Ship of fools was a term for folks who refused to accept or seek wisdom and change. Dont sail this ship brothers and sisters. Strive for peace love truth and beauty. Love you
When this album came out in 1988 I was 14 and I bought the cd I was a Zep fan so I ran right out. The thing that struck me the most about this album was the amazing engineering, I had never heard something so crisp and clean, every instrument standing on its own at a high volume.
I think I was 26 or something. Honestly, I can't remember .. but remember chilling & traveling northern Queensland in my suzuki jimny... life was free then.
Doug Boyle's guitar playing on this is superb.had the chance to get to meet him round Maurine's house back in the early nineties.and a great collaboration of writers. Robert is great.
Vinyl* and keep that wrapped up in a special casing.....that will be worth money one day. And you're so lucky to have one of the originals mediums if music 🎶 ❤
Ive seen the sultan sea and had a log of miles you couldn't believe... If you could feel this song radiate in time with the sun on the Colorado river... Feel the redwoods breathe around you... Stare into that vast expanse at the grand canyon... Drove the hiway 1 and touched a tire into the ocean at Pismo... This song has guided me everywhere ive been...
Funny you should ask. I remember when this tune hit. 84 I believe. Back then I was 21. And a Zeppelin fan, who appreciated Robert Plant having a solo career, doing his own thing.
"Ship Of Fools" On waves of love my heart is breaking And stranger still my self control I can't rely on anymore New tides surprise - my world it's changing Within this frame an ocean swells - behind this smile I know it well Beneath a lover's moon I'm waiting I am the pilot of the storm - adrift in pleasure I may drown I built this ship - it is my making And furthermore my self control I can't rely on anymore I know why - I know why Crazy on a ship of fools Crazy on a ship of fools Turn this boat around - back to my loving ground Who claims that no man is an island While I land up in jeopardy - more distant from you by degrees I walk this shore in isolation And at my feet eternity draws ever sweeter plans for me I know why - I know why Crazy on a ship of fools Crazy on a ship of fools Turn this boat around - back to my loving ground Oh no, oh no - ship of fools --
Never will forget when this album came out... and this song, especially, has stuck with me ever since... (what amazing visuals here)... this song feels So Relevant, So Pertinent to These Times... just re-visiting it tonight.
It's not JUST that this is a stunningly lovely song -- it's that "hunkatiel" has created the most wonderful visual panorama, that complements and ornaments the music. Thank you, so much!!
I always thought that this era of Robert Plant music was the perfect and natural transition from Led Zeppelin. Retained a lot of that mystic vibe that Zeppelin always had so much of.
It so funny how when we hear a song it brings back memories of the person who you were with and the things that you were going through and it was only temporary and very informative. Thank you God for beautiful music
Love this man's voice !!! My all time favorite classic rock singer!! If and when he passes an I'm still here oh what a Sad day for me 😢 Great video, Thanks.
Don't be surprised ok, it's true I don't usually do this. But the pandemic has really tore everything apart leaving lots of people depressed and sad. Robert Plant does not get the credit he deserves for being a great lyricist and poet. This song is an example of his brilliant writing.
Excellent images to go with the music,I ghostwrote this song and others 1987 in hopes re-uniting Page/Plant ,the greats, and it worked, glad to say.
This song is a MASTERPIECE.
