rich. It brought much stress into my life. It was not until I learned, after some soul searching, that saving money is time in the bank. True richness, as you have so transparently explained, is really a matter of definitions.
Thanks for sharing. It really puts a perspective on things. I wish more people thought this way instead of aiming constantly for more money and comparing materialistic goods.

scooby1961 Well then, when can we expect the 'How To Get Rich' video, because I learned a lot in this one.
1) View money as time, and build a bank account of time.
2) Saving up to buy something that will last a lifetime is cheaper than buying something cheap and having to replace it over and over.
3) Keep a low economical footprint (examples: eating out once a month, packing lunches, etc).
4) If I'm buying a luxury, attempt to make it into an 'affordable, calculated luxury'.

My friends always ask me how I have so much money in the bank being so young and working minimum wage, and I always tell them "everything I buy I compare it to if its worth my time working for". So usually I'm like.. yeah that item isn't worth 10 hours of my life, so I'm not going to get it. Thusly I just don't have much stuff, because it isn't worth it to me.

Hi Scooby. I'm 48 and took up inline skating last year. Since then I have absolutely fallen in love with it,even after all the injuries!
(You can see a short video made this Saturday in my local park as an idea of how I have progressed on my channel😊)
On Saturday I was asked to teach a child and was not sure if I would but today I was approached again by another Mum wanting me to teach. I then half hour later watched this video just after I'd decided to do teach them.

SuperBizalz I'm not sure how old you are or the position you are in but there is always time to build wealth. I'm going to keep investing till the day I die. Just keep in mind that investing is a snowball effect and once you hit that magic number for you then its not going to matter pass that point. Also, you will never be rich off of income from a job. Building passive income is probably the most important thing.
This is such a great video. I showed it to my son who is struggling with understanding about what makes someone "rich" We've watched your videos for sometime so it was great to be able to show him someone other than his dad who has the same message.

There's so much about this video that I like!! I love how honest Scooby is and I love his definition of, "rich."
MutR I think you are mistaking money and value, money and wealth. Money is just a tool and measurement that makes transfer of wealth more manageable. You can not run out of money, same way you can not run out of "meters". If you build a house, you would not stop and say "OK we are out of meters and centimeters". You can run out of brick, but brick is something you can make from soil and there is plenty of soil out there! It is just a question if you are going to dig it out yourself, or ask someone to do it. But that someone might want something in return, and instead of carrying around cows, boats and baskets of fruit - we as a society decided to use easier way of exchange - imperfect as it is.
MutR No it is not. You are mixing things up again. History is much older than dollar, and this is not my theory.
MutR You are just making assumptions and acting in bad manner. There are many books talking about subject of wealth, currency and economy. You are confusing wealth and money and I am trying to give you examples of why you should try to look from different perspective. You can watch this documentary for some brief info: watch?v=DyV0OfU3-FU It is called Hidden Secrets of Money by Mike Maloney. First episode talks about difference between money and currency etc.
MutR Important books are written on this subject and if someone like Benjamin Franklin writes about similar things that Scooby mentions one might just pay a bit of attention to what the man has to say. But you clearly know everything, fast to judge a book by its cover!

I want to thank you for all the helpful stuff that you put on youtube. This video I found especially really enlightening and educative. I also watched your "Is Scooby Gay" video, not because I didn't know and wanted to find out (I already knew) but because I knew that you will be saying more educative stuff. You wrote on the comments that you wouldn't be making a "How to get rich video" if the gay video got more views than the rich video...and unfortunately it did get more views, BUT I want to let you know that most of the viewers watch your videos to educate themselves and they are the constant... the extra 20.000 viewers watched the video because of the buzzword "Gay".
I don't think it would be rational of you to stop caring for your normal viewers just because you are mad at guys who don't have a clue and think being gay is that important. Got lots more that I wanna say but don't wanna waste your time.

Scooby - I can tell you why people want to know why you're rich.
Because you're a role model for a lot of us.. you inspire us and helped us in so many ways..
And since people tend to want to know more about their role models, they also want to know about your wealth..
But not exclusively that.. Just all your ways in general.
For example.. Schwarzenegger in BB is some kind of role model as well.. So people do research on his workout plans, his nutrition, his cardio.. everything!
At least that's why I'm always keen to know a little more about you..
Be it a recipe, your opinion or your money status.
But also: It's absolutely perfect for me if you don't want to share anything except workout tips. But you don't. And that's what makes you more "human" so to say.. And not just a random instructor on my screen.
I hope you see where I'm trying to go here..

Im not a body builder, or exactly healthy or at the minute im not even remotely fit after a long time of training but i get a lot of inspiration from these videos and when i need a motivation boost i give one a watch and it pushes me through what ever training i have that day or even pushes me to eat correctly no matter how horrible some of the stuff taste haha. Thanks for the videos, i enjoy them and keep up the good work
