I saw this tour in Boston. If I remember, you were injured and in a cast, so there was another drummer. Jimmy Page played the night before at the same venue.
Not only that, but he is such a bloody nice person as well. So down to earth. Not "look at me, I'm a great star", but a normal ordinary human being who enjoys a game of darts down at his local pub, and who treats others with respect. Also he is extremely intelligent and cultured, but always with modesty and good manners.
@@mfjdv2020 I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Plant in Southern Oregon. He played with the Shapeshifters at the Britt festival. Gracious gracious man. they were doing their sound check in the afternoon and he saw us watching and came over and spoke with us. My wife almost fainted. She loved that guy so much. I miss her so . That was a special day.❤
Personally speaking I wasn't nervous. I'd always wanted to play The Gardens so I was more excited really. We were very confident and in the midst of a very successful tour so it was just another gig really. This helped me block out the fact that it was being relayed live around the World to an audience of millions!
Speaks highly. If I had been there playing or even on tech support, there would have been a lot of that there Rum of yours being drunk before and afterwards by yours truly! Excellent job!
@@golden_ninja_trout - He's something else. I've known Doug since he was 18 and we used to a lot of session work together as well as being in bands with him. Amazing guitarist.
Greatest front man ever.....for the greatest rock band ever......the voice is unlike no other! Robert has more Swag in his small toe than most frontmen have in their whole body!
He was 41 when he made Now and Zen. Most musicians back then over 35 - bye. He will always be beautiful on so many levels and its not just a physical beauty.
Ozzy is 74 now and still sigs like 41. They have only 3 month difference with Robert Plant that is my favourite of all times. Last time i herd him sing it was about 5 years ago at the Round House, Camden, London and it was fantastic as usual. But yeah, there are more that still sing like they are young.
Has anyone noticed that he's gotten older, he's gotten better.. OMG... God's work at it's best. Funny people used to think that we were related....LMAO maybe it was the hair.
I had a nice opportunity to watch Doug Boyle in his extraordinaire guitar solos in a tour with Caravan, when Caravan was here in Rio (Brazil). He is maybe the most ecletic guitar player in the world, and probably one of the best.
I can't get enough of this song. I love it. I have been listening to all of Robert Plants post Zeppelin material today. I have to say much of it is very good. What a talent !
"Now And Zen" and "Manic Nirvana" are absolutely phenomenal and by far two of Robert's best solo studio long plays, tours, and projects outside of the Mothership. :)
@@mickwarnie8707 Those first two studio long players consist of songs that are completely disjointed and unlistenable except for his two classics, "Big Log", and "In The Mood".
I accidentally played this song (the original studio version that is) after learning one of my classmates in high school the following year died in a boat accident after having been drunk! :0
My British ancestors would have loved this in the 1600's late to their 1700's in sailings. They gave so much of themselves back them. So much easier them these folks endured by far in today. Not a clue!
Robert Plant had a fantastic solo career he seems so happy and in top form. I went to many of his solo shows and the short reunion tour with Jimmy Page. I went to my first Robert Plant solo concert in 1983 in Hartford CT. It was fantastic Robert brought the house down,Did 3 encores his voice and energy were amazing, all solo songs no Zeppelin. I wish he would go back to writing great songs he must get tired of doing the Zeppelin songs. I loved Led Zeppelin but hope Robert continues to say no to any Led Zeppelin reunion. He still sounds great would like to hear some more new songs from the GOLDEN GOD OF ROCK BEST LEAD AND SOLO SINGER OF ALL TIMES KEEP ROCKING ROBERT.
I love Robert's solo songs, have two of his early albums Pictures at Eleven and Principle of Moments. I have to say here that I really prefer these solo albums to anything he did with Led Zeppelin although back in the late 60s and the 70s I was a huge fan of Zeppelin. Robert's style has matured and become more profound since he went solo.
Front man for the greatest rock band of all time . And he still has it today. I wish they would do one last tour for bohman let his son close the last chapter for the gods of rock.
Armanelgtron wow.....different perspective. I thought the 2007 concert was superb...at least the documentary of it was.....tight, polished. Plant did an excellent job....taking into consideration he was 59 by then...not 25 or even 32....and Page nailed it. Not the same, I know....but bit of a disaster? Really? Those that attended the concert seem to have disagreed with you,....
Oddly enough, this song was on our lunchroom jukebox in HS. I played it every day that I could, sometimes repeatedly. It just resonated with me then at 18 and still does twenty years later. I wish every song could touch me this wa
Plant surounds himself with some of the best talent in the business, and I am sure a great group of guys. Great musicians all the way around, top to bottom. Followed this tour for a while in the US, I believe Chris was playing Tama drums at the time, the best drums ever made...imho. Great song, great album, thanks for posting.
He's so on the top of his game here...I saw him and the boys in 1970 in Milwaukee with the Super Troopers shining on them. It was more than Disney...I'll never forget what I saw!
I got hooked on Plant's vocal style listening to Zeppelin particularly when he was younger when he was still able to hit and sustain all those incredible notes and had such a dynamic vocal range. I always thought there was a noticeable difference in the overall quality of his voice by the time Presence was released and afterwards when he recorded many of the songs sitting in a wheelchair while recovering from a car crash. Still, many years later when he released his first solo album, I couldn't wait to grab it. Most of the songs on that album (which I consider to be his best solo album to date) were sung well but noticeably absent was the iconic "gymnastic vocal work" of his earlier Zep days. In addition to having one of the best hard rock voices of all time, Robert Plant will always be loved and remembered as a class act and genuinely nice guy.
Chris Blackwell - Drums (me)

What a very expressive, passionate, handsome, brilliant Robert Plant!❤❤❤
Roberts solo career is some of my favorite music, I was 17 when he went solo, I've always and still listen often in 2024
Robert Plant rocks as always!
