Harry: tryes to shake hands
Ben: tryes to give a highfive
Immediately forgetting about the enchantment
and then playing a sorcery as an instant on the opponent's combat step.
This some dumb shit.
i think they ment to play it durring their main phase and were just confused. they attacked with it on their turn.
If you notice, they were still accounting for the enchantment damage and heal...
And then blocking a menace creature with only a single creature
I really like the idea of showing everything in an easy way to understand. Meaning what does exert mean and do, haste mean and do, ect SOOOOOOO many helpful tips. Nice explanations and the showof cards on screen that you are talking about. Not everyone has played for 10 years and everything comes easy. Keep them coming!! Great job guys
I've missed Games Night content so much.
I've never played magic and have loved every single video about it they've ever put out. I really wish they played more than just the sponsored ones
I never played Magic in my life but find it most entertaining to watch you guys! One can see that you are having fun and that's great :D
2HG is probably the most fun you can have with Magic, it opens the way for so many crazy combos between allies. ^^ You can play the game for free on Steam you want to check it out. =)
These videos are EPIC! Today's notes written specially for the Yogscast (today largely about Lewis, Ben, Tom, Harry & Simon) are now posted at my Yogs Posts Tumblr!
Such a baby Ben and Barry/Harry
I would want to see the yogs play warhammer 40k.
It'll pop up on the Tabletop weekly channel in a few days - Mark and Trout are having some fun~
Even years before the cult they existed...
just started learning to play. video helped a bunch. thanks!
This is the first game I've ever watched. Can't wait to start playing.
Two Headed Giant
Also in two headed giants you most definitely can look at each other hands!! How absurd would it be if you couldent haha
sorcerys cant be played if its not your turn gg
Murphy can if it has flash
I love Magic looking forward to all your videos now that i found them :D
The problem with this format is it requires you to cooperate with another human being. :P
Also requires friends :\
So many people complaining about the damn rules, this was fun to watch and you should do more!
The first mulligan in Two-Headed Giant games is up to 7 cards, with the following mulligans each reducing one card fewer.
Trespasser's Curse enchants only one of the players on the team, so this was handled in the right way for the wrong reason.
Any effect that uses the term "You" refers specifically to the player that controls it, not to their partner. Battlefield Scavenger's ability applies only to Ben's creatures, not Harry's.
Information may be shared freely between partners, including contents of the hand.
I was always a little intimidated by magic, as I thought it was ridiculously complex, but this video has definitely changed my opinion and made me much more curious.
Hour of devastation looks good!
That was fun
Useful information,
After a mulligan, if you choose to keep your new cards you can scry 1, (this means you look at the top card of your deck and put it on the top/bottom of your deck)
Also 0 power creatures can attack, they just deal no damage. Signal Pest is an example of a card that has 0 attack which wants to attack. because when it attacks your other creatures gain +1 power / +0 Toughness
Fumbles Plays correct. If the card says defender under creature type then they can't attack. All other 0 damage creatures can still attack
More please.
Barbershop moment nice harmonies lads
I enjoyed learning with both of the new player and can you pick teaching me more......
Haha, Harry can't even hold his card in his hand without them falling XD
Players in Two-Headed Giant games do not share a battlefield. This means that creature interactions do not work with your partners (for example the exert strategy Ben and Harry were playing with). On top of that, the combo to steal the creature and then put -1/-1 counters on it was also an illegal play for this reason as Ben did not control the mummy. I wish they had a pseudo-judge sittin around
I wish I could like more than once
Funny You Should Mention A 7 Hydra Deck. My Brother Has A Deck With Four Hydra's, One Of Which Doubles Its Stats Each Turn.
Best of three? Pls
Barrys card was a freaking sorcery, not an instant ffs.
Game was technically over when they used beetle to block hydra which has trample
I like the new intern
Mike the destroyer of lands... :)
Not even a minute in and I already want to scream. :P
It’s so sad that I have no one to play magic with and play by myself with multiple decks... LOL WHO AM I KIDDING I GET TO HONE MY SKILLS!!!
LEWIS MISSED THE UPKEEP PHASE
When they say one drops are usually terrible 😂
Mulligans work by losing a card each time but also scrying each missing card from 7 from the top of your deck :)
guys, I feel like you should ask wizards for a judge. I couldn't even finish the video.
Can 1 creature block 2 monsters?
Also is there a way to remove the enchantment that they literally forgot about
Not unless the textbox on the creature gives you permission to do that.
gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=426737
There are ways to remove enchantments, but it involves having specific cards in your deck. It is typically a White or sometimes a Green thing.
gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=426715
A creature cannot block two (or more) creatures unless it has text that specifically says it can (which some do). There are cards that remove enchantments and they are most often white or green cards.
Thanks guys.
Hi, I see people already have pointed out some rules infractions, so I'll just recommend a solution:
Go to your local games store, ask them if they can put you into contact with a MtG judge from your area, and get that judge to help you guys during recording, maybe even feature the judge in the video :)
When Cursed Minotaur at 7:28 after the attacking phase the creature did not exhibit summoning sickness (it was not tapped) is this a mistake or is that how it works in that second phase.
Harry Everitt they didn't attack with it after it came into play. You only have 1 attack phase after your first main phase so if you play a creature in your second main phase even if it had haste you still cannot attack with it as you already moved past your attack phase
What happened to the trespassers curse
Despite the mistakes you guys made, I did see a good strategy that I hadn't considered before that I guess is obvious in hindsight: save summoning till after attacking in order to fake out your enemy.
Harry was about to rip the scorpion in half after exile lmao should have done it
I'm just learning magic, but at 4:02 they drew a card at the beginning of the game so that would be 8 cards in hand to start?
Russell Common rule states you can't have more then 7 cards in hand at the end of your end step, blue has cards that say draw x cards. Which means you could tap 5 mana and draw 5 cards even if you still have 7 in your hand. Let's say you play 3 of those cards during your turn leaving you with 9 cards. At the end of your end step you then have to discard 2 cards bringing you to 7
Are creatures mana cost only paid if you are putting it into play or can it attack without paying mana?
the cost of a creature is paid once when it is cast.
on your first mulligan u can scry 1 on ur draw step and since its multiplayer i think each player can draw a card im a commander player so i dont know if these rules are diffrent in standard
I'm pretty sure in standard, draft/sealed you may also scry 1 after you decide to keep after first muligan
Correct. Scry still applies
You can see your teams hands but can't say what to do for them
Gah!!!! That Sorcery play on opponents turn. D: I don't normally get triggered but GAH!!!
xselinisx yeah that one was a bit blatant
Untap, Upkeep, Draw... XD lol
What happened to the rest of Lewis and Mike's turn after they attacked for nine?
WTFFF. This is making me so uncomfortable. How can they teach if they dont know what theyre doing?
Jesse Ward they have to make it intertwining while remembering a bunch of shit an give advice to two noobs, they deserve some slack
I mean sure, It was just hard to watch for me.
this is the exact reason i scrolled down i was so confused
They broke the rules and forgot about mechanics so many times, but eh, this was still fun to watch
One drops are great there's a 13/13 one drop soon to be banned
You cant use lands on the same turn you untap them can you ?
Jeff Hyder you can use a land card anytime it's untapped. New rivals of Ixalan card is the three headed dinosaur this lets you pay the 9 mana cost to cast it bring it into play its abilility allows you to untapped all your land immediately meaning you could then use those same lands to cast additional spells all during your first main phase
Can they really sacrifice a creature as it is blocking and dying from the block?
you can! the blocked creature still counts as being blocked. it's one of the few things they did get right.
They forgot to deal 2 dmg to Lewis and mike because the Minotaur has trample and the path maker only had 1 health
20:50 Time for a musical number for a break from the gameplay XD
Lol they forgot that curse even existed
this is harder to watch
hahahaha lol ;)
that enchatmet, is like the should already lost 5 health and I'm not even at the half of the video....
Mana Flare ftw
They didn't take/heal damage from summoning
They did, they went from 19 to 21 from Mike's summons. It just wasn't shown on-screen. And by taking 8 damage, Mike and Lewis went from 28 to 20, rather than 30 to 22.
12:38 so wait how did killing their own Minotaur help??
n Turbo They played Limits of Solidarity which allows you to take control of a creature (The enemy minotaur) until the end of the turn and attack with it. So they did it to effectively play their 4/5 while manipulating it's "downside," being put two -1/-1counters on a creature you control, into a positive effect.
Tl;dr the minotaur would've gone back to Lewis and Mike if they didn't kill it and weaken their other play.
Who's mike, and why does it look like he wants to welcome me to Chilis?
Spells that say "you" means only that person... Ben couldnt put those counters
Mike looks and sound like Tomathy from Fresh meat
As a magic noob, this is fun to watch. Can imagine the amount of dickripping from pro's, though xD.
It always makes me laugh when Brits say Mine-a-tor instead of MIn-ator
To all the magic the gathering fans:
Welcome to games night! Where the games are varied and the rules don't matter
GG NoRe
i would like you to do throne of eldraine to play rwo headed giant a again please
1 drops not common and are bad, god that hurt so much to hear, Modern would like a word with you boys.
FIRST MULLIGAN IS STILL 7 CARDS DAMMIT
Proxeidon umm. Nope 6 cards with scry those are the official mtg rules rule 103.4. The scry rule came in after zendikar
magic is already cool, but with brits its just fucking classy
4 attack somehow kills five defense
lol what happened to upkeep guys? untap upkeep draw
Here is a generic youtube comment just so you can get more comments and i love you. Misplays
I want Lewis' shirt! please respond!
According to mtg tournament rules you get one free mulligan
Also it is specifically stated that players in two headed giant may look at each others hands
you dont get free mulligans in tournaments. the only time you get free mulligans is casual or when your play group agrees to all have one free mulligan.
Players can share all information with each other, it's always the way in magic. Since your opponent can reveal their entire hand and play with it open if they want, it's kind of absurd for them to think that team mates couldn't share information:
3.12 Hidden Information
Hidden information refers to the faces of cards and other objects at which the rules of the game and format do not allow you to look.
Throughout the match, a draft, and pregame procedures, players are responsible for keeping their cards above the level of the playing surface and for making reasonable efforts to prevent hidden information from being revealed. However, players may choose to reveal their hands or any other hidden information available to them, unless specifically prohibited by the rules. Players must not actively attempt to gain information hidden from them, but are not required to inform opponents who are accidentally revealing hidden information.
There are no free mulligans at any sort of competitive tournament, the rules regarding mulligans are as follows:
103.4. Each player draws a number of cards equal to his or her starting hand size, which is normally seven. (Some effects can modify a player's starting hand size.) A player who is dissatisfied with his or her initial hand may take a mulligan. First, the starting player declares whether or not he or she will take a mulligan. Then each other player in turn order does the same. Once each player has made a declaration, all players who decided to take mulligans do so at the same time. To take a mulligan, a player shuffles his or her hand back into his or her library, then draws a new hand of one fewer cards than he or she had before. If a player kept his or her hand of cards, those cards become the player's opening hand, and that player may not take any further mulligans. This process is then repeated until no player takes a mulligan. (Note that if a player's hand size reaches zero cards, that player must keep that hand.) Then, beginning with the starting player and proceeding in turn order, any player whose opening hand has fewer cards than his or her starting hand size may scry 1.
You get a free mulligan in Two-Headed Giant according to the official rules.
waow that guy rly looks like athene
how does lewis think he can get away with fast tracking his new husband straight to the games night table, you think we wont notice ? pridemonth
Still pissed about magic duels
Yogs missed the chance to do some disturbing two-headed graphics. You're slipping Barry.
I like mtg
Ben + Harry = Barry?
WTF is going on... its already complex enough but when you combine 2 vs 2 and how they are doing it... WTF
where is shadow of israphel
this is not how I play magic. when I play two headed Giants, I am allowed to see my partner's hand, and the exert combo they did at the beginning would not work.
Wow. So many misplays.
deanofcool there casuals ha ha
everyone's a noob here
is it just me or does Ben have a really big head and really little hands
im a guy but mike is so damn cool lol
Mike is the cool guy.
Miguel Ong Yan Kai gay*
Them talking rules triggers me XD
As a fairly hardcore mtg player, it's easy to see so many misplays and blatant mistakes here, but, as it appears Lewis and Ben are fairly casual players anyway (at least it seems so) and they're only teaching literal newbies I guess it's fine if they get things wrong. Teaching people something as complicated as mtg is difficult, and throwing too much info at them all at once can be daunting and confusing; better to just get them understanding the basics and have fun with it, even if they make mistakes along the way, than being super accurate and rules laywery and making the game no fun.
lewis and mike wins because ben told them what he is doing and the are proud of winning. I am disappointed!!
I have a handful of spells so cringe creatures are spells
Is this lewis' new boyfriend?
Welcome to the comments section:
