    For 1 year they didn’t upgrade their software, while people had paid upgrade passes. They only upgraded Photo AI, making people believe this will be the company’s future. Now all of a sudden they release GP 7, when all upgrade passes are at an end. Bad move, really.

    Very well explained. I have 3 or 4 drone shots that I forgot to change the default settings from 12mp to 48mp. Now I'm stuck with a low resolution image, but this video is telling me that I still have hope to be able to print these images in 80 inches long.
    I will try this tomorrow and after that we'll see if they are worth printing in that mega size. For now...Thank you!

    Thank you very much. There is - as we all well know - SOOOOO much to know about the various vagaries and arcane mysteries of Photoshop, Lightroom and all things pertinent to them such as Gigapixel. That, the more I learn, the more I know I don't know but, thanks to guys (and even an occasional gal! sms) out there, who take the time to help us understand - it makes life much easier.
    Keep up your good work because? We inquiring minds want to know - and whatever you are doing? It's working. Take care.

    Thank you for a very informative video. I do use the latest Gigapixel 7 that I think does a great job of upscaling low res images overall. The only issue that I have found is that it creates shadow contour lines around the area where the colour changes are drastic. In your own example of the iceberg image you will see it around the woolly hat and also at the top of the blue coat.

    Great Video! I have a question. Is the Denoise and Sharpening in GIGAPIXEL ai as good as the stand-alone Topaz Denoise and sharpening? I usually will use Gigapixel then take the file over to both denoise and sharpening for their specific process.

    As always, Brian, you have done an excellent job in your tutorial, but I may need to wait to try it out.
    I upgraded to PhotoAI (2.3.0) so I wouldn't have to upgrade Sharpen, DeNoise, and Gigapixel separately -- not to mention the convenience of using all of these tools in one application.
    I now fear the latest Gigapixel version is a separate purchase. I have a question open with Topaz Labs support on that.

    Hi again Brian, I have a 61 megapixel camera that produces wonderful files. What AI has appeared to have accomplished, is the ability for much less expensive cameras, to produce files that can be upsized with amazing results. What therefor, is the need to go beyond a 24 megapixel sensor in the hardware department when these results are now possible. As an aside, will G7 batch process? If not, that would be a significant step forward for those that want to produce great files for much less. As always, thanks for the excellent content. You have become one of the best online sources of info out there. Thanks so much!

    Great tutorial Brian! Thank you so sharing the info. Question though. You mentioned Lightroom does not have 3rd party integration so Gigapixel can't open up in Lightroom. I have LR Classic and I'm able to open any Topaz software from within. Maybe I misunderstood. Thanks!

    • @brianmatiash
      @brianmatiash  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thanks, Patricia!
      That’s correct. Lightroom (the Cloud version that I use and teach on Desktop and Mobile) does not have 3rd party app support aside from Photoshop (at least at the time of recording this video).
      LR Classic has robust 3rd party app support, so you can send your photos to Topaz Labs directly from it. I don’t teach Classic, though, which is why I provided that disclaimer.

    Hi Brian thanks for this video! I am a newbie for the past few months and just updated to Gigapixel 7 version but say for instance I used the "very compressed" option and would save art/photo to my apple Mac downloads, it would usually be at 300 dpi but now it stays at 72dpi and when I change it manually to 300 and zoom in its really pixelated still but the version before this did not happen, trying to figure out what I am doing wrong on this new version as it is a bit different. Should mention its for digital art/ai art to then print. Thanks!

    Brian, will they integrate the models into PhotoAI or keep them independent? I enjoy my workflow, and currently, my only software outside of Adobe is Photo AI. I've uninstalled Luminar, On1, and even Topaz-everything except PhotoAI. I used to purchase every photo app on the market, but Adobe does it all and does it better, except for noise reduction, sharpening, and upsizing. I'm confident that Adobe will catch up in these areas soon.

    • @brianmatiash
      @brianmatiash  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hard to say re: whether Topaz will add those GP models into TPAI. On one hand, it’d probably cannibalize GP sales by doing so, but if upscaling is the only thing you really need, then it is half the price of TPAI (when looking at MSRP, not promo pricing). I’m also with you - I prefer keeping my edits as much within LR as possible, but you can’t deny the benefits that 3rd party apps, like GP, have for specific use cases such as upscaling.

    • @TheSmartWoodshop
      @TheSmartWoodshop Před 4 měsíci

      I still would like Adobe to cover it all in-house. I remember exporting files for panorama and HDR, and now it is seamless inside of Lightroom (LR). Not only is it an easier workflow, but also a superior result.@@brianmatiash

      @TMAX500WHITEMAX Před 4 měsíci +1

      What for? Simply reduce the JPG compression slightly and you will have much smaller files without sacrificing size. From 12 to 11 is already an enormous reduction in file size without any compression artifacts.

    • @brianmatiash
      @brianmatiash  Před 4 měsíci

    Thank you very much for your review. Personally, I think the processed image with Face Recovery looks horrible , but I get some people prefer that artificial doll look. For me the original file looks much better so I will test with High Fidelity 2 and see if it matches the Photoshop superesolution. I am not interested in inventing data with IA. I want upscale respecting the original image fidelity. It is good you have the choice to disable the Face recovery alltogether.

    • @RSV9
      @RSV9 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@pafredricks I don't have TP Scharpen AI so I can't make a comparison with Photo AI, but the "advantage" of Photo AI is that it also has the possibility of removing noise, improving faces and allowing you to mask the regions you want to improve. Depending on what you want to do, it would be better to try the trial version first and see if it solves your problem.
